Well, I am selling my McLaren 570s and getting a GTR. I have to go every 2 weeks to Glasgow dealership to fix various issues. I am totally fed up. What you forget to mention is the cost of maintenance for other supercars. This video won't change my mind and I will get the GTR within next few weeks
Spot on. To me this video is basically - "Tell me how you don't own a GTR / a supercar in a video." Having a few crazy cars of my own, I would say the GTR is the perfect weekend / occasional grocery getter / highway cruiser. If I wanted to do a track day I'd hop in the 911 GT3 - but on a daily basis to lift the car everytime I see a speedbump is just way too much work. If I wanted to have a nice drive to work and back I'd just get in the M4 - but it doesn't have enough soul from the S55 and the sound from the back is.. not great. But it does have great fuel economy. If I wanted a compromise between the 2, I'd pick the GTR, every day.
@@daddybotz I did and regret it. Gt-r are pieces of shit. The "common" transmission noises aren't normal and no car should make em. It's just Nissan using it as a scapegoat not to fix it.
I agree 100%... but undeniably as you put it the cars saving grace is the price and aftermarket support. instead of putting 300K into a turbo S, I can put 200K into buying a new GTR and 100k into mods and come out the other side with a 3-5x better performing car. There is no faster street car. The GTR is king of roll and dig races. Texas2k 2023 shows us that the nissan v6 is more powerful than an R8 v10 or huracan v10 or Viper v10 with the proper mods. Track performance is a different story. I imagine it would end up being a similar story however with the money in mods being spent in the right places to gain that track performance over the straight line performance. That's part of the beauty of a GTR is that it can be molded to be anything you want that will outperform anything when you look at it from a Price/Performance stance. Yes it needs a better interior, yes it needs to be updated to the R36 soon, yes it's not a german made car. However it is less expensive to maintain, less expensive to replace and has way more aftermarket support. great all-around car and super valid as a daily or race car.
One more thing to add. You mentioned that Nissan can improve the GTR by allowing locked power distribution for AWD. Aftermarket AWD controller already exist exactly for this reason and run in the $500-$800 range. They have proven to improve handling immensely on the GTR. Another thing to note about the atessa system, which you got wrong.. It is not a 50/50 split ever. The most the car ever puts to the fron is roughly 18%, which is why an aftermarket AWD controller on these cars have a huge effect on the handling because they allow for a locked split up to 50%
www.autoevolution.com/news/nissan-gt-r-s-secret-attesa-e-ts-awd-system-explained-35006.html It's center of mass and 4 wheel drive. It's not just the aggressive atessa system, it's where the weight it located. imagine pushing a stool from the bottom as an example of weight transfer. A stool is certainly more top heavy than a GTR but with over 500hp the transfer is noticable, I would recommend seeing the car in person next to other similarly priced supercars to better compare its general stature and height.
I disagree. First, I would venture less than 5% of GT-R owners hit the track. Having a higher ride height is smart for the 99% of the time you drive on regular roads. I hate worrying whether I can clear a curb or angled slope. Second, the GT-R is a fraction the price of other supercars like the Huracan. Third, the analysis should be $/fun. Here, the GT-R is a huge winner as it brings a smile to face each time I drive it. Yes, I own a 2015 GT-R…and a Dodge Viper…and a custom built reverse trike….and my best friend owns a Huracan - point being I have experience for comparisons.
Dude, you can’t compare Supercars that come with $150-$230,000-plus price tags to a car that costs 50-100% less. You’re not comparing apples with apples. For someone to get the performance of a GTR without paying through the nose (as you would for a Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini) the options are extremely limited. If you want the types of upgrades of those brands and models expect a hefty jump in price for a GTR to match the Supercars you compare them to…but for me (as a previous GTR owner) I can honestly say that it was never worth it to buy a Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini because the cost/benefit ratio was/is insanely out of balance. They’re really more of a status symbol for those who can afford them rather than a good value for money proposition.
I'm in the market for a GTR and open to varying opinions of the car to help me make an informed decision which is why I watched this entire video. This though seems like an overly negative video comparing GTRs to some supercars that cost 100k+ more and focusing on every negative while barely touching on the positives that do make this car special.
@@madflysports8458 agreed. I have a bolt-on 2010 and it’s an absolute blast wether on the track or street. I highly Recommend , one of the best cars ever Made.
Did you get a GT-R ? I'm looking for one. This review is negative, all other reviews are mostly positive. Difference is that he never drives a GTR in his review.
@Gustav Gave up on the idea of owning a GT-R. Got a Mercedes as a second car for winter fun next to my BMW. Probably cheaper. Insurance is insane on a GT-R.
Ok I got to say that after watching this video, I definitely keep my position on this car. I was expecting REAL flags about it, even though he says it is not a super car killer just because it does not let you slide it on corners or slam it into pole lights or whatever 😆 what for him becomes negative, for me becomes more positive every time so. Thank you for making this video! Really helped me out A LOT!
