Sweetie, I am an older woman who doesn't have a clue how to wear sneakers, but one thing I know for sure, the Holy Spirit uses you girls to shine His light. I was so blessed by what you just shared, Diana. Take it from me, you both are beautiful in all ways. Don't worry too much about what you wear.
I’m saying this with kindness, because I’m 45: the problem is when middle-aged mothers make choices based on what’s “on trend”. That’s not our game, that’s a teenager and early 20’s game. There is so much freedom in being out of that age group and wearing what looks good on us, regardless of what’s “trendy” to the kids.
I am baffled by people who manage to follow fashion in their 30's 40's 50's......I wear what I like wearing. Yes I want my hair to look nice but I dont need or have interest in what Im supposed to be wearing.
@@lifewithboys8023 Same - I wear what I want, regardless of “trends”. Because I’ve never followed trends, I have never looked trendy or off-trend. I just look... non-descript in my clothing. AKA “classic”, since what I wear today is what people could have worn 50 years ago or will wear 50 years from now. I love Diana ❤ but in this realm, I’m 110% Dawn!
I’ve said to my husband several times that I just don’t understand fashion anymore 😂 And I also now understand why when I was a teenager and saw moms who were stuck in the 80’s hairstyle/fashion… if you find a style you understand and feel good in you stick with it for better or worse! 😆 I get it now! ❤
Homeschool or don’t homeschool, retire or don’t retire, life ruined or not ruined- He cares more about what’s IN YOUR HEART. Having the right heart attitude is essential❤
A Year ago I committed to write a Bible study on how to pray the Bible for a summer ladies study. And then yikes! I was faced with the deadline and having to come up with content! So each day I came to the Lord offering my little loaves and fishes, my little sack lunch. And I asked God to multiply what I was offering. And he did! Many ladies were blessed by the result! And I was amazed at what God did! He is able to do above and beyond all we can imagine!
I heard in an interview that phrase, I dont want to ruin Gods plan and their response was, You aren't that powerful!!! Wow! Praying that can encourage and set some people free!!!! I have been in a long season of being single and I still dont know what the Lord's plan for me in this is, at age 50? But im so thankful that I am finally free from living in the mindset, I'll be happy when... I am doing today and using the gifts and talents God has given me! With peace and contentment!!! Thanks Diana and Dawn for always being the voice of truth in my life!!!! I've started offering a few people free babysitting so they can enjoy a date night . It is life giving to see and hear the gratitude in them!!! Love you both so much!!!!!
Okay, now I can comment! Ladies you are adorable; love those sneakers. Are you wearing socks? I understand they are back in style. Now about second degrees … I got a second degree, a BSN, Nursing, passed the licensing exam first time and commenced an 11 year acute care nursing career. (After a bachelor’s in English, post high school, and SAHM once children arrived.). I started my hospital job, nights, at 59 and worked until 70. An entire privilege. Do it!
I’m so glad you said subscribe because I thought I already was but when you said that I looked and I wasn’t! I really love worshipping with you and Dawn too when she joins you ❤. Thank you 🙏🏻
Diana, I am almost 55...I like to be trendy but not too fashionable. I wear "tennis shoes" with jeans and even wind pants or workout pants. I don't wear them to church but hey, they are cute and comfy. Wear what you like. Y'all are adorable.
Im 4'10", 38 yes old, and I definitely struggle with dressing! I've just recently decided that I'm done with pants. I've switched to cute cotton dresses and I feel so cute and so much more comfortable :)
i’ll take my turn at doling out the advice. You mentioned there are activities and interests that just pour back into you, they re-energize you. That is a clear sign that you are serving, using one of your spiritual gifts.
Deciding on whether to retire should include more than financial readiness. Health is huge. While finances are important, the optimal time to retire is when you are able to enjoy your life physically, socially and emotionally.
Thank you for those of you, who have commented on retirement- I think that was my comment. Thank you to Dawn and Dayna, I’ve asked God for some guidance. I know that if I retire early I will have less money but there is so much else going on in my life which is pulling in different directions. I need to make a decision on what I can and can’t do. However, currently I’m struggling because doing that means letting someone down.
