  • Hundreds of clinics specializing in ketamine treatment for depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder have popped up in the U.S. in recent years. Some investors are even throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into ketamine startups. How big could the market for psychedelic treatment get?
WSJ visits one clinic, Nushama, to learn why some entrepreneurs are betting that demand for ketamine will continue to rise.

I've never taken Ketamine before but I have taken 4 grams of Golden Teacher Magic Mushrooms (Psilocybin) recently. A truly lifechanging experience. Actually, that's putting it too mildly. The GREATEST single experience of my life. Literally a gateway to the next world. A doorway to heaven and the afterlife. Reunited with my late, estranged mother and reconciled. My eye shades were sodden with tears and I'm not a crier. More beautiful and loving than you could possibly imagine. Words cannot describe it. EVERYONE on earth needs to experience it.

    • @Jim-Tuner
      @Jim-Tuner ปีที่แล้ว

You will chase re-creating that experience for the rest of your life. The thing is that you are not opening a doorway to anything. You are frying your brain. And eventually your going to be sitting in a corner seeing the doors of perception staring dead-headed into a strobe light.
The more you use them, the more the bad effects will take hold. I guess the good thing is that your brain will be so damaged that you will not understand that anything is even wrong.
Seek out people how have used these things and understand them. The positives and the negatives of them. If anyone tells you there are no dangers in them, RUN AWAY from those people.

This is extremely difficult for people who are in the last 1/4 of their life and have suffered for so long. What I wouldn't do to experience to not feel the overwhelming depression that I wake up with and go to sleep with everyday. Depression is like taking your free will of feeling happiness away from you. Then you feel guilty because you know that self loathing is a sin. So you then feel unappreciative of life. The more you try to fight the depression the more you feel like a failure. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I will never be able to afford this treatment in my lifetime. I've come to terms that this is only for wealthy depressed people. I can only hope that if I do come back in my next life that I can feel natural happiness and do everything in my power to help people who can't experience it.

In terms of ketamine treatment though, as it’s new I suggest trying to find clinics looking for new patients for research on the benefits of this treatment. Since it’s only recently started to gain recognition in the medical field, there’s still a lot of places doing clinical trials with it that will administer it for free or even pay you for your participation so that more research can be conducted on it. You just have to do your research on the upstarting ketamine treatment clinics in your area and keep an eye out online for clinical trials

By far the biggest problem is that the price for a generic medicine in these cases is charged at 100X what it could be. Psychedelics appear to be effective, the only issue is that people aren't making huge amounts of money, but the medical approval process is built around big companies pushing solutions to charge $1000/week. When really, it should be maybe $40/month.

People want a magic cure for mental illness. They want to get around the hard work of dealing with the problems by just "pilling" them away. What they don't understand is that these drugs don't cure anything. They just suppress the unpleasant outward symptoms for a while.
Then eventually you end up with an even more damaged person with even more problems.
But nobody is listening. Just as with the pain pills, money and the elite have made the decision.

@@RM... You might want to look at who is funding most of that positive research. And also ask yourself why so much exclusively positive research is coming out.
What I can tell you is that there is decades of older research that quantifies exactly why this not a magic cure for mental illness and what the horrible long-term consequences of irresponsible over-use of these substances is going to be.
What the people you personally know are eventually going to discover is that its not a cure. It simply suppresses the symptoms for a while. And the longer the substances are used, the more the consequences of their use are going to be apparent.
      "traditional" antidepressants are equally bad.
The vomit is because some of us lived through something exactly similar to this with the over-perscription of pain pills and the commerical development of "pain clinics" which dispensed dangerous drugs to people who shouldn't have been given them.
We watched the same pattern of studies promising everything under the sun for pain pills, nobody listened then and the same thing is happening again.
Seeing all this happen again makes some of us vomit.
Now you know. You have a choice to either listen or not. If you choose to ignore the warnings, you will have no one to blame in a few years other than yourself.

