Asian Boss, I hope you’d feature more interesting topics about the Philippines, too, and not always stereotypical ones like this and “how much do you earn,” “why do Filipinos have so many babies,” then asking mostly low-income demographics.
I just noticed you feature really interesting topics for other countries, yet in the Ph, it feels like your topics are to emphasize how low-life or poor the country is. Don’t you lack researchers for the PH?

I concur. The topics that Asian “Boss” choose to feature about the Philippines have all involved coloured questions that paint a degrading image of the Philippines.
Does the fact that the owner of this channel is Korean have anything to do with it?
Can’t you think of more interesting questions? Or interview a more diverse demographic in the Philippines instead of interviewing only the low income group? Or would that just not align with the narrative you want to create?

Asian Boss, why are you like this? We've been following this channel for years and it's becoming obvious that you're a victim of your own deeply ingrained racial biases that leave little for meaningful discourse about asian countries aside from South Korea, Japan, and China. Should have just named the channel East Asian Boss if all you do is put east asians in a better light while denigrating the rest of asia. Do better.

@@gewglesux The "Passport Bros" are men who have chosen to seek out foreign women, typically from other countries, for relationships. They believe that western women have been influenced by cultural and societal pressures to behave in a certain way, and that by seeking out foreign women, they can find a more authentic, fulfilling, and harmonious relationship. This is seen as a way to restore the natural balance between masculine and feminine energy, and to avoid the "wickedness" of western women.
      Source: Urban Dictionary
In other words, these are men who got tired of western women being -hoes- degenerates for da streets that they decided to seek love somewhere else. Particularly finding women that are conservative and traditionalist types aka the tradwife.

I'm a Filipina who married a Japanese guy yet I don't have any financial problems in my family. I'm one of those Filipinos who live in nice subdivisions. Thing is, when I was single, I had bad experiences with dating Filipino men. They didn't take me seriously as I wanted a date to marry route. They just cheated on me or blatantly have no long term plans. I changed the dating field and unexpectedly ended up with a Japanese man just 6yrs older than me. I seriously hate other Filipino men's comment, "nakaahon sa kahirapan" because not all Filipinas who marry are poor. Some just need better men who are serious and loyal with marriage. Insecure lang kayo (karamihan). Kadalasan kayo pa magbubuntis ng babae tapos di nyo pananagutan. That I don't like.
Currently, nasa PH kami nakatira. Sa mismong sariling bahay at lupa ko pa. Both of us work and he earns slightly higher than me kasi maraming work experience na siya than me.

Asian Boss always, always, focus on asking the low income sector or poorer sector, like almost in every video they feature about the Philippines.
Instead of addressing the stereotypes about Filipinos and Filipino women, I get it that majority of Filipinos are poor but that’s already a given, but still this channel focus on topics about how poor the country is or interviewing the poorer sector hence get the same stereotypical answers.
But they post more interesting topics for other Asian countries posted. I just feel like this channel is so biased with east Asian countries and degrading Southeast Asian ones.

I used to think they're all gold diggers, but after experiencing it myself I think it's more about safety, security and a brighter future. My father was a Chinese businessman who was kidnapped and murdered when I was a baby and we were left with nothing after he was gone. My mother never remarried and worked really hard to raise her children by herself. She only remarried an Australian guy when i was a teenager and he was not rich, he was middle class, so she didn't marry for money, and now as an adult I understand she made the sacrifice for her kids. When you're living in a hopeless place, what is wrong with seeking a better future for yourself and your kids? It's easy to judge people when you're priviledged and don't know hardship.
Also he wasn't a good person, he had anger issues and was mentally abusive to my mom, calling her stupid all the time, but she endured the abuse for her children's future. He did help my mom move my brother and I from the Philippines and I'm grateful that he helped us despite his flaws. I'm very happy to be living in Australia, I think it is one of the best countries to live in, I personally think it's better than USA. My mother also signed a prenup so she never got anything substantial after my stepdad passed away. His grown up kids inherited most of his possessions. And I also built my wealth on my own, I put money into the stock market, I have my own house and my stepdad and mom never gave me any money to give me a leg up growing up.
People need to have more empathy for people who want to escape their hopeless situation. If we stayed in the Philippines I don't know if we would've survived.