There is a third option to consider: retire from your current job and take a part-time job to supplement your finances a bit. I think when I retire I will try to get a part time job at a resort or summer camp or maybe board dogs or something like that just to keep some money coming in without the responsibilities of full time work
What hit me the most was I'm unsure about whether I ruined God's plan for my life by making poor choices in my past. That really hit home with me because I have made really bad choices, especially in my 20s, mostly when it came to guys. I have always wondered oh did God have someone else better for me than what I chose.
This is beautiful! Thank you Diana. I really liked the discussion on the thieves being crucified. That really shows that it is never too late to repent and have a change of heart. I also really related to what Dawn said about prayer. We can all find answers - no matter who we are. This video was such a nice way to end my day. I love that you both are so down to earth. You both are always encouraging and I just really needed this message tonight as I seek answers to my own prayers. Thank you.
Dawn. LOVE the pink top. Looks great on you. RETIREMENT. if you have plans to fill your time, retire. I was forced to retire to be a care taker to dad. After almost two years he passed. Now I’m struggling to fill my days.
I just thought while listening to you.., I had to figure out who/what I am after having an empty nest a few years ago and now I’m going to retire soon (I hope) so I’ve been hoping I don’t go through all the emotions again. So my thought… I can be ‘Available’. I can see where God needs me and be available.
A practical shoe -great for big days, kids days, relaxing days at the park. More useful than whatever it’s called. Being short too I watch my colour contrast, like not a white shoe with a dark leg. Proportion and fit. Not great at it but what I look for. You have the choices, just busy and it’s at the back atm.
Diana.. watch back this when you talk about preparin the Bible study.. your face became radient ! that IS when you come alive. Both of your are very encouraging. You remind me of my mom and aunt (twins). Thank you.
My mother in law is 4'11 in Height. She shops for her jeans for the year every Summer when Capri pants hit the stores. They are the perfect length for her as jeans, not to long or to short! She does buy petite from time to time but the capri's length hit her at the perfect length that she doesn't have to get hemming done.
Diana, the jeans you showed with the high tops on yourself were GrEaT!!! The fold at the bottom of the jeans with the high tops works SO well…love it. Wear it please 😊 Love you both
For the retirement question, if you are going to be ok with finances and have goals and activities that you want to do but can't until retirement, Yes, retire early! I did and I am so happy! I took watercolor painting classes, I volunteer at a private school for homeless children, I help with our Homeless community by serving meals sometimes, I travel with my husband.....I love retirement!!
I retired early, too! No regrets😊. More time for those I love, Bible study, service, and hobbies, and lots less stress. Pray on it, He will guide you, dear one!
I retired too. I love to garden. play music, work on my art, write songs and be in nature on my recumbent trike. I do not have children or animals but I volunteer and am going to start monthly sleep overs with rescue dogs. I am also volunteering to help homeless and creative co-op for elderly. It’s amazing how much joy this brings.
#replay - with being involved with adult children’s lives … I have found good relationship with my daughter to first think about how my parent inserted herself into my life and how that made me feel. Then make yourself available but don’t advise unless asked. Definitely don’t criticize any of their choices. Be sure to compliment good choices or parenting skills without adding the “but” that destroys any good thing you started to say. Ask, without prying, to be interested in their interests and activities. Be positive in all!
I have a very wise older friend who once told me that putting “but” in a sentence effectively cancels out whatever you said before! I try to remember that and will often use “and” instead if I am commenting on something. 😊
I'm 62, retired and living my best life ever. I'm single and I wear what I want, when I want and don't worry what anybody thinks and I'm 5' 2" also. It's God and I against the world and enjoying it. I often think, especially myself, that we think it's prideful for us to pray for something for ourselves. I struggle so much with this.
