I did 4 weeks of Ketamine IV (2xs a week). Those 4 weeks did more for my anxiety, depression, PTSD, than 10 years of the traditional approach of therapy and RX drugs.
Plus the sides were non-existent two hours after the session. No addiction, no fiending. I cant stop recommending Ketamine IV treatments for people that experience ongoing anxiety/depression.

I asked the Ketamine practitioner about this and he made me aware that patients can be on several meds during the day and take some more before going to bed.
Not to mention depression can be caused or run parallel to hundreds of reasons.

As I watched this video I became very emotional. I think of my friends Joe, Richie, Miranda, Hugh, Dean, Lydia and Gary. They did not make it through their depressions. They're spoken about in hushed tones because people still don't appreciate that Depression can be as terminal as heart disease and cancer. This video gives me such hope - followed a terrible sadness for those who didn't live to have the options we are now discovering. I hope in my heart that one day depression will be, if not totally eradicated, something that can have as little impact on life as the common cold.

I’m so very sorry for your loss of 7 friends. That is just beyond awful. I’ve battled with depression too. I know the feeling of hopelessness in trying to get out from under the cold wet wool blanket (how I pictured depression). And yeah, it doesn’t matter how much you believe in God or how much scripture you read or how much scripture other people (well meaning yet self righteous & ignorant) shove at you, the depression just does NOT go away! But God has used my depression to show me how I must take steps to get help for myself, do the hard work of dealing with past trauma and accept His healing. It’s been a long process. After a couple decades it turns out I actually have ADHD, which is often misdiagnosed as depression,-especially in women! Now I’m taking Strattera and getting therapy. I still have times of feeling down but not like when I was younger. It’s a matter of getting the right chemicals to the right places in the brain. I wish you much healing. And don’t let people who just quote scripture without deep understanding turn you off to who God really is! ❤

So for all the people who jumped on Matthew Perry saying that "he wasn't sober" because he was using Ketamine should educate themselves before they all pile on a man who had fought so hard to conquer his addictions.
On top of battling his own addictions, he still managed to help so many other people with their own additions.

I began ketamine, once a week at the lowest dose, held under the tongue until absorbed. Mango flavor! I too have had a response to Ketamine that knocks the ball out of the park. I remain on my usual anti-anxiety and anti-depression medications, but ketamine is just incredible. Dr. Marks did not mention the lozenge dosing but I'm glad it exists. You are not supposed to drive after the treatment, and that would be a handicap for me. Lying on my couch when my husband is at home is just perfect, with no issue of driving. I have heard phrases come into my head during the treatment that are very uplifting and positive. And I am the author of those phrases, or my subconscious is. With this dosing, I have about 3-4 days of positivity with no anxiety or depression. This is the result of the least amount of dosage strength! I think it is a miracle.

I have to sign up for 1d inpatient and off-label use here (I´m not from USA). 2019 FDA approval of Nose Spray really was a game changer for depression Treatments in EU! I´m very happy that it´s possible now to get rid of the heavy depression symptoms! For me 1 infusion last for 4 weeks and then it slowly come back. But let´s say about 1 week of depression and then 3 days of recovery from infusion is totally worth the ~90% very good time I have! Before my docs and me tried Ketamine I was on 50+ different pills (of course not at the same time, but up to 8 different a day) and now I´m at 0 pills since a month.

Thank you Dr. Tracy for the update on ketamine. I've been following your channel for a few years now and appreciate all the valuable knowledge you bring.
I am one of those labelled as "Treatment Resistant." Over the past 10-15 years of Major Despressive Disorder I've trialed 8 different SSRI's. The only one that 'remotely' gave me some results was Cymbalta -- however, it had one of the highest weight gain out of all of them and I had to stop the medication as I was reaching over 200 lbs (I am 5'9" and small build and could barely tie my own shoes).
I feel so defeated because I know there are new options for TRD but nobody wants to cover it. My depression got so bad I had to go on medical disability. Therefore, Medicare barely covers anything. I want there to be hope for me, but I don't think it will come in time for me to benefit from it.

I love it when I sit down with a licensed psychiatrist, tell them about all the literal 'self-medicating' I've done with particular substances and my genuine motives behind using them, it's always a paradoxical reaction of "While I can't come right out and explicitly endorse what you do, at least you're paying attention to the right stuff."
I am at least attempting to go legit and am currently paying a hefty out-of-pocket amount to a licensed anesthesiologist for ketamine infusions and it's easily the second-best horse-related medications I've ever had (just kidding, obviously).
But I'm glad there are people out there promoting this model of "take this substance because it'll make you feel good *after* you're no longer under the influence" instead of "take this substance that, if taken long enough, will ensure that you're a repeat-customer--or else."