No one, in today's car scene, considers the GT-R as a Super Car (SC) In fact, it's been called the SC kllr. Maybe back in 2009 - 2012 it could've been considered as one, but in today's market it's nothing of the sort. It's $200k less than Lambo and $75k - $125k less than some Porsche SCs. In today's car scene we're purchasing used GT-R s and modifying them to kill those cars significantly more than the GT-R. Who buys a SC for a luxury ride? If you want a luxury ride, try a Benz, Bentley or Cadillac. No one purchasing a GT-R in the spirit of what it's for is looking for comfort. Yes, I own one and it meets my expectations, annihilating Vipers, ZR1s and sport bikes. Yes, it's modified, but the costs is nowhere near the cost of the aforementioned SCs. Out dated, I'll give you that, but I'll line it up against anything and know they'll get a run for their money. The GT-R is a sports car, not a SC. No one I know refers to it as a SC. It's clearly evident you never tapped into the car's true performance bc so many of your concerns would be mute.
I don't doubt that Nissan raised the price every year, but it doesn't seem like you took inflation into consideration when looking at the price year to year.
I worked as an instructor dealing with this car and its fans for 5 years, so I must agree with you. Between the car, and the people who usually drive the car, I can say I don't like either of them.
@@projectcar1079 hahaha thats fair, people should always be reasonable about what they like but too often people's interests cause a large bias. I hate to say it but you did make some great points about it... slowly killin dreams over here :)
I see one big problem with your review, comparing a 100k car with 160-260k cars, the GTR is what the MkIV Supra originally was, a big, comfy and luxurious Sports GT, not a Supercar. No one in the 90s compared a Supra with a Lambo of the time it just isnt fair neither considering price nor performance. The GTR is what it is, a gentle GT at an affordable price, want a track weapon? Go porsche gtrs. Want ultimate speed? Bugatti and Koeningsegg have many offers... Apples to apples comparisons is what this car needs. Anyway, a good video, keep it up!
You make a lot of valid points, but coming from an owner of a GTR, a lot of us didnt buy the car to keep it stock or solely for a track. I personally bought mine because it dominates everything in straight line performance. Obviously it takes money to do so, but coming in at less than half the cost of most of the cars you compare them to, I can live with it. Sure, the GTR does not live up to its name anymore in stock configuration, but only an idiot (IMO) would buy one of these cars brand new when a low mileage used one can be had for 60-80k. That also leads to where the biggest issue with the GTR stems... NISSAN's constantly raising the price of this car with no true improvements. If this was still a 70k MSRP car new, I suspect that you would not be so harsh. In conclusion, the GTR doesnt suck, but it is dated and overpriced.
First off, great video. Super informative. Your criticism of the Gtr's evolution over the years is fair. However, it's hard to compare the Gtr when it wad first T unleashed on this world to the current one. When the Gtr hit the scene it forced everyone to up their game. Compare a 2010 with other 2010s and it's clear the GTR is indeed the supercar killer. The crazy track times have been measured by others like top gear. The more recent Gtr's, I agree, have lost their edge. Not enough innovative improvements over the years.
Thats what I was thinking as I am in the market for one... and despite the video I still wanna get one. I doubt my GT-R will ever see a track but for weekend drives this will be a fun car.
@@marco30599 tbh the only real issue with this car id transmission on pre 2012 models. Still if cheap enough I would consider a pre 2012 if the price leaves room for teinforcement costd and leaved a margin. (If I was in the hunt for one I mean )
I love my 2014 GT-R. Iv'e had it for 7 years now, I like the sound of the clutches and turbos and so on. It isn't always about what other people like and don't like, it's about what you like. They call this , "Keeping up with the Joneses!" Great video, sir!
It's all about the $$$ and I'm still seeing alot of Supercars in my rear view mirror 😂... I'd be pissed too if I paid that much coin to see the sexy ass of a GTR 😂😂...
Adam you hit the nail right on the head. I have a 1400 horse power Nissan GTR and I feel the same and always think the same as you do whenever I'm racing any one. Of these ridiculously priced grocery underrated grocery under performing supercar's. I just love it when I see them in a rear view mirror and I don't mean by 1 or 2 cars. I mean by 1520 car links. You beat them so bad it's gotta make them. Wonder why did I spend all this money for this piece of s*** and I'm. A 77 year old guy just been racing since he was 14. When I get the chance I always remind the guys if they pull app next to me after we've raced. I always make sure I ask them. You paid how much for that piece of garbage and they just don't know what to say and pull off with their tails between your legs and that's exactly what it's all about.
Isn't that the truth? I've got a 1400 horse power Switzer built Nissan GTR that was done in 2017 and I am amazed at all the. Dumb people that spend money for Lamborghini's Ferrari's in Porsche. When? For the 250? $1000. I spent I beat these cars by 2530 car lengths in less than half a mile. It is totally embarrassing. To spend that kind of money and then have your a** whooped by Ag Tr. But I love it still can't understand why anybody would buy. These? Other piece of c*** cars.
