The current media has been telling people from time to time and it has been etched into people's heads. But the reality is far from it. Thar is the only car I own and I have no regrets. Thar doesn't have to be your second or third car and it can definitely be your primary car

The one impartial comparo I've read among the plethora featuring the Thar being pitted against another also-ran. I'm grateful to EVO for highlighting the real strengths of each one. The Sonet is representative of the typical range of compact SUVs in the market. And its good that the silly feature of "drive modes" in the Sonet (as in the other FWD members of this brigade) has been mentioned! And here I can't help clearing my throat to add that I have booked the Thar (LX, hard-top, petrol, manual) a couple of weeks ago. Having owned and run the Scorpio for 14+ years (and sold it reluctantly) all over the country, I am sold on RWD/4WDers and Mahindra's idea of a proper off-roader. I'd not expected that at my age (I'm 68) I'd be straining at the leash to get my hands on the Thar. But that's just it - if you're once hooked on SUVs (not the hatch-on-stilts kind tho') you're done for. Nothing else will do!
I don't get it only has santro platform but that platform is modular too. I guess according to your brain even an Audi Q7 is nothing but an A4 . I also get that sonet is not an SUV. Yes it is not. Thar is an actual SUV.

Now planning to buy a thar LX diesel MT for its off road performance and road appeal! Thar is grt vehicle but its not a family car. Whereas sonet is a family car with lots of features n comfort. Thar can many things which sonnet cannot and many things which sonet can thar doesn't. Choose a vehicle as per your utilisation. Every vehicle is good in their zone.

Silliest review ever. Two cars are a completely different breed, one is an urban hatchback (err. compact SUV as they say) and another one is a true blue SUV with 4x4 capability. I mean people surely know what they are buying, don't need a review to tell. Off lately many reviews are going bizarre with the explanation, some point out the infotainment and some the flashy features (mostly is useless and in my opinion, people won't use it more often). A word of advice, if you are a true motorhead then make a video which is more emphasized on the engine, safety, and reliability. That is more important.

Didn't like the video's premise after seeing it. You're trying a logical comparison against a car that is fundamentally illogical. 2. The points system is arbitrary. Adding and removing points just to arrive at the same score is juvenile. 3. The tests don't highlight the best side of Thar, the offroading bit. You could have tried off roading in the Sonet and showed the gap. 4. And the verdict, "buy what suits you", is not a verdict.