Yepp, self medicating is so broad but in a world where SSRIS antipsychotics and benzos are the best thing around it seems, self medication starts to sound like it could be better.
I was on Zoloft for a while and never could remember to take it (adhd as well) and it just seemed like a losing battle. Now I’m self medicating with psilocybin/shrooms and a single dose lasts up to a month, some benefits indefinitely.
But these revelations in my own self care are allllways met with quiet, under-the-table type reactions from medical or psych professionals.

It was like a nightmare every session (almost 4 hours each one). At the end of session i started to talk with a different accent for hours. And a lot of nausea makes me vomit a lot too. So i couldnt eat anything in the day of infusions and even tough i keep vomiting water or what was in my stomach. I tried use medications for this side effect but none worked. In my infusion, before i took bromoprida to help it secondary effects. But stills didnt work. And the effect of ketamin just take about 2 weeks. After that time i needed a new infusion. I had to stop because I was felling really bad and started a MAOI. I took the MAOI for one year and after the fear of drug interaction i tried to use a combination between fluoxetine, bupropion and quetiapine. It worked hopefully. I dont know if nasal ketamin has less side effects but to me was a very hard treatment...

I seem to remember hearing months at least. I can tell you a single ayahuasca session provided benefits still apparent 10 years after the fact.
These compounds challenge the idea that depression is all about simply inadequate levels of serotonin or NE in the synaptic space. It's thought that psilocybin and other entheogens may work by breaking the brain out of repetitive and unhelpful patterns of activity.
I can say with ayahuasca in particular that it wasn't as simple as "curing" a depression. What it did for me was to break me out of the thought patterns that I took for granted as "the way things are" and brought me face to face with a lot of traumas and negative baggage I had stuffed down for a lifetime. You face your personal shadows and horrors with aya, and it's hard to bear, but not more than you can bear. Kind of like lancing a boil so that healing can begin.
I describe it as a full death and rebirth experience. The thing you take for granted as "the real you" dies over the course of that night, but it's necessary for some of those things to die. What's left is reassembled and re-integrated piece by peace and born literally into the light of the new day and a lot of hope. It's like 10 years of therapy in one night. You still have to do the work afterward though. Aya can show you some truths but its up to you to recognize and implement them into your life.

Ketamine infusion works wonders for specific types of depression and PTSD. General rule: if you're stuck in your head and can't break loose from repetitive thoughts, ketamine might be the ticket. I have cyclical depressive thoughts and hear music in my head constantly... it's a fear-memory feedback loop, very similar to how PTSD works. A single ketamine infusion shuts this down completely. It's also very effective in dealing with chronic pain, or at least the mental anguish one experiences when forced to exist in such a state. Hey, worst case it doesn't work and you get a nice clean trip! $200 is the going rate where I'm at, and it's worth every cent.

How does ketamine stack up against quetiapine for bipolar or schozoaffective disorder?

I've recently been diagnosed as Bipolar. I did 6 sessions of ketamine intravenously and now I'm on Seroquel. For me seroquel has been much more effective -- for bipolar -- but damn it makes me tired.

How high is your dosage? I know esketamin and you wont absorb it that good by oral intake. You could crush one of your tabs and sniff just half of your oral dosage and you will see.

How often do u take such a dose? And did you start with 300mg or did you ramped it up? Because i know 300mg nasal and its a rly high dose without tolerance.

actually had Quietiapine added to my anti-depressant (escitalopram) 2 years ago after a significant worsening and adding new symptoms (like complete inability to sleep, mainly because my brain just could not stop with forced thoughts and rumination) to my persistant depression. I'm still not doing well at all, but it that does not mean it did really help. That's why I can accept the side effects, because I don't want to ever fall back into the absolutely insufferable state I was in without it.

I convinced my psychiatrist to let me try Spravato. I went into the clinic yesterday, and went through the procedure. It was a VERY unpleasant and uncomfortable experience. The main reason I feel happier now is that I cancelled any subsequent treatments and I know I will not be experiencing that feeling again. The thought of doing it eleven more times to finish the treatment makes me certain that cancelling now is the right option for me.

Sorry to hear that! Look into very low dose ketamine. I get my prescription troches from Joyous. You can increase it gradually until you get your best dose. No Dr. visit, but you are interviewed by a professional to see if you qualify. If so, you get the troches(dissolve between cheek and gums) sent to your home!
I wish you the best! ❤