Sure, perhaps some of them are, but are we really going to pretend that the men that they marry are innocent saints with no ulterior motives of their own? How is the person looking for a better life for herself and her family a worse person than the one who's taking advantage of her circumstances in the hopes of getting a housemaid or S-slave for free?
Let me add that I'm sure plenty of these people (on both sides) do indeed marry for love, just like in other international marriages from other countries. Somebody mentioned the owner of this channel is a Korean, and imo topics about the PH is from his own narrative, like how poor the PH is whereas topics from other countries are “not as predictable” as this one. I mean, the PH is a poor country, yes, so why ask something that most of the world universally know already? Or at least they could’ve sought other answers by asking diverse group of women or people, not those with predictable answers.
And thanks for mentioning most foreigners actually take advantage of Filipino women, and sometimes even use them just to get their trust fund and whatnot then do something to them after, so isn’t that a win-win?
There is nothing wrong with being poor and marrying for greener pasture, but what is wrong is this channel kind of painting a bad picture that mostly, if not all Filipino, Thai women, or Southeast Asian women marry just for money, while topics in East Asia are totally different from this.

Let’s be real though. The Philippines is a developing country, people want to improve their lives, who wouldn’t when you grow up with so little? The means aren’t there for many of them, the privileges of being born in a developed country aren’t afforded to them. So yes, there will be assumptions made of white people, people coming from developed Asian countries and people who have the finances to travel to the Philippines. Filipina women may see these men as an opportunity to get more out of life, and we live in a world where sex sells, and if a man is willing to offer her what she wants and a shot at improving hers and her family’s situation, it’s easy to understand why she would take the opportunity. I’m not saying it’s morally right, but it does feel like punching down when these women are villainized simply for wanting a better life from what little opportunities they may be presented with.

Philippines is a classist society. The rich/middle class Filipinos tend not to date below a certain line. This line is delineated by income, family, and education. People stay in their social circles. College graduates usually date and marry other college graduates. Professionals date and marry professionals. Poor Filipinos have only a few options to move up. Education, business, sports, entertainment, go abroad, or marry a foreigner, or a combination.
Other than marrying a foreigner, the other options require hard work and/or talent. The Filipinas that actively look for foreign men are usually of this class. These are the ones you usually see that are young with the old retirees. Now, I'm saying this generally.
Rich/middle class Filipinas are open to foreigners but not actively looking for them. There has to be a natural real connection there, real attraction. They are not desperate to escape poverty. Their families are fairly well off. My foreign uncles are the same age their wives and they never get asked for money.
Rich/middle class Filipinas, from what I've been told, actually avoid foreign men. The young guys tend to be f boys just looking for a good time, not serious. They don't want the retirees because other people will look at them as lower class.
This is not to bash the Filipinas that go for foreigners as from the lower class. Its is a natural prerogative for each of us to provide for ourselves and our families the best we can. I myself am married to a non-Filipina. It was out of real attraction, emotional connection, compatibility, and commitment. Many in my family who marry non-Filipinos are the same, we are fortunate that finances are not a main consideration for choosing a partner for life.

However, since education is a privilege, not all are well-informed/educated when it comes to history or politics. Politicians bribe Filipinos from the lower class to win. They are greedy. It's not easy to escape from centuries of mismanagement. Taiwan and Korea were under Japanese administration for two generations and received influences from Japanese education, law, accounting, policy, infrastructure, culture, and government apparatus. There was even one Imperial University each created in both Taiwan and Korea, which offered the same higher-education as the 7 Imperial Universities in Japan mainland. They eventually used that knowledge-base to develop economically.
The Philippines got Spain and the US instead who weren't that interested in Filipino economic and human development, much like the colonies in Central and South America. Filipinos are hard-working and smart people, so if they can align their policy properties, they can easily be like Taiwan or South Korea.

So this was told to me by my friend, a lady from Philippines. Firstly a lot of middle class parents tell their kids to become nurses because it's very easy to get a job in western countries due to high demand, so, escape your own country. Secondly, once one person is dating and married to a foreigner she will do her utmost to get the girls in the family to be introduced to foreigner men in her husbands circles so that they can also escape Philippines. Apparently it's harder being a woman in Philippines.
BTW they are great women and generally look after their families a lot. Western men probably prefer them because they are not as woke as women in their country and can look after a family well. Philippinos usually are family orientated and want to have lots of kids.