Crazy how this guy made a 25 min video bashing the gtr's very subtle and minor changes over the years but he didn't take 1 min to think over the fact that THAT is exactly what makes the gTR the number one sports car when it comes to depreciation next to the 911, another icon rhat makes very minor changes annually to a true and tested product. This isnt a bmw or mercedes or audi churning out a whole new car every two years pal. Its a GTR ! Its already perfect
I love how this car (base model GTR) is downplayed on its capabilities and yet every car it was compared to (besides the Z06, which by comparison is still slower than the GTR in a drag race) costs damn near $100k more. I wonder what the car could be capable of on a track if all that residual money was spent improving it, so it’s a real apples to apples comparison. No need to even discuss 1/4 mile times... we all know who is king in that arena. Nothing to see here... just a well edited video with a controversial title. Good job bud... you got me to watch it. By the way, I drove the car at Exotic Racing out in Vegas... and it’s what made me buy the car. I know there are better handling cars out there, but for 90% of those super cars produced, they never see a track... so the GTR remains awesome in my book, and with the right mods, destroys everything in the real world, regardless of factory cost ;)
Nice Video, I myself own a GTR and love every moment of it. It is hefty car, but I wouldn't want it any other way, I feel confident when driving it, the other cars are fast but they feel like glass cannons when driving. Remember it was a GTR that split the tesla in haft.
@@projectcar1079 i understand your point of view, the GTR is old technology, but most car manufacturers ways of thinking is, if it isn't broken why fix it right? Look at Toyota cars in the past versus now, plus it took 3 -13 years for other manufacturers to catch up to the gtr and near its price range. What they did is amazing, they took a 3800lbs. Car and made it into a speed demon, you tell me would you pick a 3000 hp Lamborghini vs a 3000 hp GTR on a straight away, I bet you one of the two will fly and it isn't the gtr. As for style, yes the GTR is a soap 📦.
@@hksrb25s16 I wouldn't use the word catch up... The C6 Z06 Corvette has always been a faster car at a lower price point. The Ferrari 458 blew everything out of the water in 2009. You own a GTR so I understand there's some bias there, the GTR is great at drag racing and street driving which is what the public mainly desires anyway. However, I have a problem when people start trying to turn the car into a rolling symbol of perfection. Go drive an NSX and you will understand how far Nissan has fallen behind.
@@projectcar1079 i had the nsx, and its the reason why i traded in for a 2019 gtr, you can't base your information on what other people had said about the GTR, those people don't even own one or drive one, it's like the idiot's that say it drives like a playstation? I have a feeling you are basing it on a few drives, the difference there is you are not driving it hard enough, you basically took information from other people videos and put it in yours, i seen videos like these and the people ended ended up not even owning one or driven one. Plus the cars you mentioned, the gtr will eat them in the track. As for the Ferrari, the price bro. You get what you paid for.
Your inaccuracies started within the first 2 minutes and only went on from there. The car was not introduced with 485 hp. It was 480 hp. If you had spent as much time with the car as you say you did, seems like you would know that simple fact. To me the whole video sounds like you too many times got put in the rearview mirror of an R35 on the track.
2017 gtr is the way to go. I really don't care about track days, I want straight line rocket. I think parts are a little too expensive. I'm itching between GT-R or Porsche 997 turbo manual.
Daily driver if you want to go straight line fast why not a Camaro or mustang or motorcycle?but if what the vlogger says is accurate and I believe hes probably correct then maybe you have the right car?!!
@@darylvanderford4307 I bought 2009 GTR for damn cheap :) clean title, second owner, fully stock! GTR is the right car for me :) I prefer AWD cars-do to winter driving. it's not my daily! Did wheels, midpipe, build trans...and few other things...
It really comes down to what or how much you can afford: the car, the maintenance cost, replacement parts cost and etc....Obviously if you have the $$$$$$ to burn, why not go with the most expensive sports car that costs millions of dollars.
I appreciate the honesty I have driven 1 and did feel somewhat disappointed at times but it didn’t out way how much I enjoyed the car and still in the market for 1 (2017+ fbo) maybe when the new hybrid 1 comes out I’ll get that 1 as well🤷🏿♂️
A certain pair of muscle cars need a video like this one, too. Nevertheless, in 2021, it's obvious the GT-R sucks. It's old. I'm surprised it's still being produced. But nothing will change how back in 2007 it humiliated its competition and made Porsche react like a spoiled brat. Its fanbase is one of the worst though!
