Great video as always! Other things I include in resupply boxes beyond just meals: individual laundry soap sheets, a disposable razor, a small packet of vitamins, items to replenish first aid kit like a couple of band aids, little toiletries like a travel sized toothpaste, hand warmers in the cold early weeks, mints and small hard candies, packets of electrolyte powder to add to water, coffee packets, packets of olive or coconut oil to add to meals for extra calories, compressed hand/face towels (these are neat - just add a little water and you have a nice washcloth to clean up a bit), notes from the kids, notes from me about when to expect the next box.

Wow, it sounds as though you have done so much prep. Wedge is so lucky to have a support system like you. I know he appreciates it 😌

What's your opinion on resupply packages? Too much cost and work? Or are they the perfect way to save money?

My daughter and I are planning for next year and already have about 8 resupply boxes ready to go. It’s a way for us to save money. We plan to send to hostels or hotels along the way.

Best of luck to you. I'm sure that you have a list of places already, but have a watch of my previous two videos for possible places to resupply and where to send boxes to.

      Thank you for your videos!
My husband and I begin our AT thru-hike in early April and have 22 resupply boxes ready to go. They will be mixed about along our journey with regular town resupply.
Initially, after running through a basic idea of where we would resupply, we planned on making seven resupply boxes.
Then we did more research and since we eat vegetarian and want to get as much nutrition as possible we purchased a nice dehydrator off Craig's List and made A LOT of dehydrated meals with beans (purchased in bulk), veggies (frozen from ALDI), powders (almond, chickpea, coconut cream) and other tasty bits. We have tried our own recipes on other backpacking trips and have confidence we will enjoy them.
Making these boxes was a lot of work and we learned quite a bit as we went. We included dried fruits, nuts and calorie-rich snacks from ALDI and Trader Joe.
We figure that the cost to ship and pick up will likely offset the initial savings so it will be a wash financially. But we still think it will be worthwhile.