So much racism and misconceptions in the comments, I doubt many of them even watched the video. A lot of it borne from their own cultural lenses that view women as just wives.
First off, the Philippines is THE most gender equal country in Asia. Higher than developed Asian countries like South Korea or Japan, higher even than first world western countries like the US. We have the highest number of women in senior management positions, top 10 in terms of the highest number of female CEOs, and we've had two female presidents. The simple fact that women here are treated far more equally is the exact reason why they can choose to marry a foreigner with no social repercussions.
Filipinas marry foreigners because they CAN. Whereas in your countries, doing so would be viewed with derision or shame. It's a reflection of your own cultural biases that you laugh at us.
    1. Filipina women genuinely find most foreigners attractive. The same reason that someone might find a Filipina beautiful, is the same reason Filipinas might find foreign men attractive. The same is true for Filipino men and foreign women, as well as for Filipino LGBT people and foreign LGBT people. Our beauty standards tend to go for the different, rather than the similar. We universally find mixed people beautiful, it's why a large number of our celebrities are mixed, far more than most other countries. See 11:16
    2. Financial security. It's funny how people find this weird, when the vast majority of people also marry for this reason. The Philippines is a developing country. If a man can provide a better life, he'll always have an advantage over someone who can't. Practicality. It's PART of the reason, but not THE reason. See 10:14
    3. The trade-off is the cultural differences. As I've already mentioned, Filipina women are used to being equal. We are family-oriented which a lot of foreigners mistake as being submissive. We're not. And a huge fear into entering mixed marriages is that they might end up being mistreated. See 7:17 and 8:05
There are exceptions of course. And they're obvious. Mostly when the age and attractiveness gap is wide. But that happens in any country.

Context is always important especially for this video because it's not black and white--me and my bf are around the same age and i definitely did not start dating him for the money. we just happened to connect really well, share the same values and morals, etc.
for the ate that said she wouldnt date a foreigner bc she heard stories from her friends about how they hurt them, i understand but that is why you should take this video with a grain of salt--thats her opinion, it's not a fact.
tito and tita in the end made some valid points, i respect that. they looked more on the optimistic side and the overall picture of the topic.

First, why do Asian Boss always feature kind of belittling topics about the Philippines, like about this or “how much do Filipinos make,” “why do Filipinos have so many babies,” and interview mostly low-income class employees but you do more interesting topics about other countries? Are you lacking researchers in the Philippines? Lol
And regarding this topic, this is the problem when you only interview a certain demographic. Of course, low incomers would state just one point, “for money.”
“Gold-digging” or marrying foreigners for money applies mostly to low to middle income class Filipino, but if you will ask upper middle class to elites, it’s more of they meet foreigners on a daily basis from their networks from international schools or actually attending unis overseas particularly US, Europe, Australia, etc.
Also, it’s hard to find ambitious Filipino men on a daily basis, like those who are striving to earn more to be able to provide a better lifestyle for themselves and their families. A lot of Filipino men get too complacent with their job and are okay with “just okay” jobs as long as they can provide the basic needs, and I guess Filipino women nowadays have become more and more independent and it’s difficult to find someone who would match their being goal-oriented, don’t want to settle for less and whatnot. Whereas poor to middle-income classes in foreign countries could be upper-middle to upper class already if they are in the Philippines due to income gaps between Filipinos and richer countries.

Because to those old white guys it doesn’t matter how they look as long as she’s skinny and a young virgin they’ll still swoop them from their feet, it’s like how everyone romanticizes Korean people and thinks they’re all hot ignoring their flaws.

I married a Filipina. We have a beautiful baby boy. He looks like me with my wife's beautiful eyes. My wife's family and friends adore our son. He's like a little rock star. My wife has a disability, she got surgery that has helped her a lot. Seeing her disability nearly cured has been a miracle for us. We have a big age gap. We have had huge problems with visas from governments. Visa problems, disability, culture gap, education gap, age gap, it's been very expensive, a lot of hardship but our son is a gift from God, and we are a family. We will always stick together, and raise our child. The glue that has kept us together through all the difficulties has been love. It was a very difficult decision to marry a woman with a disability. I asked God what should I do. I followed God's advise. It was a good decision. My greatest joy in life is pushing a pram with my wife by my side. I also love going to mass with my little family. Our son was baptised and has 13 godmothers!

Filipino women make up the largest ethnic minority in Faroe Islands, a terrirtory of Denmark and this mixing of two cultures show how Filipinos are open to learning other cultures. Though I must admit, some Filipinos did marry for money only to find out that their life in another country would be as miserable as they had in Philippines. But most are successful ones and it's been happening for many years now that's why there are so many mixed Filipino celebrities.

No, that's not what it shows, it shows that they are desperate to escape poverty. What's really disingenuous is disguising the desire to escape poverty as wokeness. They're not doing it cuz they're woke, they do it because they want a richer husband and live in a richer country, if anything that's the opposite of woke.