There was a very strange feature in this case, strange because of its extremely rare occurrence. This man had once been brought to the scaffold in company with several others, and had had the sentence of death by shooting passed upon him for some political crime. Twenty minutes later he had been reprieved and some other punishment substituted; but the interval between the two sentences, twenty minutes, or at least a quarter of an hour, had been passed in the certainty that within a few minutes he must die. I was very anxious to hear him speak of his impressions during that dreadful time, and I several times inquired of him as to what he thought and felt. He remembered everything with the most accurate and extraordinary distinctness, and declared that he would never forget a single iota of the experience. ‘About twenty paces from the scaffold, where he had stood to hear the sentence, were three posts, fixed in the ground, to which to fasten the criminals (of whom there were several). The first three criminals were taken to the posts, dressed in long white tunics, with white caps drawn over their faces, so that they could not see the rifles pointed at them. Then a group of soldiers took their stand opposite to each post. My friend was the eighth on the list, and therefore he would have been among the third lot to go up. A priest went about among them with a cross: and there was about five minutes of time left for him to live. ‘He said that those five minutes seemed to him to be a most interminable period, an enormous wealth of time; he seemed to be living, in these minutes, so many lives that there was no need as yet to think of that last moment, so that he made several arrangements, dividing up the time into portions-one for saying farewell to his companions, two minutes for that; then a couple more for thinking over his own life and career and all about himself; and another minute for a last look around. He remembered having divided his time like this quite well. While saying good- bye to his friends he recollected asking one of them some very usual everyday question, and being much interested in the answer. Then having bade farewell, he embarked upon those two minutes which he had allotted to looking into himself; he knew beforehand what he was going to think about. He wished to put it to himself as quickly and clearly as possible, that here was he, a living, thinking man, and that in three minutes he would be nobody; or if somebody or something, then what and where? He thought he would decide this question once
for all in these last three minutes. A little way off there stood a church, and its gilded spire glittered in the sun. He remembered staring stubbornly at this spire, and at the rays of light sparkling from it. He could not tear his eyes from these rays of light; he got the idea that these rays were his new nature, and that in three minutes he would become one of them, amalgamated somehow with them. ‘The repugnance to what must ensue almost immediately, and the uncertainty, were dreadful, he said; but worst of all was the idea, ‘What should I do if I were not to die now? What if I were to return to life again? What an eternity of days, and all mine! How I should grudge and count up every minute of it, so as to waste not a single instant!’ He said that this thought weighed so upon him and became such a terrible burden upon his brain that he could not bear it, and wished they would shoot him quickly and have done with it.’

K doesnt get FDA approval, as this vid pointed out, trials costs billions and K is a generic drug. Meanwhile, big pharma comes up with novel, patentable versions of K, and those do get FDA approval but patients (and insurance) pay big bucks. In a functioning democracy, govt would pay for the trials for the generic version thus making treatment widely accessible to all.

toxins associated with the drug build up in the body over time. The body also develops a tolerance to the drug leading to people needing more of it for the same effect which increases the danger associated with taking it.

Pretending that everyone is following "standard protocols" is incredibly naïve. The same thing was said to justify the mass overperscription of pain pills. The pain clinics were all going to follow "standard protocols" as well. The system being built to distribute these substances is not a system designed to give out "standard protocol" amounts to a small number of people.
      2) Saying that Ketamine provides superior results to things that are deeply flawed and don't really themselves work as expected is not anything that suggests that the mass use of Ketamine is a good idea. And we are talking about mass use. All the "clinics" now being built and all the "investments" being made in dispensing these drugs are not about giving small numbers of pills to the suicidal.
      3) Ketamine simply suppresses the outward symptoms. It doesn't address any actual problem. It can be used to defer an immediate suicide. But it can't be used to stop the tendency toward suicide. But it is critically important to point out that the intended usage and infrastructure being developed is something far larger than would be needed for prevention of immediate suicide. There is a full press on to push these sorts of substances as a cure-all for anything and everything. That will not end well. People are going to be severely damaged and people going to die.
Can you honestly look at the facilities being constructed and the investments being made in this space and say that its all designed to deliver "standard protocol" treatments to the immediate suicide cases? The numbers just don't add up.