I loved Dawn’s story of God speaking wisdom to her in various forms in one week to answer a specific question. I’ve had similar experiences, and I loved that you affirmed this can happen to anyone:)
Diana, wear are the hightops or whatever you want. We know that Dawn is very sweet but she also cares less about fashion than you do. I am older than you and I wear high tops and whatever I feel like. Not that I dress crazy but I don’t let age slow me down with my clothes. Besides what is “too young” for people is changing all the time. I think you’re very pretty and fashionable and I find you inspiring.
I think it was me that said that trainers/sneakers aren’t shoes. It could be just a British thing. Thank you for mentioning my comment about being single & childless, as it’s so hard to fit in when other people my age are married or in relationships & also have children & grandchildren. I never know what to talk to them about.
I find it’s been best to search for single, childless new friends - much more in common. My friends with kids don’t have time for me anyway and some friendships are for a season and it’s okay to let them go if they don’t serve you.
My husband is the fashionable one in our relationship. I’m an easy going comfy type of homeschool mama 😂😂 he picks things out for me to try that I would not otherwise choose and it helps me a lot. 😅
Trainers in the UK. 🙂 all these different names lol. Natalie Bennett recently shared on her TH-cam channel that she finally gave herself permission to buy a style of shoe she had always been told weren't "right" for her. Why not? Love you ladies 😊
Lying here as a 76 yr old in rehab with fractured vertebrae I wonder what He has for me in the time left. I too love to study the Word. My Bible study had to be postponed. And added layer of loss. Give me all those gifts especially joy and patience.
I just watched “the little poet” and she was so interesting talking about all these decisions…..awesome!!! As we get older and how we feel about the aging process. Thank you for sharing this. Glad to know even at 70 we feel like this.
@@DianaKokku it's a total God thing! I wish I could share all the details on the internet, but maybe I'll have to text you them! Hope all the baby snuggles are sweet and praying blessings over you!
Thank you ladies for this. I'm late to watching it, two months after, but I felt so uplifted. As far as clothing, so long as you aren't drawing undue attention to yourself or causing offense...I think you can wear whatever you want or whatever you think looks lovely. I enjoyed Lauren Messiah's book 'Style Therapy,' to give myself a good framework and to really see cohesive options. I don't necessarily agree with all of her thoughts, but I found it very useful in figuring out why what I was wearing didn't feel right and how to dress my outside to match my inner personality to have a cohesive look. You must get dressed anyway, it may as well be fun and a way to reflect beauty (beauty is intrinsic, it's transcendent, and can direct people to God--think of a beautiful flower or sunset). We all desire meaning and respect. I think your idea of loving others by service and volunteering is excellent. We were created to love God and love people. That will look different for everyone and ALL our giftings are needed. Also, different life chapters will lend themselves to different opportunities to serve. I'm right with you and have many littles at home, homeschooling, but I can make sure to parent and teach as unto the Lord. I can write letters to the elderly in my church. I can keep gift cards or snacks to give to people in need in my purse or car. I can grow plants on my tiny patio. I can sew my daughters summer dresses--letting them pick out the fabric and making it memorable. I can take individual children grocery shopping and make it a "date." It's fabulous when people can do big things, but most of life is in the small things ❤️ Your contributions still matter. I had depression for the first time last year, it's awful and insidious, so easy to not realize that's what's happening. I feel like I was barely able to do the bare minimum. But surviving was enough in that season. In the future I'll be more understanding and useful for others going through the same thing. For any one still reading, depression and anxiety are treatable ❤️ Ask for help in seeking help. It won't stay this way and keep your eyes open to glimmers even in the valley. God is close to you.
I turn 40 this year. If I am wearing something that is comfortable and fits me well, I wear it. Fashion is what you like. Anything goes. Have you people watched lately?! Have fun in your own creativity, just like everyone else! Ps, you are both fabulous. Thanks for keeping conversations real!
If you’re comfortable in your clothes, that’s what matters. You wear tennis shoes or other shoes on your feet. You have them on your feet. You are successful.
