The problem is the silence of electric cars has been ruined by Health & Safety mandates (UK at least) so now they all have to create noise pollution so idiots don't walk in front of them - in which case may as well choose a cool sound rather than high pitch whine.

Motorcycles don't need to be loud, but are to assist everyone else on the road to hear them. I completely agree with this and think all cars especially EV's should make some kind of exterior noise. It's just extra cool that you can pick any car exhaust to chose from.

I had a G8 GT with electric exhaust cutouts and it was a lot of fun turning on and off.

I am looking into a Tesla Model 3 performance atm, what turned me off was: The look, The quietness, and the fact I love manual. I am happy to overlook it being auto. This video has made me lean even closer to buying one. If I do I so want a StarWars sound for acceleration + the Teslagini bodykit.

This reminds me of the sound boxes they make for radio controlled cars. With some of them you can change to different exhaust sounds too.
So, is the sound coming from factory interior speakers or is there some sort of speaker system installed on the exterior of the car?
I think they mentioned in the video that the sound only comes from aftermarket speakers that have been installed underneath the car.
Haven’t these been around since the nineties? I remember on a tv program called Beyond 2000 they had a module fitted to a small car and it worked just the same....

The beauty of this system is it does not use interior speakers. It has powerful exterior speakers. Sound comes in to the cabin from the outside making it very authentic.
Tesla doesn’t have external speakers though..you can’t make an update that makes speakers

I'd much rather have a noiseless and faster acceleration. It's way more powerful in terms of "I'm not even doing anything and look at me being faster than everything" than "I have to be loud to show that I'm fast but still slower in the end". Just my opinion.

I think putting a sound, preferably unique to the car, is a good idea.
It's like an acoustic speedo for the driver if you will. Call it a driver aid. I think noise on EVs are justified.

To assist the transition from combustion engines to electric it would be logical to atleast make the car aesthetically pleasing. The Tesla without the mods looks weak, with the mods it's now something I'd potentially consider. Very nicely done and love the exhaust sound. I'd love the to get some real engine sounds like the big petrol machines.