Currently GTRs are around $5K to $100K above MSRP, depending on the trim. Why? Because of all the reasons you failed to mention: - The best bang for the buck to go fast IN A STRAIGHT LINE and not have a Mustang-YT moment - Airstrip Attack competition is basically ruled by Lambos and GTRs - On that note, GTRs will humiliate just about any supercar on a straight line with a few mods Your argument revolves around, "but when you drive it in the track", over and over. Have you been to a TX2K? Airstrip Attack? As mentioned previously, there are very few GTR owner that leave the car stock. My Black Edition had 650hp/650tq just with FBO/e85 at 7,000ft in elev (tuned by Tim Bailey). Plenty enough for me, but not to my friends with 1,000 and 1,500hp. With the GTR, your pockets are the limit. Now, to be fair, I did sell mine and got a '22 M4CxD. Out of the box, much faster and responsive than the GTR. And FBO/e85 is yielding better results as well with the new S58 engine that's been good for 1,000hp stock (according to YT). But with the BMW you will lose sound & looks, but you'll gain more power (stock), comfort, advance electronics, and luxury (compared to Nissan). Yet, here I find myself eyeballing a T-Spec @ MSRP. Why? Because of the GTR's P-O-T-E-N-T-I-A-L!!! and driving experience for less than $150K At the end of the day, you created a good "click bait", by using an overly sensationalized title that was going to hit a love/hate response from your viewers. But for a "GTR that SUCKS", it sure keeps its value better than the competition. >
And to be honest, look against who the GTR is going against around the RING: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N%C3%BCrburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times Most of those cars are much more expensive than the base model Premuium GTR at $120K, even the bMW CSL. So yes, even pretty good around a circuit.
LOL the car was made to be the fastest in the real world in any condition, not on a track with perfect conditions... Also it will easily achieve 100k miles of use without major repair. Something none of the other brands including your beloved Porsche can achieve... Nice try kid
What a lot of rubbish that was but judging by how many view you got I am not surprised ! I drove the 458 and 911 turbo, the GTR was much better handling than those 2, the GT3 RS handled better than the GTR but look at their prices!! You talked about the price, dude the GTR almost half the of a Ferrari or a 911 turbo, which car out there will give you the same performance as the GTR for the same price?? I think you've made this video to get view and get people talking about your channel but it back fired .
Wow, dude what a incredible video! It's really nice to see the opnions of someone who actually have some personal data and enough experience to talk about the car and make these comparisons. Most folks rather rely on internet sources and pure press information to form their opnion, and even with the negative coments, they tend to chose a side and just stick to it no matter what. It is really nice to see someone bring more than facts, but also some personal experiences to this kind of discussions. I don't personally agree with everything you said, maybe because I'm a little bit of a fanboy, but your statements are pretty solid and hard to deny. Just please, keep uploading dude, your videos are great! Ps:sorry about the english, I'm not exactly good at it.
Thank you for the kind words I really appreciate them, it truly helps to keep me motivated and makes all the hard work worth it. I have had some of my most heartwarming experiences while instructing in the GTR because people really love it, and I think it's amazing that so many individuals have developed such a strong bond with the car. Thank you again, and by the way your english is great! :)
In my opinion, supercars shouldn't be very luxurious, if at all. If you want to feel luxurious, get a luxury car like a Lexus, Bentley or others. If you want sheer speed, get a supercar. This is their intended purpose, so manufacturers need to stop slapping leather on any corner of the interior. Learn from the F40 and Dodge viper that didn't bother with any luxury at all
Wow! Excellent video. 2007 R35 owner for 9 years, agree with all the points. I wanted a cheap, modifiable 600hp (for reliability/boltons) road car that appears stock. 7yo daughter grew up in the back seat and is my daily. Highlight is entire north island and south island of NZ over two days - michelin star drive in a modded R35. For me it worked/works, your points are fair. I think it may age like the 300zx with all these "unobtainable" JDM original door liner/back seat or bespoke part that every previous owner threw in the rubbish prior or every part associated with a engine/Trans failure will cost the moon not in modified but as a original Nissan/NISMO product. Its a dream car and in a few days it will cease production.
Click bait... comparisons to some cars costing twice as much. Super fair. Might as well compare a civic to a corvette.... poster of this video is a tool.
Being I just brought a low mile FBO 2017 I thought I was going to hate this video... but facts are facts and as the poster said there are at least modifications that I can perform to bring out more in this car. I also have a ZL1 and I'm constantly finding where there is a downgrade in the GTR from the ZL1 of the same year. Good vid!!
I'm a big Nissan fanboy. I understand that the R35 is old and outdated. But still, I will buy an R34 and R35 as a collection and drive them from time to time to feel nostalgic about my childhood dream cars. Maybe when the R36 is out, the R35 will become cheaper. Heck, maybe even the 400Z Nismo might be better.
I am a fanboy of the GTR. It is my dream car. But after watching this video, I can truly say that the R35 has a lot of flaws, and that Nissan needs to make an R36.
Don’t know why I just ran into your video, but you did so well on the cars explanation. Never really loved the new GTR, I find it as an insult to the older version. However you said it well, because of this older companies up the game and now I’m in love with the new versions of Chevrolets, Porsche and so forth (except Mercedes). Lol I have my issues with there “learning ecu” it has so many flaws and goes right around your experience with consistence of driving. Good video. A car guy like me finally.