You hit the gas pedal transitioning from shoes to today’s great message. I had to pause to run to get my prayer journal to take notes and could barely see thru my tears as I wrote down those three points. Yes and amen to all three. Ill be praying and meditating on those verses shared ( gotta love James) all week. Thank you❤
Wow. From the styles dilemma to everything else, I’ve been there. I’m older and found Dawn. While she was young and a minimalist, something told me to watch and I would learn how to declutter. From Dawn to Cas and Dana and now Dianna, I have been enlightened in so many ways. I’m very much Catholic and we aren’t Bible centered so much so today was most helpful. It reminded me how to ask. I also started ages ago and found Flylady and have learned how to understand the Bible from her also. It was God leading me to all these sites. Is everything 100%, no, never will be because life interferes but what a Godsend. Thank you girls.
Diana! I'm right there with you about fashion! I just want to have fun, stay a bit up with what's in, and feel good about my body. My sister also has the ability with one comment to make me second guess everything I care about in relation to my style😂
. Psalms 139 talks about how God knew us in our mother’s womb before one of our days came to be. Mom of 9 grown children and 26 grandchildren. Six of our children were adopted and three were birth. God always has a plan for each of us. My husband and I feel and are so very blessed to be a part of the plans He had for ALL our children. We tell our children build your relationship with God through Jesus and you won’t have to stay in a place of uncertainty of what His plans are for you! Thank you sweet ladies. I truly enjoyed this video. God bless 🌷
😂I fell off the fashion train once I hit my fifties! The “I don’t care what others think” attitude definitely amps up. I wear what’s 1. Comfortable and 2. Clothing to cover up body weak points. (Have you seen the SNL on clothing?? “Pants, for the legs…” 😂😂
I wore my first and last pair of torn jeans about 30 years ago. We were living in a rural area and I had walked the dogs on the trails. When I came in I sat down to take off my boots, and a bee had managed to get into the hole in my jeans and sting me just above my knee. Never again.
Diana, I lost my dad unexpectedly about a month ago. I prayed at his bedside for a week. The whole experience was tramatic. I feel angry and let down by God. I know I shouldn't. I feel guilty for feeling this way. I haven't wanted to go to church. Please help with some direction if you would.
I’m so sorry for your loss and pain. Of course it was traumatic for you! God doesn’t always do what we want Him to do, does He? And a lot of times we don’t know why. Grief and loss can make us angry with God, but God loves us and is ok with our anger, He can handle it. I’m not Diana, but I think it would be good to just talk to God about how you are feeling, even cry and yell if you want! Grieving can be hard work and very tiring and sad. Somehow, after a long time, things start looking a little better. We never get over our loss, but it doesn’t consume us as much. If we let ourselves feel the sadness and don’t think we “have to be strong”, it helps us move through the grieving process and not get stuck. Again, I’m so sorry for your loss. I will pray for you.
When my 3children were school-age in 2004 I volunteered for the local credit union. Volunteering that I could do during school time , see them into school then go 2 days a week for a few hours …be home in time for them. I loved it🎉.
In the Southeast, we say 'shoes' and not 'sneakers.' I'm too short for hightops. I think it would be fun if you and Dawn switched clothes for a video. :) You have your own style and she has hers. But I think it would be neat to see you two switch.
Dear Diana, Dear Dawn, So good to see you two together and listen in to your twin-shenanigans. Also thank you so much for the great input about wisdom and your encouraging example Dawn. It's so easy to disqualify us from asking the Lord for wisdom and direction, so it was wonderful to be reminded, that he truly WANTS to give us abundantly. Many blessings to you from Germany
Diana, you are just a passionate person! In a way, when you get excited about the Bible, you're "ranting" at us in the positive. Keep ranting! Just do it well ❤
Growing up in the south, we called sneakers tennis shoes, and once my husband and I married he grew up in the north, and they all called shoes sneakers. So hopefully that helps. And I’m almost 40 and struggle with putting outfits together… so you’re not alone. :)
Fitting in is so hard in every time in life. I’m 68 and have physical limitations that keep me from joining in some of the activities with my friends. Makes me feel left out at times. I’ve been told this retirement time is supposed to be when I have the time to do what I want to but the physical won’t keep up with the activities.
