Been a TM guy for a while until quality control issues. Went to the Forged Tec and they seem like a better quality made club. Love them and not going back to TM.
Excellent review as always. These are the two clubs I’m going to try and get fitted for when the P790’s are more freely available to demo. My more frequent miss is a lower thin. Yes occasionally a toe and also a heel now and then but more often than not a thin. You indicated that it’s marginal between the two on these low misses plus I’ve the issue like you, prefer the looks of shiny Cobra but prefer sound and feel of 790. But will go with what gives me the better numbers in a shaft that is still to be determined. Thanks again for these superb reviews 👍
how do you think the mizuno 245 compares to the cobra forged tec? I'm in the market and trying to decide between the two. Currently an 18 handicap but looking to get better and grow into my clubs.
fell in love with the forged tec in testing ending up with dynapower forged. it was a price decision. after playing the dynapower, they are really nice quality iron. the forged tec really suited my eye from address way better, but my local shop price difference was $400. so...
Hi L A. Closure rate is a measure of the rotational forces at play during the impact time. So GCQuad measures it's data from the moment of impact minus 1 frame so no influence (ball wise not ground) is had on the shot. Now depending on many things, ground interaction and more importantly strike location, the resulting ball flight can be marginally different to that which Quad suggests through club dynamics due to rotational factors. I'm going to host an open live stream today 19:30 UK Time. It's an interesting discussion point so if you are free (I'll be on for a few hours) 👍🏻 👍🏻
Great review Jay! I was fitted earlier this year and it came down to these two clubs. There was just something about the feel of the forged tec over the P790s. I've been a TM guy my whole life and went with the forged tec. Still very happy with my choice.
I really enjoy the tone and impartiality of your reviews. You have already said you are reviewing Takomo soon, i hope this will include the Combo option as these look very interesting. I suspect Takomo may well supply the test irons, they should do as your review will be useful for their research as well as marketing. Takomo already include TH-cam review’s on their website, however these are anecdotal rather than scientific, this being so, your review would be of more interest and benefit to potential buyers. I plan to purchase the combo set, just need a fitting session for shaft, loft and lie etc. might include a test of the P790, just to see if risking Takomo is worth a go. I’ve looked at your website, plan to make the trip up to Suffolk for a fitting.
Hi Graham, thanks for the kind feedback. I think I have the 101T irons due but they are taking some time to arrive. After the review, I plan to ask for the rest of the gear to test, although I don't believe that Takomo have the capabilities to send only 7 iron test clubs out so would have to send an entire set..... Obviously this is really cost ineffective and something I would like to change however I'm not in direct control of their business model so will wait patiently for them to supply. 👍

In that case I'd wait to see what the improved Mizuno Pro 245 brings 😊
@@AskGolfNut Price might have something to do with the decision and isn’t the new 245 only due out next year?
Coming January and yes if price is a definite sticking point I believe the P790s are cheaper 👍🏻
How would the Forged Tec X perform with the same loft as the normal forged Tec?

Love your reviews. Can you comment on what closure rate is and what's its effect is? thanks

As you should because they are a really really nice set of irons that will work for a good portion of the golfing public for years to come 👍🏻

Forged tec has been a thrill to play this summer. Well done cobra!
Cobra have played an absolute blinder this last release with the whole range of irons.... 👍
Trill???
@paulstephenson5815 Typo or its the Irish equivalent of a thrill 😊
@@paulstephenson5815 it’s not my first language. I’m sorry. Edited
@oyvn no apology needed 👍🏻 thank you for your comment and input into the channel. 👍🏻
Pretty much the same iron these. I prefer the satin p790