You don’t need 50 grand to mod a GTR, full bolt on e85 and tune along with lowering springs and installation I have about $9500 all in, I will fucking decimate your short list of cars and I’m all in 130k 2020 GTR taxes and everything
Did Porsche release a timed video or are we going on hearsay? 6:59 I'd hardly consider the GTR R35 a 4 seat car...you better hope the person in the front seat is super short or otherwise its not happening. I agree that Nissan hasn't made any significant improvements over the last 10 yrs and is in serious need of refreshing! It needs 600-700 bhp, 7,000+ RPM rev, CF brakes, and a 7 or 8 speed trans....all standard equipment and not special models. This would help bring it up to speed with a lot of the current super cars.
post more about what you think about many other cars, I'd like to hear what you have to say about BMW G82(M4) and Mazda RX-7, these being my dream car. BTW:I'm kinda new into car's world and I want to know as much as possible, and you really explain very easy to understand even for newbies like me!!. So if you could please post more!
I started a new job shortly after making this video but I'm definetly looking to start making more videos as my hours slow down. The Rx-7 Video would probably be pretty biased video if I tried to review it haha
85% disagree.... no one on this planet talked so much crap on car that changed the game on supercars world and put everyone back to drawing board... I own a 2020 gtr (bought it new) this car is amazing and yes there's going to be room for improvement but you need to show some respect and more when you have no idea what the company it's been through...this old dinosaurs like you said at these days whenever I go people takes pictures and dreams to go for a ride... i have respect for all car fans out there...
There's a lot of fiction in this, I own one and I can tell you it blows my mind how this thing corners, literally defies it's 2 tonne weight. Just ask Jeremy clarkson, you know that person who is an actual motoring journalist? Yes this is old tech now compared to the newer cars, but it's still mighty impressive. Oh and lastly, every driving experience day I've been too every instructor says they would have the gtr over any other car so you are on your own there I think.
I could careless about how much it can take a turn...not buying a gtr to drive it around a track a million times lol. I bought it to drive to drive on the streets and to look good...if i want a racecar ill go buy a racecar lol
You claimed objectivity but I don't hear any objectivity in the latter half of this video. 😐 The writing and delivery is laced with what seems to be your own personal grievance and bias, which shouldn't be in play here. And the comparisons being made here which are supposed to downplay the R35 just bring it back up. When a Nissan is objectively being compared to 2x-3x priced luxury supercars, you can't pretend it's a fair comparison. And as for track and speed, AMS would like to have a word with you. You can throw 20k into a 2012MY and outrun almost anyone for less than half the net price. Lots of people like to compare stock to stock, but when it comes to high performance vehicles, that becomes useless. Different manufacturers have different restrictions and goals, and the absolute potential of different models shouldn't fall victim to that. I do seriously agree that Nissan is long overdue to refresh the car, but when did car enthusiasts give a shit about age? I thought half of it was enjoying all vehicles, not just recent ones.
I am confused when you try to demonstrate your association with the GTR then you showed a bunch of clips of the exotic car events. So you are an "instructor" there and how that makes you have any association with the car? I have been one of those "instructors" for a company on the east coast as well, and I will say you will not get the full potential out of any cars in those environment. The only thing I would agree with you on the entire video is the cars age and is no longer a value proposition like it once was given the MSRP now. Does the car have flaws? Sure. Does it still perform relative to the new cars on the market? Sure, not butt kicking performance because everything had caught up. I get it, the GTR is a car that you either love it or hate it, nothing in between. Good video to promote the exotic car events though and ultimately I think that's what you are trying to do by using a catchy topic for viewership.
I think if you are going to claim the AWD is inconsistent you really need to explain further what you mean. I have not at any time think the AWD is not being consistent. Having a locked power distribution is exactly why most awd cars don't behave like the GtR. If you learn to drive with the GTR system, it is awesome. But when you try to fight it thinking you can do it better than the car then that's when you are not able to extract its full potential. I agree the car is not for everyone but your criticism seems exactly on the other end of fanboism.
You can't compare Volkswagens like audi, Lamborghini or porches to a Nissan GTR. Volkswagen stepped up their game with the porche and that would probably be the only Volkswagen I will buy, if I was not worried about the cost of maintenance. All other volkswagens and supercars have quality control issues. They lack the spirit and character of a Nissan GTR. Still waiting to see a Volkswagen or any supercar built go faster on a drag strip or a air field faster than a built gtr. They dominate all supercars when built 237mph on a quarter mile drag strip is impressive tx2k23 and no other built cars ever done this. I would not buy a gtr and keep it stock. I would buy a gtr build it and dominate every other built supercar there is on the planet.
