I am amazed at the SIZE difference between the NEWAGE and Magic Square. The cars are near identical in proportions, but the 'bot difference is simply incredible.
If the difference between the two Jazzes wow you, just compare the New Age Sheen (Mirage) with the MS version of Mirage. This TH-camr has a great video on par with this one showcasing Legends Mirage. Huuuuuge difference between the two. I had bought the New Age one and it is cool. But the MS one is way better as far as capturing the toon look. Also both Mirages look very similar in car mode like these Jazz do. Great job Optimus Legend.
Oh and by the way, a special thank you to OptimusLegends. His videos have helped me decide to buy some of these TF legends scale figs. Since I found your channel, I’ve gotten my hands on the MS version of Mirage and Jazz. These are two that I was on the fence about until I saw your reviews. Thank you again.
@@papastar5702 yeah im in the same boat as you, i have magic square's jazz and mirage right now and plan on picking up their repainted version of hound!
I stumbled upon your channel a bit back looking for English videos for the magic square prime 2.0 and I instantly subbed. You have amazing quality production and great attention to detail. Instantly my favorite transformers channel out there!
So DX9 made some Legends scale dinobots and I just discovered it this week. Their Grimlock has a very clever transformation where you can hide the dino head and neck into the body.
@@slappyfun Same here. MS has a very simple cartoony look to their figures which makes them look like they were peeled off an animation cell, and I love it.
I ordered him and the new 2022 megatron a few days ago and came back here for probably the third time to watch it again and it gets even better the more I watch, can't wait for the little fellas
@@OptimusLegends quick question. Does it have clearance in car mode to roll without issues? Some angles looks like the cibble on the bottom could be an issue.
I've avoided the Masterpiece line (and 3rd party) because of budget and space constraints. And I've avoided Hasbro in general because there's always something about their product that leaves me dissatisfied . Magic Square's Hound impressed me so much that I am now finally building a Transformers collection.
You are not alone. These are shared pain points of TF collectors, but even just a few years back legend scale figures are not real alternatives for building an actual collection, they have improved quite a bit.
I'm like you i've been after a perfect Legends scale G1 cartoon Jazz for years, finally got this one, Manero was too small. I have Iron Factory Jazz but hes more IDW style imo, this is finally the right scale 10cm and looks amazing.
Awesome review! My Nemesis Prime got here yesterday and I love it! But Jazz and Trailbreaker in another order just made it to my local facility so hopefully I'll have this guy tomorrow! So cool! Thanks!
I’m a little late because of time zones, but I think this guy looks awesome! Since they’re going for a cartoon look, the chest is a bit too wide like you said but it’s legends class, so I don’t mind.
Just got MS Prime 2.0, Jazz, Hound & Mirage. I’ve been collecting Newage up until this point, but picked up some Magic Square figures to see what the fuss was about for myself. After having played with both, I can sum up the differences as follows. Newage “feels” more premium. Diecast adds heft and I’m not sure how (maybe oil or just great tolerances with nice materials), but NA transformations feel silky smooth. They tend to be noticeable smaller and in some cases (NA Mirage for example), this leads to more of a Chibi look. MS on the other had does have more cartoon-esque proportions, but the extra width of the bot modes is less to my liking (but that’s wholly subjective). MS bots are cool, but the biggest turn off for me is the lack of heft. These guys are LIGHTWEIGHTS. That makes them great for taking to the office, but less great for stability when posing. They’re not bad by any stretch, but after having had both, NA is still my “go to” for Legends figures. Thanks so much for your review!!!
With some minor readjustments; MS can make this Jazz figure into Autobot Spike. I got this guy on his way and I can't wait to add him to my living room table Transformers battle scene. Great review btw. Thanks for sharing.
Do you prefer the MS over the New Age for Jazz, then? The better paint on the new age is pretty clear here, but I think MS came out with a new repainted one recently? Has gold wheels.
I'm fairly new to third party Transformers as I only started collecting them within the past 6 - 7 months but, I'm really liking Magic Square. Started with Optimus Prime 2.0 and now I have Jazz, Megatron, Skyfire, Bumblebee and Sideswipe. I also have NewAge Skyfire and Fans Toys Cliffjumper and Jazz pre-ordered. I love my Transformers but, these third party Transformers makes the Takara Tomy / Hasbro versions look bad and cheap with all the hollowness some of them has.
Amazing work! I love your style and it’s definitely worth a sub. If you don’t mind me asking, what camera are you using and what editing program? I don’t know much about production sets but I really want to get into reviewing figures and I’m unsure of exactly what crucial tools I need that give off this kind of quality. Thanks in advance. Love these videos. Keep it up.
Hi Denkin, thank you so much for subbing! In this post, there is a behind the scene shot, and it might be easy to see the actual setup. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8cnXHmwz0lxPZ0NuhlUyjY6v54ORxu_k. It's fairly straightforward, a mirrorless camera with HDMI output to a computer as the monitor, I am using Sony a6300, a rather cheap but old option, if you want to go 4k 60fps you might need to get newer models. 2 or 3 LED lights with soft box, google some lighting tutorial to learn in less than 10 mins. For me I am using voice over to reduce the noise and ambient sound, so a decent microphone and audacity (freeware) for editing, for post I am using premiere pro, but for my level of editing, most software would do. I am also just getting started, so let's learn and share our hobbies together!
I have a question. Your figures have the autobot insignia on them but when you go to the website there pics don’t have it on the figures. Do the coke with stickers?
Man this looks really nice but I already have a newage jazz and ironfactory jazz so I really don’t need anymore. If they repaint this into riccochet I’d get that. Also very important, were you able to swap the head on magic square nemesis prime? Also the smoke stacks?
I guess it will come sooner or later, it's the famous Jazz recolor that everyone loves. In my Optimus review I addressed the issues of these replacement parts, impossible to swap, very tight joints, so I didn't mention it in the Nemesis review.

For MS car bots, this is probably the best one.