For the question about retiring, only if you have your home paid off and a nice sized nest egg. Then you can enjoy your time doing and going wherever you wish. Don’t retire in the winter where it’s cold snowy weather.
If you have a commute in a snowy, icy rural area, retiring in December can be great. My sister did that and enjoyed every bad weather day that she didn’t have to drive. I’ve been retired many years now and I’m still so thankful on those miserable days where I don’t have to head out on the roads.
Diana that devotional was beautifully explained, thank you. Thanks for the reminder that we must talk to God and to the devil too. I went over and read James 7, and the first verse made me think about your new "shoes", & your face looked like you were worried or stressed. You have a full life, and your shoes & clothes should not be a burden. You also said you don't know how to wear them. That sounded stressful, please don't add more stress to your busy life. IF the shoes are that confusing then return them or gift them to someone . God Bless you both! Thank you both for these wonderful video channels. [ re sneakers, my family called them " tennie-punks" , probably from something 1 of our toddlers said lol ].
Nope, retired early and don’t have an active lifestyle. I read a lot, putter around the house, enjoy visiting with close friends. I’m an introvert and totally enjoying slow living. Retirement is everything it is supposed to be except Hubby has health issues so we don’t travel as much as we expected but other than that slow living is the way to go.
That’s why The Villages, FL is so popular and people are flocking here in droves. Lol. 3500 clubs and 115 Recreation Centers with pools and 800+ holes of golf. So much to do here, plus a college enrichment center where you can keep learning till you transition into your “next life!” It’s AMAZING!!
Diana, wear whatever makes you feel good for the day. I an almost 72, 11 years older than my husband of 38 years and I dress so much younger than him but he loves it! Always have been the youngest weird child in my family. So start moving toward what makes you feel alive and you'll feel better. As for the sneakers if they were converse brand they'd be "high tops" in Michigan where I live. Don't wear them like a mom tho...don't tie all the way to top. I would say leave a couple top grommets open then tie 'em up. I have a pair of Van's that I took laces out of completely, soo comfy that way. Love you both!!
Dawn looks great in that pink, much more her tone than the black
Yesssss! Black looks ok but I find it depressing to look at when Dawn is so uplifting.

I loved Dawn’s story of God speaking wisdom to her in various forms in one week to answer a specific question. I’ve had similar experiences, and I loved that you affirmed this can happen to anyone:)
Love the story of the good thief. One of my favorite that teaches us there is always a way to Jesus.
about advice ... "when you get older, you just dole it out" ..... sooo true!!! LOL It just falls out of my mouth!!!
And he was in such horrible pain while he is making that request ! Thanks for this video.
Ladies, you're bringing me to tears. Thank you for your kind words and wisdom.Sending you hugs and love.Thank you so much ❤❤
Trainers in the UK.
You both bring me comfort threw Gods word. Thank you❤️
Wear what you like...
at any age.
I'm 65 this year I am ordering my 2nd pair of JUDY BLUES!
LOVE LOVE!!
Majorly comfy.
I don't want to fit in a mold❤
Just wear what you feel comfortable in Diana. You do look cute in all your outfits!
I love this! Needed the great reminder, thank you Diana!
Hey YOU! I was just watching your new library tour 😍😍😍 Ah-mazing!!!
@@DianaKokku it's a total God thing! I wish I could share all the details on the internet, but maybe I'll have to text you them! Hope all the baby snuggles are sweet and praying blessings over you!
Just do what makes you happy! Life is short and I think if God’s okay with it and I’m okay with it that’s all that matters ❤
You two are truth and grace- you know who you are. I love and appreciate you both.
God gave me the wisdom that I needed when I needed it!
You look adorable. Maybe a tee with a very lightweight cardigan with your jeans and high tops?
Maybe a half tuck on the shirts?
You hit the gas pedal transitioning from shoes to today’s great message. I had to pause to run to get my prayer journal to take notes and could barely see thru my tears as I wrote down those three points. Yes and amen to all three. Ill be praying and meditating on those verses shared ( gotta love James) all week. Thank you❤
Awe, this means so much… thank you for taking time to share Caroline! Love and blessings 💛
Yes. I pray when I go to work be with me give me wisdom. I see it and I'm so thankful for the simplistic wisdom.
