    Paul Wood is one lucky soul,to get the last hurrah,the most awesome guitar in TH-cam history, although retirement is not all it's cracked up to be,hopefully Caleb can take over,and keep this channel as amazing as you have, thanks for all your fine work Mr Rose, enjoy.

    Jerry? Have you seen the old panty hose trick for checking out your fret dressing job? I have carpal tunnel in both hands so this really helps me out. You cut the feet off of an old pair of panty hose. Now you have 2 mittens. Slide your hand into 1 and run it up and down the sides of the neck. If it grabs anywhere you know exactly what fret that needs a little more dressing. Im sure you have a better way, but this method really helps me out with my neuropothy problems. I know you have hand problems as well. Love you Jerry.

    A hint on removing stubborn painter's tape.....use a hair dryer or heat gun set on low to heat the tape. It' softens the adhesive and pulls off without the damage you get from "cured" tape.

    A razor blade makes a great squeegee for filling shallow details like that end block design. Really loving this series. And thanks to Caleb for getting these out!

    "Highly accurate measurements is overated...just fitting everything by hand is where it's at." That quote had me rolling...especially when your measurements are often thousands of an inch. I literally laughed out loud. Thanks Jerry! Lol!

      Also, just curious as to your reason for not doing the salt trick. I've heard of that and felt like if I built a guitar I'd be hesitant. But you've built a lot more guitars than me for sure. Curious to hear why you wouldn't do it.

    At around 40: 00, he's talking about how hard it is to clamp the binding to the end of the fretboard. He's also mentioned several times the struggles he has with holding certain parts steady for working, or gluing. There's old saying: "Archimedes said 'Give me a place to stand and I'll move the world.' The carpenter said 'Hold the dang thing steady so I can work on it!'"

    Getting down to the wire on this one! I like the way you used a leather strop CREATE a rolled edge on the scraper, rather than removing one as usual.

    A truly beautiful instrument Jerry, a real masterpiece. I am in absolute awe of your skills and your incredible patience. It must be so daunting starting an instrument like this and then constantly nerve wracking hoping you won’t make a mistake that ruins your work! I love how inventive you are at solving problems. It may be your last commissioned guitar, but you should be proud to have ended with such a triumph. Thank you for sharing with us.

    Right on for making sure things are tight.
    Just had a quarter inch router bit sink into my neck cavity when it came loose at 20,000 RPM. I always treat routers with care, but mistakes can always happen.
    Scared the hell out of me.

    As regards helping reduce air holes in epoxy, I've noticed that many, who use similar two-part resin products, run a heat gun (or in some cases, a torch) over the pour area as soon as they've poured the product. As I understand, it helps bring the air bubbles to the surface, and eliminate them. Now, I know you're applying it much thinner than they are in their 2" + deep pours, but perhaps the same approach would work for your needs. It would be nice to hear what others who have been using this technique may have to say.

    Some of the quick slide clamps can be retrofit/flipped to spread rather than clamp. One of those might good for the sound hole clamp you needed to finish the fret board.

    Hey Jerry , more of a workshop chat question, always been meaning to ask about the “carpet?” On top of your work bench. Is it carpet and how do you keep it from holding hold dirt n sawdust . It always looks clean

    • @SeekingTheLoveThatGodMeans7648
      @SeekingTheLoveThatGodMeans7648 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing it's a carpet with an even 1/4 inch or so pile, not super shag of course, and he vacuums it between jobs with his shop vacuum and that's enough unless he has spilled liquid on it. Some things might not vacuum off too well, though, like graphite. Do you change it out every so often Jerry?

    Can you not use laser cutter to cut the new bridge

    • @RosaStringWorks
      @RosaStringWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It might have been possible but the problem is Blackwood as ebony is difficult to cut all the way through it though it would do it

    • @stevedimebag
      @stevedimebag 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RosaStringWorks another option could be to attach the pattern to the ebony and then use a flush trim router bit (very sharp and fluted) to get that shape done very quickly.

    Is the uneven spacing between the bottom of the fretboard & top looks closer to top at the back end a more gap at the top at the neck dovetail joint or is a camera illusion ?

    Did you use wood filler before applying varnish ?

    • @zapa1pnt
      @zapa1pnt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry does not use grain fillers. He finds the multiple applications and sanding in between to be no different than multiple coats of finish and sanding, so just a waste of time.
      Also, the fillers change the color of the wood.