That's what I thought, I was surprised the number of likes this video got after all this research. Keep up the good work man, I better check out his other videos too
I skipped staight to the critisisum part to get the worst of it over. To hear that the car that I have loved since I was little is an "Insult" to the freakin modern aged *ss cars, just really pissed me off. How dare you say something like that about a car I care so much about! Sure it is old, I'll give you that, but going back to you saying it is an "insult" to modern cars really pisses me of. It's a piece of history and should be treated with care. Don't ask why I clicked on this video then, My curiosity got the best of me. But never did I expect to hear that. Also, who said anything about you having to race that car? You don't have to, the brakes might just last longer if anyone was -- *sighs* point is that, you can just drive these as normal cars to ya know.
Watching this video you mentioned a lot of interesting points about 2008 models till current. I have to agree with what you said. In the beginning it was impressive, even now performance wise it can hold it own, but the prices are up there and what I don't understand is the 2008 are still high. The C8 corvette accelerate faster but less expensive or around the same price. Thanks for sharing.
One of the best motor magazines in the world, Top Gear on the GT-R: "it is one of the most incredible cars ever built of any kind" 🗿 A TH-camr with 7k subs: "it sucks, too easy to drive" 🤓
And after all this, Misha absolutely loves the GTRs around the ring and thinks Lamborghinis are rubbish and alot of the times dangerous. So yes you make a valid point with everything being better lol
You can't say "I don't believe Nissans time around the ring, but I believe what Porsche says about the GTRs time around the ring." That's a flat out bias.
The aftermarket options alone make the GTR worth it. The platform is good out of the box but not the best as it is half the price of other super cars, but it is a car you can build to whatever you want it to be.
As a true R35 fan boy (since 2007), I do believe and/or know everything you said about R35, however I don't necessarily feel the same way about these facts. Yes it's tall, heavy, soft, always trying to take the wheel from a pro driver, and most of all, 16 year old (to this day), and no, I would never expect a 2024 GT-R can stay anywhere near a 992... any model. But, before 2014, aka the year Mizuno, the guy who created R35 left Nissan, there are a number of direct comparisons held by 3rd-party medias that proved R35 can go as fast as anything costs twice or even three times as much. No matter how it felt to drive, it did deliver some solid lap records, that alone says that R35 doesn't suck at all. As for its age, well, I'm pretty sure Mizuno wasn't expecting Nissan to keep selling a single model for over 10 years, so it's surely not his fault, it's just Nissan being greedy, refusing to pull the plug (in some way it's a good thing). Back in 2007, when GT-R was first time revealed, it was advertised as a car that can be driven fast by anyone, anywhere, any time, and later it was referred as a "supercar killer". You see the problem now? It was never meant to be like all the other supercars that can go crazy fast in the hands of a pro, it was never specificly built for a pro, if you are expecting a "supercar" instead of its "killer", well you are expecting wrong, and the reasons for you to think GT-R sucks, the steel frame, the soft suspension, the AWD system, for me, they are simply choices Mizuno made, not exactly "flaws". If all these was not convincing, let me ask you this: if Nissan made a supercar that performs, feels, costs like a 911, or 458, or 12C, or Vette, only with a GT-R badge, will it be any better than the actual R35?
With $5K worth of mods (FBO/e85), the GTR can safely and conservatively get to mid 600hp/tq range. What's that using the industrial standard of crank HP? 750hp? + AWD! I think I only knew a hand full of GTR owners in the GTRLife forum that actually took their GTRs to the circuit, all others were focus on 1/4mi, 1/2mi., and 60-120mph+ times. Good points, never the less.
I love gtr but yeah it feels like a boat nissan should switch to a carbon monocoque chassis, They should take note with lotus evora, 911 carrera, Alpine A110
@@ooohhenrybmblm no offense mate! But I own 2 gt car cayman gt4 and evora gt410 so nissan should have no excuse... Ps: I know gtr has a awd powerplant but the weight is more on the chassis and exterior design specially the boxy look. 991 is in the same alley of gtr so come on!
I bought my 2010 GTR (manufacture date Jan 2009) new. It wiped the competition back then. Spend $5000 in mods (tune, intake, exhaust, suspension) and it still eats almost any new car made today. I laugh every time I remember how reviewers complained about the dual clutch transmission and AWD. "It drives itself they said" and it's too big. Now every Tom, Dick, and Harry car has a dual clutch, and electronics that drive the car! And now they are great! Yeah TESLA!!! >5000 lb. is great and steers like a boat! Spend $300,000 on a supercar, and you may spend $600,000 in repairs! I know a friend who owns a Ferrari 458 Italia, and it is in the shop more than it is on the road. I'm never selling my GTR, it does not suck, and I don't want to get wrapped around a telephone pole driving a light rear wheel drive supercar going 100 mph around a corner, check out TH-cam. What happened to Paul Walker?
It’s literally called Grand Tourer! It’s in the name! Why are people complaining that this car handles like a boat when it wasn’t designed to have sharp accuracy like Porsches and Ferraris? It’s a grand tourer, damn it! That’s why the car spoils you inside out as a driver and passenger.
