Fall of Cybertron Bruticus, in game... so awesome. In toy form... so awful. -The Combaticons design in game is cool. I know that it will be years away from now, but I'm looking forward to Hasbro redoing this combiner for the Studio Series gamer edition subline. Also a slim chance, hope that Hasbro considers remolding them to be the Wreckers that combine to be Ruination, from the Generations toyline.
The 3rd party version with the whole new large Onslaught (forget its name) actually makes the combined mode awesome (I have one)... but as you said, it's nearly impossible to get for a reasonable price nowadays.
Those were dark times for Transformer collectors... Toys with bad joints, under sized, plastic as thin as tortilla chips and often broke like them too.
I made the mistake of getting the FOC Bruticus/Grimlock set. The Grimlock was decent but his arms/dino legs were floaty as hell. Ahhh, yesss. The mass retail release, aka Fruiticus. Somebody at Hasbruh was clearly on something to think that this was a good idea. Takara put out a more accurate product, as usual back then, and Hasbruh did a half-assed "game accurate" version in Platinum Series. There was a third-party set, Military Titans, that had a Voyager sized Onslaught (in Fruiticus colors, sadly) along with Bruticus arm extensions/new elbows that you had to partsform in and out, and I think new feet. Sucks that they didn't do game accurate or G2 color versions of the set. Given how badly Gamer Edition Bumblebee and Megatron turned out? I have ZERO hope for any future entries in the line.
@@mega7157 Yeah, the problem is that Onslaught changes colors when he turns into Bruticus's torso. Onslaught in-game really is navy blue with bright green highlights, whereas Bruticus is mostly brown.
Bumble bee and Megatron didn't even turn out that bad. Not flawless, but net upgrades to the original FOC line. And RotF Devastator came out fine so... Not to mention Hasbro has been upping their quality as of late so not all hope is lost.
I own a knockoff of this set, and each time i see a genuine one being transformed or whatnot, i get baffled. I really thought mine was totally borked, but no. The only actually missing thing on mine is the combine mode head just permanently stays on onslaught. Everything else is exactly the same and has exactly the same issues as the real one. 'Bit sad.
Hasbro has the potential to make an insane combiner Bruticus in the gamer line. The figures in this set do still look nice in alt mode, but aside from that, I’m not sure the other aspects are worthwhile at all. Blastoff looks nice at least as you stated.
honestly there is a way to transform each bot differently, making the combined mode look a LOT BETTER, especially putting Onslaught shoulders in vehicle configuration and having the blades make the chestplate
Funny story: my copy of Blast Off for some reason did not have head articulation, I tried to force it and it snapped the head off, there was no ball joint. Why?
I really do hope if we get a gamer edition Bruticus the 5 combaticons are voyagers (or in onslaught's case a voyager sized figure with extra stuff for the combined mode sold as a leader)
6:30 is the only one of the set I kept...out of 2 complete sets of this thing. I also removed his combiner port and replaced it with a CW combiner stump, but that's a whole other story.
The Military titan upgrade is sold out completely everywhere. I missed out on it because I entered the collecting space very late and it still pains me till this day that I might never get my hands on him. Been searching for him for years now...
There were some things I did like about this, mainly that there was no parts forming in the combine mode, and though it couldve been executed better the way Vortex splits to reveal the elbow joint rather than just having the limbs form one like every combiner wars figure. There was some inovation here but it was limited by production cost (probably)
I liked to think this was the precusor to the Combiner Wars combiners! Like making the torso bot as a voyager class and making the hand/ feet as a seperate piece instead of being build in! Sure the CW aren't perfect but could of been alot worst has they stuck to these version of combiners!
Vortex for me is my favorite out of the ones i have (which are him brawl and blast off) You can have him hold the two swords in a darth maul way in one hand. And if youre physically playjng him. You can make him a menace My brawl version feels a bit loose around his legs so hes more flimsy. Blast Off is my 2nd favorite figure so far
I had the platinum edition version of the set. Blastoff is the best one sure… but his arms got sooooo loose over time, and the shoulders would come off every time I tried to transform him. After a while I had to use the transformation joint for his elbows to not flop back down
I remember not getting this because it came in a boxset but in G2 colours and the price didn't match the scale for me personally. I still wouldn't mind a copy, so I might see if they do a SS version or something.
The combination ports for the limb bots are also compatible with the power core combiner torso bots. I still have this set, as well as the PCC Combaticon. I still use the torso bot with the Combaticon limbs, just for something to laugh at.
I have the Takara version of this with the Boosticus set done for the Takara version, and I still think it looks amazing. I also have FoC Ruination, and the funny thing is, stock Ruination works better then stock Bruticus. I mean, the Brawl mold as an arm isn't all too poseable, but then you pay attention to the turret, and the Swindle mold actually makes for a great arm that looks like it can also shield. I have Ruination currently posed with my Wreckers collection, as if it is moving forward, right arm cannon facing left forward as the left arm is up to block any fire from hitting his face. One could also just use the Swindle mold and the Vortex mold as arms with the barrel part of Vortex sticking out instead of the hand.
