The Bruticus set definitely represents the best Magic Square Toys can do, their obsession for the representation, articulation and transformation always surprises us.
Onslaught is a great example, he is a member of a combiner, but there’s no compromise to the individual bot, he still passes that high bar of great representation and outstanding articulation.
This toy is a joy to play with!
I was a big Bruticus fan, and seeing this G1 combaticon set from Magicsquare is a dream come true making me buy all 5 of em! 😍😍
Sometimes I have the impression that figures from other companies are 1000x better than from Hasbro

That's because Hasbro has limited budget, wheras third party does not. These companies can make their figures however they want, wheras Hasbro cannot. So yes, third party is usually better.

I feel like the gap's been closing recently, with these being only about 10-15 euro more expensive than a typical Deluxe over here. At first I wasn't able to justify the cost of these smaller figures, but then I actually played with one.
Go with that feeling, it won't steer you wrong.

Such a gorgeous fig. I've got the toon version of the legs, but I'm kind of split on whether or not I'm going to get both versions of Onslaught.
Get 'em both, but don't be surprised if you then need to get a set of limbs for each of them.

Thank you for the detailed review. I'm all in on this set and it looks amazing. My one criticism is I would have preferred both toy and toon parts included in each release, and I would have paid extra for this. I'm using the toy feet, toon calves and leg bots, Swindle's toy head, toy chest.

Will you review the reissued versions of the constructions? If not, what are the differences besides the paint?
Brilliant review as always. I wish MS toys put fists with all their figures cause I really don't like those semi open hands . that is one of the advantages that new age has on them min my opinion.
Are both chest plates included with Onslaught or does each one go with its own version of Onslaught? E.G. the G1 with G1 and the IDW with IDW? Hmmmmmmmm I would if Magic Square is going to recolor the Combaticons to make them look like the Combaticon-like group from RID 2001 lead by the Onslaught-looking new Decepticon Mega Octane, and of course their combined form of a not-so-cool Bruticus recolor and knockoff (to me that is) that is Ruination. For the chests again if I were to chose between the G1 and IDW chests and leg pieces I'd probably go with the G1 chest as I tend to like some cartoon accuracy although the IDW chest could be used as disguise in something of mine later on.
Do you think newage will make this combiner?
Black Mamba or other 3rd party company has to take all the MS robots and make the MP scale with better materials and lights!!! MS engineering is on another level- and with such small scale... Their Megatron is the best Megatron out there- but is so small!!! They have to enlarge it like they did with optimus!
MS uses the plastic to their advantage so using ABS plastic could make parts break
I personally only collect legends scale when it comes to G1 figures, but it would be really cool if they did this for everyone that prefers masterpiece scale
Will you review the other two members? You already dud a preview for them.
You should also suggest a RID 2001 Ruination repaint for the figure.
Also, please tell Magic Square to fix the arms on their Slag. The prototype's arms are too short. The Newage Slag has better proportions.
I was busy with my own small business thus missed the review of the part 2s of the two legs, MS also complained... my bad, maybe I put some of my thoughts with the arms.
From what I understood, MS never produce something that is less than 1000 to 2000 pcs, so I guess it depends on the demand for the repaint.
Have not got a chance to see their Slag, will try to understood their thoughts behind it.
Are the stands that you’re using in the videos from magic squares?
And if not, where did you get them from? :)
I've got those stands many many years ago from a transformers show, it extends and has 6 different interchangeable clips at the top, not useful at all until I start to collect MS figures since they are too small for the main line figures.

Yes they do share the same slots and peg holes for holding the torso.

Maaaaaaaaaaaan, those thin armatures on the turret/backpack halves worry me. But given Magic Square's usual choice of materials, that may amount to a complete nonfactor & non-issue. Now...if only these tiny mofos weren't so bloody *EXPENSIVE*!!
They aren't too horrible on ebay from what I've found. Both legs are a little over 50 and onslaught is about 80. Like yeah, definitely a lot, but Id rather have the limbs than any of the official leaders, and onslaught more than any of the commanders