I like how you just conveniently left out the price difference, profit margin and how much of a downhill the company was going through at the time. the reason why nissan didn't update the car is simply is company is not making enough money to justify the r&d.
One of my favorite car designs (the r34 with its purple colour oh mann...) turned inti a fuc.... clone of an Aston Martin Vanquish. 2007 is when Skyline GTR die for me.
I might agree with some points. Not gonna lie - I'm just a backseat guy and don't know every detail about any of these cars, but I think you missed a thing. Japanese cars, especially the turbocharged ones, were always about tuning. It all comes from the times of the gentleman's agreement, when car manufacturers limited the amount of horsepower to 280. Now, even with that amount of power, cars were great. But the thing is, if we're talking about GT-Rs, most of the R32-R34s didn't really have that amount of power, it was bigger. Much bigger, in fact (the famed Calsonic R32, HKS, the R33 400R and so on, not to say that your "regular" GT-Rs can relatively easy reach 350-400hp). Back to your point about that you don't have to install mods to get more performance - maybe you're right, but to me, this car, along with the legendary JDM cars of the past, is and always has been about tuning and customizing it to your liking. VR38DETT is a worthy successor (if you could call it that) to the RB26 and has the same traits. With enough effort this engine will produce loads more power - say, 800hp for "everyday use" is somewhat realistic, while the heavily modified VR38DETTs in drifting can make a 1000 or even 1200hp. Obviously, it's not just about the engine, suspension also can be modified to handle such power, and so is many, many more parts and systems. That said, the ATESSA and weght things you said are really on point.
I'd buy one but in my eyes the gtr is overrated, with how old the car is, everyone has had one or still has theirs, and I would prefer a hurrican over a gtr
If a car is built in a wind tunnel why would u ever wanna change the design of it? And if u in a gtr and a Lamborghini passes u u have the assurance that u gonna catch him and most likely pass him 🤷🏽♂️ no matter how prettier his car looks lol. As far as ur comment on putting money into it in parts to make the gtr faster likewise with all these other cars especially if they tryna beat a gtr lol and what u smoking when u talking about the handling bro the rims have special notches to keep the tires from flying off when your Turning at high speeds lol the thing is literally 90% made for the road/track and 10% for looks and that 10% is sexy Af Lolol
Funny title, I knew most of this when I got my 2015 new. Nissan sucks for not updating it! The GTR on the other hand is a great road car that performs very very well on a track and with minor mods runs with those other cars. So that says a lot about the platform. It's reliable / comfortable / legendary vibe ... - GTR put the world on notice. - World copies GTRs DNA with improvements for big $$. - GTR owners max out the platform and "beats" world. To me the GTR rocks. I like most of those cars. It's all good fun and the title is catchy.
Great video , pretty accurate but GT-R is lot of times quicker on track compare to competitors and it is much easier to get to good lap times. It is through that feeling is numb and electronics do half of that work but it get the job done. I wouldn't buy it over 458 or 911 just because of numb feeling on the track as you say but that car goes like a train and it is scary consistent lap after lap.
Did you get it one?
Agree with you, tried different cars and does not compare. This car just does it without question
I'd still buy one
Yup, I did.
@@daddybotz I did and regret it. Gt-r are pieces of shit. The "common" transmission noises aren't normal and no car should make em. It's just Nissan using it as a scapegoat not to fix it.
So you got it now or still "going" to buy it? Don't blame covid pls
@@Dranreb865he said he would still buy one wtf part of that sounds like "I'm gonna buy it bro"
The most the car ever puts to the fron is roughly 18%, which is why an aftermarket AWD controller on these cars have a huge effect on the handling because they allow for a locked split up to 50%
www.autoevolution.com/news/nissan-gt-r-s-secret-attesa-e-ts-awd-system-explained-35006.html
It's center of mass and 4 wheel drive. It's not just the aggressive atessa system, it's where the weight it located. imagine pushing a stool from the bottom as an example of weight transfer. A stool is certainly more top heavy than a GTR but with over 500hp the transfer is noticable, I would recommend seeing the car in person next to other similarly priced supercars to better compare its general stature and height.
i realize Im kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to stream newly released series online ?

Also, completely ignored the price changes of porsche and other competitors.
This video reflects some negative complex you have with this vehicle and community around it rather than the car.
I own n 2015 model and I bought it 3 years ago, I have to agree with you. It’s out date but I still love it, especially with a tune.

2015-16 got more insulation, softer suspension on the premium models, and different lights. Less trans noise.
Currently GTRs are around $5K to $100K above MSRP, depending on the trim.
Why?
Because of all the reasons you failed to mention:
- The best bang for the buck to go fast IN A STRAIGHT LINE and not have a Mustang-YT moment
- Airstrip Attack competition is basically ruled by Lambos and GTRs
- On that note, GTRs will humiliate just about any supercar on a straight line with a few mods
Your argument revolves around, "but when you drive it in the track", over and over.