Honestly, Onslaught was the worst offender of this group. The rest to me are fine for the most part. I was lucky enough to get not only the Platinum Edition set, but also the 3rd party Military Titans Voyager “Onslaught” for a proper WFC Bruticus.
I have the G2 version of this and it’s something. I made a small “upgrade kit” out of poster board based on a small upgrade kit that’s out of stock and it works better but there’s still issues. The 4 limbs aren’t bad the robot/vehicles work alright blastoff looks cool and brawl has bad heels. Onslaught kills the set due to the old FOC figures all being deluxes due to wave design onslaught dosent have the bulk to make a proper torso so it’s very scrony and the vehicle sucks it’s a pile with wheels. This might be a hot take but if we do get a Bruticus it should be the FOC version first. It desperately needs an update and there is the gamer line to go along with Bruticus so it’s not just a stand alone thing, also if hasbro wants repaints there’s the neon/skittles version or ruination the original set was retooled into a wrecker combiner which had the same issues.
I am glad I was able to help design and get my hands on the military titans upgrade kit for this guy along with the Platinum release for the main figures hopefully we will get planet x soon

I display this guy on my desk with my Legacy stuff, I don’t think he’s that bad, but he was also my first combiner as a kid (that wasn’t a Power Core Combiner).
I like the safe bet of 5-10 years but personally. I think he could be a Hassan where they can have that higher budget and go all out or. Are going to release him in the next 2 years figure by figure movie devastator/menasor style.
I'd love for them to remake this and make the component guts so much beefier like the game. This was my first combiner as a kid and I'd love to see a new one!
I have always loved the fall for Cybertron game like it's still today my third favorite game of all time, and I was like 10 or 11 years old and I got this exact set. I believe the set was called like the Skittles edition or something like that, and I would not let go if them, from years of age. With these I think all I have left is brawl and half of vortex, those were my favorite Toys growing up
I actually enjoyed this figure. Its because its in the SDCC colors plus the arm configurations. Just waiting for the boosticus upgrade and this will be awesome.
This version is really hard on the eyes. The basic g1 style colors that Takara released, or that came in the box set with Grimlock, aren't nearly as garish. Doesn't make the set any better built but at least they look somewhat closer to their source material.
Really thinking if I should get the G2 version with boosticus upgrade…. For roughly 160€…… i really want that figure it was my first version of bruticus but also I don’t wanna wait years for a potential studio series release but also….. this figure is pure doodoo
I have the platinum edition of this guy and you have no idea what game accuracy colors can do for a figure. The vehicle modes (except Onslaught) look great and game accurate. The robot modes… there eh I guess could be better but I like Blastoff and Brawl. And as for Bruticus I love it! He’s as big as a commander class and has good articulation and is accurate enough.
Honestly...I acknowledge the issues these figures had due to the constraints at the time, but I still have the softest spot in my Heart for this cuz it was the first Combiner I had ever completed.
It's crazy because a week ago I finally found a Microblaze Military Titan on eBay and was going to snatch it up. I saw him at 3am. I woke up like 10 hours later and he'd been snatched up... (Taking this opportunity to ask if anyone knows where to get one or put out that if they're parting with theirs I'm ready and willing to buy) Honestly making Onslaught the Voyager and tweaking the limbs slightly would've gone such a long way back then to making this guy a pretty solid experiment towards what we'd get in Combiner Wars.
18:11 Man... one looks like one of those brick phones, like a chunk of plastic, which is not fun and the other like it will snap at any moment, which isn't fun either. Like the two extremes of the spectrum.
The colors feel too bright, it's been awhile since I played the game but they weren't this neon bright right? The transformations kinda feel accurate...
Honestly I think choosing Bruticus as the combiner in game was awesome as last time I saw him was in the G1 cartoon, so seeing him in game was awesome. But I honestly think it would have made more sense if it was Devastator in game. Not complaining, just a thought.
18:50 I have experienced the Military Titans set, myself, and it still didn’t completely save this combiner in my opinion. The new Onslaught had these horrible squeaky joints, and the Bruticus mode was still a little unstable. In all honesty, just forget these old figures. FOC Combaticons need all new molds to do the design justice. Voyager Onslaught and Deluxe Swindle, Vortex, Blast Off, and Brawl; or don’t even bother trying.
Wow. I remember several years back, I just finished playing Fall of Cybertron, and someone in a Transformers group on Facebook was selling one of these in box. I didn’t buy, but I was thinking “That would be so cool!” But, this makes me very glad I didn’t buy that thing
You mentioned the Military Titans version being way too expensive for you, does that mean you saw one on sale? Where did you find it, I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it in stock. I’m willing to pay considerably more than originally since that’s my favourite transformers design of all time
I just picked these up last week in the more gane accurate colors, its wonky ass hell and is pretty unimpressive all around but id be lying if there wasnt a charm to it
I remember wanting this alot as a kid and i am happy to say i still want him he maybe look like an idiot but hes my idiot despite his problems the transformations are fun and easy to handle so hes a great combiner to pick up and play with and with how cheap he's gotten id say id be happy to pick him up in the future
I hope the modern Gamer Edition line covers the Combaticons and other FOC designs. They deserve far more than what Generations 2014 gave them. Probably won't outmatch Planet X's stuff, but at least SSGE will be at a cheaper price point.
