Thar has become like royal enfield, earlier both were rare sight now both have become common. Thar has become a lifestyle vehicle...while gurkha is still the pure hardcore offroader.

No, force wants gurkha to be a lifestyle vehicle but they failed doing that. If they really wanted it to be a hard-core offroader and a rural vehicle then they would not have offered double wishbone front suspension.

@@Bhaidostyaar not exactly. Independent suspension is more comfortable & helps in better handling than solid axle which makes gurkha more comfortable for highway cruising. Gurkha Bs6 is much more refined & polished product than earlier. Coming to power, it can easily generate 115ps/350nm, but bs6 will go byee bye!

I have to say, this video really opened my eyes to the significantly improved comfort levels on the Gurkha. It has more space, and rides more comfortably than the Thar. If only it had the power to match. Am sure there will be aftermarket engine mod jobs for the Gurkha.

Test drove the Gurkha recently. Felt fine on the open highway. Was comfortably cruising at 90 kmph. When i got into a traffic jam i found it very easy to maneuver through traffic that seemed to just give way to it. While the Gurkha looks great from factory most Thar owners spend a couple of lacs bringing it up to spec. Did you notice how it towered over the Thar and made it look puny in comparasion? A Gurkha with its hardtop and space can easily be the primary and only car for a family of 4 unlike the Thar. Maybe thats why i booked a Green Gurkha right after the test drive.

    • @projecttruth3610

People customise thar because they want to give it a unique touch and not bcoz it’s a necessity. Even vanilla thar looks really good on road. Except the hard top, thar even in 3 door guise is miles ahead of gurkha.

Thar is certainly a superior car but Gorkha runs it surprisingly close. In fact it looks tougher, more imposing and is more spacious. It's a more practical family car. For a typical customer of this class of cars who want only one car in the family these are the virtues that appeal to him more. Well done Force Motors!

Lets talk about practicality for a moment: The Gurkha has way more space for luggage, more head room, leg room and shoulder room for passengers. Its metal hardtop ensures one can have a factory fitted luggage carrier, besides being much safer too.
Most highways I've driven on have a speed limit of 90 kmph. One can cruise all day at 2000 rpm at 90 kmph in a Gurkha. Why would i need to drive at 120 and pick a 2000 challan every speed camera i cross?
The Gurkha is better offroad, practical since its more spacious, safer with its metal top, quieter at high speeds, better ride quality, and looks far better in stock form than the Thar. Looks ofcourse are subjective.

    • @kalai2721

The problem is safe overtaking on a single lane highway. With a 0-100 time of almost half a minute(terribly slow for a vehicle in this day and age) the gurkha will struggle to even pass busses and trucks safely. You will have to plan for overtakes which in turn tires the driver out on longer journeys. Meanwhile the thar will be much safer for the same. So the gurkha makes sense only if the use case is offroad most of the time

It astounds me to read that the Force 13 seater Trax Toofan 4x4 has the same 90 bhp engine as the far lighter Gurkha where it already struggles ...

The Force Ghurka Extreme FM 2.2 CR was better spec’d as far as performance was concerned , the interiors .. well that’s another story ! Would love to see a comparison though !!

Gurkha, cos soon thar will become too common to be exclusive...other positives of gurkha is easily maintainable & economic commercial engine and better road comfort.

Hello from the US. Cool to see these 2 vehicles not available here. Do you think the snorkel exhaust on the Force is part of the reason it is so down on power? Perhaps some sort of cutout for use in dry conditions would help.

I doubt it, how can a exhaust make a difference of 20-30 HP even if it has got more displacement

Gurkha is perfect for hard-core off roaders.
Thar is for those who need to balance city and offroad.

I think most of these buyers don't live in a jungle....do 80% usage would be on a Tarmac. So which do you choose.

The Gorkha is for Men, the Thar is for boys. The Gorkha has much more character and ruggedness. And it demands smart off road driving skills. This makes driving a Gorkha a challenging but rewarding experience. Force Gorkha for the win!!

Gurkha is more practical here better seat layout more luggage space Hardcore off road capabilities, Thar is more aspirational here. Yes it has definitely more power and better interior that's about it. Want to travel long/ or do bit off road with family take Gurkha. Thar ok it will be good for weekend end trip nearby for couples. Seriously!