Diana, the blouse looks really nice on you.
All I could think about as you were showing your shoes is, “Did Dawn get a new faucet?!” lol
Same! LOL I was thinking "I think I missed a video!"
Amen thank you for the reminder of tell the enemy to silent
God bless 🌷
My mom said tenni-runners” too!!!
I was never on the trend train.
I wore my first and last pair of torn jeans about 30 years ago. We were living in a rural area and I had walked the dogs on the trails. When I came in I sat down to take off my boots, and a bee had managed to get into the hole in my jeans and sting me just above my knee. Never again.
Thank you Diana, so much of what you said resonated with me today. May God bless you abundantly ❤
The thief on the cross talking to Jesus so intimately brought me to tears.
Thank you! I needed this reminder about asking for wisdom for each season of life.
I am 5' 4", and I definitely don't tuck my shirt in. Never have pre-kids and definitely not after kids.
Subscribed 5'2" the struggle is real!!
When my 3children were school-age in 2004
I volunteered for the local credit union.
Volunteering that I could do during school time , see them into school then go 2 days a week for a few hours
…be home in time for them.
I loved it🎉.
I just love how human you both are together!
4:58 My three siblings are all married with three kids each, and here I am over here. ☹😭
Bloom where you are planted.
I'm 68 childless, and glad for it.
Count your blessings.
In the Southeast, we say 'shoes' and not 'sneakers.' I'm too short for hightops. I think it would be fun if you and Dawn switched clothes for a video. :) You have your own style and she has hers. But I think it would be neat to see you two switch.
Dear Diana, Dear Dawn,
So good to see you two together and listen in to your twin-shenanigans.
Also thank you so much for the great input about wisdom and your encouraging example Dawn. It's so easy to disqualify us from asking the Lord for wisdom and direction, so it was wonderful to be reminded, that he truly WANTS to give us abundantly.
Many blessings to you from Germany
Both of you are such an inspiration to so many! What you both are doing very purposeful in your TH-cam videos! Love and prayers to you both!
Diana, you are just a passionate person! In a way, when you get excited about the Bible, you're "ranting" at us in the positive. Keep ranting! Just do it well ❤
That was so good! He loves us all!!
I’ve said this before, Diana & I just have to say it again. This is where God needs you🩷✝️
Thank you for you encouraging word. It’s great to see you both together.
Love you guys! 💕😀
Thx💯! Wear what u like don't fret about trends😉.
Diana and Dawn! This is so good. All of it. 👍🏼 spot on with everything. 👏🏻
Diana, this was one if your best conversations yet! It moved me to subscribe. 😊 I
Growing up in the south, we called sneakers tennis shoes, and once my husband and I married he grew up in the north, and they all called shoes sneakers. So hopefully that helps. And I’m almost 40 and struggle with putting outfits together… so you’re not alone. :)
I love your story about meeting your husband!!! As I have been praying for years for my husband. ❤in my singleness alone times. 🙏
You ladies are such wonderful blessings. I thank God for connection though technology. Thank you for all you do❤
Hi ladies, I enjoy listening to your kind inspirational chats.
Diana I am loving that shirt! So pretty for spring. I too, am struggling with dressing for my age (almost 50!) but still fun and unfrumped.
Unfrumped!! Y E S 😆
I love you two. You make laugh and inspire me with the topics you discuss. ❤️
Retirement, make sure you have a purpose. People that retire early, that don't have an active lifestyle, tend to isolate and die early. 😥
I recently retired and I see myself as isolated. Thank you for sharing!
You have alot of nerve with that comment- you know nothing about anything!!
@@peggypeters6676 This is a known fact and anyone in the mental health community and geriatric care will confirm this.
Not only are there sneakers, there are athletics, according to my teen. She has made sure I know the difference 😊
Love your shirt Diana. 😊
