I'm mostly a modern 6 inch military action figure collector who likes to take my figures outside and photograph them, so for me it's Valaverse Action Force figures. I think they're currently the best in articulation, durability (they can actually be played with and posed), authentic accessories, paint apps and price point.
Action Force. My reasons are as follows: More for your hard earned cash. His price points are excellent. I can say this as a former business owner for 25 years that a great price with top quality doesn't give you a lot of wiggle room, but it will always get you repeat customers. Better quality, no gummy soft plastic or warped weapons. The BEST customer service in AMERICA! He being Bobby Vala actually listens to the fans and is more than willing to converse with us. Do I purchase other lines, yes. Hasbro, Neca, Mcfarlane "when he makes a cool looking figure" Spero, and Jada. So I feel I'm pretty well rounded with my opinion due to the multiple lines I purchase.
For me, it's GI Joe Classified. The line has a lot of small issues and tons of reuse, but the articulation is generally good, the designs varied, and the accessories plentiful. So many good figures in the line and lately things are getting better and better (recent deco is fantastic). Which 6" line as a whole is best? GI Joe. Not perfect by any means but considering price point... the best for me. (I really wanted to mention some 7" NECA as favorites but...)
To me, articulation matters most, paint can come 2nd. Mythic legion paint apps and sculpt with mafex/ML articulation would be THE pinnacle action figures imo 👌
I was more showing the fact that the paint deco is incredible on NECA and Super7 to back up Bobby’s point that you have to make a choice between that and articulation
First off great video Matt. I like sculpt more than articulation, but I still want to be able to pose my figures in cool poses. I am currently collecting Jada Toys street fighter figures I'm all in, except for the repaint exclusives with speaking of exclusives Jada is doing that the right way. I am also picking up Action Force but not every figure. I think those are the two best lines for value out right now.
Never had a problem standing an Alley Viper. Watching you try to stand one with straight vertical legs and leaning backward was just cringe. Hearing you say the exact same figure (crimson repaints) stands a bit better? Ugh. Listen, all the hip/thigh/knee/boot/ankle articulation is there to support the weight of a natural stance if you factor in weight distribution. If a foot is molded poorly then yes Id see the frustration. I free stand almost all of my Classified in numerous dynamic poses without shelf dives. If it's not a sculpting issue, it's a skill issue. Seriously. They make stands for those without the skill to balance a toy.
Honestly yeah. I have some figures posed in stiletto heels, and they don't fall over unless I knock them over. So seeing people that can't get figures with these two big ass flat feet to stand normally is kind of funny. Unless there's something seriously wrong with it it's not the figure's fault you can't figure out how to stand it lol. Sometimes you just gotta put other stuff down and take a few minutes to actually handle the thing. But I guess for people that dislike actually posing figures that could be annoying.
My Classified Firefly has that floppy torso issue too. I have one Action Force desert trooper that came with extremely loose hips (legs literally drop when I lift her), and my Warpath Eclipse came with an arm too loose to hold a pistol up. It sucks, but sometimes you just get QC stinkers. I have 22 Joes and 9 AF and I've only had these three issues, and none of them ruined the figure. So I think both lines are pretty solid.
Great convo. ❤ We’re talking toys. Toys. I love toys, and toys mean play. Not posable statues. You know what I mean? Drop them on the floor they don’t break. Roll them down a 45 degree rocky 40’ drop into the bushes. Rinse and repeat 😂 Fun! At least that’s how we grew up. We did mess up a lot a toys though, but we loved it, even if we had to use masking tape to hold a gun in the hand or scratched off their paint. lol We’re more sophisticated now 😅. Phfft. When I heard GI Joe was going to reboot to Classified I was super excited. Preordered 000 Snake Eyes. ❤️ Amazon first Storm Shadow 😵💫 piece of crap. The more of them I got the more I noticed they 30/60 at best. And the more you move them the worse they get. Then we had all of the distribution issues, price jacking, I tapped out of Hasbro. It’s the same for my Vintage collection, SW. Hasbro just pushed me away. 😕 I still get some here and there, but again so hit and miss it’s not a focus at all for me on Hasbro. Moneys also tight. Positives now! I can’t - well no one can afford everything. So skip Neca sub par 7 etc. I found Action Force. I’m far far from even 50% but I love these figs, and wish I could have more. And I’m a Joe kid from the 70s. And then ARAH. Omg! ARAH was the 80s to me even well past it was socially acceptable to the kids I was growing up with 😅. I enjoy the Action Force I’ve been able to get and feel the quality is so much better. I guess I’m lucky I’m not one of 2% and not gotten any defective figures? But my favorite current line is just a bit smaller. MOTU Origins. It’s just so much fun to collect and customize - for me. They’re toys. They feel and move like toys. I don’t know what it is. I know they don’t have Michaelangalo paint, but do you really need that level on a 1:12 or 1:18 scale toy? Maybe for like a camo pattern or eyebrows etc. But I think Hasbro in particular uses that as an easy excuse to jack up prices. Then cut back on that not lowering prices. Cheers! 🎉

But gimme that impressionistic representation, abstract even, any day. No doubt it comes from me being an old school fool who collects classic 3.75s. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go yell at a cloud ☁
The mcfarlane Batman animated was done by DC direct team. Mcfarlane is reissuing old figures, yes some were done in house by mcfarlane but most of them are re issued and unreleased by DC direct before Warner shut them down.
What kind of goober loses accessories to neca turtles? It’s not rocket science. Put your 40 accessories in a Ziploc bag. I have every neca tmnt figure there is and I havent lost any accessories and there are hundreds of them. There’s no such thing as too many accessories. No, Link isnt holding 7 swords because he’s a videogame. I have every weapon incElden Ring on me at all times and all armor sets. Thats hundreds of pieces but I dont think anything of it given its a videogame. Someone should talk Vala into getting the Elden Ring license. He could turn that into his own personal Mythic Legions. S.H. Figurarts has released one figure under that brand and has one more coming out. Vala could print money with that or any other title from that game studio. They do Dark Souls and Bloodborne. I cant believe Mcfarlane hasnt tried something with them. Those are right up his alley.
I like 6 inch action figures and do collect them however I still prefer 3.75 or 4 inch figures. I think I like that scale best because of having access to vehicles without taking up a whole shelf.
