- The R35 Nissan GTR is may be many things, but one thing it is not is SLOW. For 2012 there were some big changes that were made. Under the hood is a 3.8L twin-turbo V6 pumping out 530HP & mated to a 6-speed DCT gearbox. On the exterior there are some updates for aerodynamic efficiency. The interior also has updates to improve usability and drivability. Now that time has passed and there are plenty of R35 GTRs that are on the used car market. Is this 2012 Nissan GTR the supercar bargain of the century?

Common knowledge down here in OZ having witnessed it destroying the opposition in the late 80s and early 90s! However, as far as trivia is concerned, it's also interesting to note that during the creation of this current R35 shape, the then head of Nissan Mr. Carlos Ghosn (currently an internationally wanted fugitive!!) asked that the only feature of the GTR that was not negotiable were the signature round rear tail lights. The engineers and designers were pretty much free to do as they pleased with the remainder of the vehicle.
I thought it was common knowledge so why keep explaining it. Good review!
At the beginning of the video he says that the R35 is godzilla but then he explains why the R32 was named Godzilla.. truth is the R32 is the only Godzilla on the whole GTR line R34s aren't Godzilla same goes with R35

Used car prices are crazy now in 2021 compared to when this video came out.
There's a 2009 GTR in my city ( Canadian price ) of 75,000$ with only 46000 kms on it. I find that to be decent

This reaction was so awesome, I have a 2012 GTR and his reaction sooooo sums up how I feel about this car. When I first drove it back 680km from when I bought, it was simply car heaven, I ran out of superlatives driving it with a grin from ear to ear :)

@@mattbudesa3038 Yep, still enjoying it. I have put a lot of miles on it and daily it. Not extremely expensive outside of things like tires and if you need new rotors/brake pads like I did cause it was higher mileage GTR. I don't think I'll ever not own one. The dream is a 720s but I'd still love to have the GTR daily ;)

Oh man, Joe’s reaction is priceless. My top 3 dream cars are a GTR, STI and an EVO, I would pick any of them over any other car in a heartbeat.
Everything from 20:15 and onwards is pure gold 😭😭 had that same feeling riding shotgun in my friends WRX STI and now I’m absolutely in love with cars 😂😂. That sensation made me fall in love. Can’t wait to get that license, trying to make it happen soon rather than later.

I have a '15 Black Edt. GTR and I absolutely love it! $65k is a good deal for this '12. I paid $60 for mine 8 months ago with 46k mi. Aftermarket exhaust makes a substantial difference in noise and acceleration.

GT-R column-mounted paddle shifters have always been leather-trimmed magnesium, at least until the 2017 MY redesign when they became steering-mounted plastic.

So glad you got to drive it Joe! Did they tell you "No launches!"? I've heard there is a finite number of launches before the transmission needs rebuilding or something like that. I'm gonna guess that a roll-on in first would be just as good.

GTR R35 is great car but I think its past its prime and has to much electronics in it if you want to just whoop on the race track this is the car if you want a real driver's experience this is not the car
I totally get what you are saying! A Shelby GT350 is a much more engaging experience but this thing is lightening fast!
To a certain extent, yes. There are no supercars like the Nissan GT-R and Chevy Corvette that offer anywhere close the performance for the money. However I would also acknowledge that buying any used car with over 400hp, be it a “super car”, europeon expensive sedan, or American pony muscle car is asking for more trouble than its worth.
Generally, the type of people that buy those types cars and sell them later on at huge losses with poor resale value are sadly not very sharp, have little sense for money, and abuse their cars as appliances while neglecting regular maintenance.
A coworker bought a used Ford Raptor and Porsche Cayman S. Boy were they both endless money pits 😂. Couldn’t rely on them to make it to the gas station in one piece.
Idk about buying a used GT-R, driveline issues from hard launches and abuse are well known, very expensive to repair. This car seems to attract people who shouldn't be driving them. Ultimate JDM fanboy car. Meh, I'll still take a vette over it, looks dated to me.
I would share all those concerns. Without knowing the previous owner and the vehicle's prior treatment I'd be very leery of dropping $65K on any high performance used car.