I remember desperately wanting to get this figure when I was a kid. I asked for him for around 3-4 Christmas’s and birthdays in a row. Never got him as “Fall ofcybertron bruticus transformer” doesn’t really make much sense to parent who know nothing about transformers.
It’ll be compromised. Every non masterpiece combiner is. What matters is that they make sure that the compromises are easy to overlook because the rest of the toy is so good.
I love those robots, especially in those colors (there are two other variants too). Really nice looks, but designs could be better and I agree that the combiner isn't good.
This might be a bad figure, but like Ultimate Optimus Prime, I actually enjoy it, though this is mainly because it was one of my first ones when I started collecting more. And recently I made an upgrade kit, which the review can be found in my 3rd channel. Glad I finally was able to cover up those Onslaught arms that made it look like he was wearing oversized shoulder pads while being handcuffed.
I bet you've not seen the Chinese 'Gift Set' version. It's all hollow shampoo plastic, strangely painted, includes TWO Brawls and no Swindle, while Onslaught is terribly deformed and has only Bruticus' head.
I wonder what a SS:GE Bruticus would look like in this scenario... Honestly I kind of just want all the designs in toy form (But given as much love as Optimus compared to Bee and ESPECIALLY Barricade)

18:11 Man... one looks like one of those brick phones, like a chunk of plastic, which is not fun and the other like it will snap at any moment, which isn't fun either. Like the two extremes of the spectrum.
You misstransformed brawl’s leg mode, you’re supposed to rotate his tank barrels so the inward facing pegs face the leg so the backflap can peg in
The colors feel too bright, it's been awhile since I played the game but they weren't this neon bright right?
The transformations kinda feel accurate...
Honestly I think choosing Bruticus as the combiner in game was awesome as last time I saw him was in the G1 cartoon, so seeing him in game was awesome. But I honestly think it would have made more sense if it was Devastator in game. Not complaining, just a thought.
Bro, that intro had me bursting out in laughter
This was bad back in the day. Its even worse now lol. Really hope we get a gamer edition.
That intro was beautiful
You mentioned the Military Titans version being way too expensive for you, does that mean you saw one on sale? Where did you find it, I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it in stock. I’m willing to pay considerably more than originally since that’s my favourite transformers design of all time
I just picked these up last week in the more gane accurate colors, its wonky ass hell and is pretty unimpressive all around but id be lying if there wasnt a charm to it
Who was in charge of the colours and why are they so bright
I remember wanting this alot as a kid and i am happy to say i still want him he maybe look like an idiot but hes my idiot despite his problems the transformations are fun and easy to handle so hes a great combiner to pick up and play with and with how cheap he's gotten id say id be happy to pick him up in the future
I hope the modern Gamer Edition line covers the Combaticons and other FOC designs. They deserve far more than what Generations 2014 gave them.
Probably won't outmatch Planet X's stuff, but at least SSGE will be at a cheaper price point.
WAIT-!! what was that translucent Sentinel Prime figure?!
I remember desperately wanting to get this figure when I was a kid. I asked for him for around 3-4 Christmas’s and birthdays in a row. Never got him as “Fall ofcybertron bruticus transformer” doesn’t really make much sense to parent who know nothing about transformers.
Here’s hoping we get a gamer’s edition FOK Bruticus uncompromised
It’ll be compromised. Every non masterpiece combiner is. What matters is that they make sure that the compromises are easy to overlook because the rest of the toy is so good.
@thecodfather6280 Well, I meant more like what we have here with the 2012 Bruticus, I don't want to see a repeat of this
I love those robots, especially in those colors (there are two other variants too). Really nice looks, but designs could be better and I agree that the combiner isn't good.
Yo, Onslaught sounds like a chill guy
Honestly for the time I still find this to be a very enjoyable combiner!
The military titans upgrade kit makes this figure god tier
I got this and ruination.....ugh at the time though I didn't think they was going to redo the wfc games figures lol.
This might be a bad figure, but like Ultimate Optimus Prime, I actually enjoy it, though this is mainly because it was one of my first ones when I started collecting more.
And recently I made an upgrade kit, which the review can be found in my 3rd channel. Glad I finally was able to cover up those Onslaught arms that made it look like he was wearing oversized shoulder pads while being handcuffed.
can you review the nemesis
Really wish that microblaze creations still sold their bruticus of this design.
That intro was 🔥
I bet you've not seen the Chinese 'Gift Set' version.
If you can, buy the upgrade kit for this toy it's worth your money and oh boid does the combined mode look good
Don’t think that we didn’t notice shattered glass sideswipe.