Why? Because of the GTR's P-O-T-E-N-T-I-A-L!!! and driving experience for less than $150K
At the end of the day, you created a good "click bait", by using an overly sensationalized title that was going to hit a love/hate response from your viewers. But for a "GTR that SUCKS", it sure keeps its value better than the competition. >
And to be honest, look against who the GTR is going against around the RING:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N%C3%BCrburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times
Most of those cars are much more expensive than the base model Premuium GTR at $120K, even the bMW CSL. So yes, even pretty good around a circuit.
It’s big…because it’s a bloody muscle car!!!
I have a 2013 R35 and 2011 wrx. R35 is so easy to drive. Wrx feels more raw. I like both.
I like how people seem to think the GT-R is affordable, and never needs repairs, and not plastic.
LOL the car was made to be the fastest in the real world in any condition, not on a track with perfect conditions... Also it will easily achieve 100k miles of use without major repair. Something none of the other brands including your beloved Porsche can achieve... Nice try kid
The GTR is similar to the Dodge Challenger. Those 2 cars have been in production since the early Since 2008.
The Corvette
@@projectcar1079 what about the ford gt350?
The nissan doesn't deserve its fame anymore
@@projectcar1079 you keep writing Corvette in the comments but in the video you talked more about Lambos and other exotic supercars. 🤦♂️
Learn from the F40 and Dodge viper that didn't bother with any luxury at all
Why? When you have money you can have the best of both worlds.
Its a dream car and in a few days it will cease production.
please make a new video, specifically the rwd vs awd because you did really well on the rwd vs fwd video and would like to see more ngl
What parts would you suggest to get and where are some of this places
No car is perfect, but the GTR does get bigged up alot, but doesn't mean it's a bad car by any means.
Click bait... comparisons to some cars costing twice as much. Super fair. Might as well compare a civic to a corvette.... poster of this video is a tool.
Great video!
The GTR is just a legendary car. I would use it as a daily driver, not at the track.
But after watching this video, I can truly say that the R35 has a lot of flaws, and that Nissan needs to make an R36.
get a 2017+ and you wouldnlt say that.
@@alanbatio4573 But it still has a lot of bodyroll, and like boi, just look at the f*****g price tag, it's too f*****g expensive, dude!!!!
@@swapneeldey1037 Or you're too scare to buy one and you're looking for excuses

Will you make a video about the 911 turbo s and your experience?
Really Good Objective Criticism.
Thank you well said
I think if you are going to claim the AWD is inconsistent you really need to explain further what you mean.
Great video man! you deserve more subscribers
Dude, love your channel
Watching this video you mentioned a lot of interesting points about 2008 models till current. I have to agree with what you said. In the beginning it was impressive, even now performance wise it can hold it own, but the prices are up there and what I don't understand is the 2008 are still high. The C8 corvette accelerate faster but less expensive or around the same price. Thanks for sharing.
One of the best motor magazines in the world, Top Gear on the GT-R: "it is one of the most incredible cars ever built of any kind" 🗿
A TH-camr with 7k subs: "it sucks, too easy to drive" 🤓
I just like rooting for the underdogs. GT-R and GT86 all day!
I love the GTR. It's a beast. Pretty simple.
The aftermarket options alone make the GTR worth it. The platform is good out of the box but not the best as it is half the price of other super cars, but it is a car you can build to whatever you want it to be.
Please make a video of the BMW GR SUPRA.. I like to hear your opinion
Haha bee emm dabelu zeee for hahaha so funi xd xd xd xd hahahaha
If you're doing track driving wouldn't you buy the nismo instead?
And I have an answer for reference, two actually, they are called "LFA" and "NSX".
Click bait 😂😂😂 I'll still by one.
Underrated
Great video man!
I love gtr but yeah it feels like a boat nissan should switch to a carbon monocoque chassis, They should take note with lotus evora, 911 carrera, Alpine A110
With that chassis and this engine, it would cost an unholy amount of money. Especially for a "daily driven sports car".
The reason it’s a “boat” is that it’s a grand tourer. It’s in the name for Christ’s sake!
13:36 size doesn´t matter if you doing it right like the GT-R ..he has still less air resistance with 0,26 than a Turbo S with 0,33
It’s literally called Grand Tourer!
I love all my gtr's aswell
One of my favorite car designs (the r34 with its purple colour oh mann...) turned inti a fuc.... clone of an Aston Martin Vanquish. 2007 is when Skyline GTR die for me.
i mean the GTR is good if you ask me I loved it if its like JDM or rocket bunny but the controller can be even better if you just tune it
*angry 13-year-old fanboy noises*
lmao jk im 17
It’s time for new GODZZILA
Your not wrong, I own a 370Z and honestly it's the same story.
Gtr is just a 370z with awd but on steroids.
The look is “boastful and muscular”…because it’s a bloody muscle car!!!
This opens my eyes but I still want one love the way thy sound but I would love to get the r34 or r33
First I sauf : "No Way......!"
Then with the reflexion, U're right.
To much weight and the cost is to high.
