      American comes from Amerigo Vespucci, the Italian explorer.
      Saudi gets its name from it's first founder which was slaughtered and his family by the Turkish secular armies.

      Assem yes but saud is the ruling dynasty of arabia.it literally means, arabia of the sauds. And so the way i see it arab allegience is to a family rather than a land.

    • @abo3zzzam
      @abo3zzzam 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, that's the way it was since the fourth (and last) Caliphate, which Existed in Arabia from the year 656 to 661ad .. After which the land of Arabia was ruled through dynasties such as (and in correct order): Umayyads dynasty, Abbasid dynasty, Fatimid, Ayubid and so fort..
      The way which those dynasties attain legitimacy is through having a rightful religious cause and maintain it though establishing fair rule in accordance to Islamic teachings. This applies to Alsauds dynasty, as you prefer to call it.

      Guess there is nothing wrong with that. seems like at the end of the day their imperium derives from god which is ultimately provided by the masses. I would mention abuse of power and corruption but its not like the democratic systems are much different either.

    Thank you for a very informative and well narrated video. I had no idea that the Saudi Kingdom was so young. I lived in Riyadh in 1970 for one year when I was only 10 years old, with my parents and family. It was quite a cultural shock for a family from Northern California. I learned so much in just one year about Arab/Muslim religion and culture. I had to defend myself as a 10 year old boy from wild packs of dogs that roamed the suburbs of Riyadh from time to time.. I had rock fights with the Bedouin kids who lived in tents with their families on the out skirts of town. Most of them with goat herders and were often seen herding their goats down the streets. Luckily nobody got seriously injured in our rock fights. Our home was in between a Saudi Arabia family, who we got along with very well and swam in their pool and often went in their home to socialize with their family. On the other side of us, was an American/French family with an American father and a French mother. Their two children were almost the exact same ages as my older brother and I, and were our best friends. We went to the same school with them, which was a large home converted into a make shift school. Boys and girls in Saudi Arabia do not go to school together as it's not allowed.
    I could go on and on about the things that happened in just one year, but I wanted to give people an idea what life was like.

      Kraig Gaddis let me tell you, if you visit Saudi Arabia nowadays you will hardly recognize it as the country you lived in when you were a kid. A lot of radical changes happened from the 80s until now. Sahwa movement hindered us to move forward, to be more connected to the world around us, and now after 40 years Mohammed Bin Salman is changing the equation, as he said in many interviews.. the Sahwa was a mistake and we will fix it . I’m paraphrasing btw, hope you come again.

      Obviously you’re not Arabic
      Otherwise you’d know that what was meant by “Najd” in the Hadith was IRAQ, because the region of Najd was called alyamamah previously, it has only been changed to Najd in the last 200 years
      And obviously you are one of the supporters of the power hungry Ottoman Turks whom We KICKED OUT OF OUR LAND by the force of sword when we only had swords and they had “modern armies”

      The same Turks that were ruthless and never ruled by the real Islam, instead they created their own CORRUPT VERSION of Islam just to satisfy their power urge.
      In Saudi WE ARE THE DIRECT descendants of the prophet and his friends, we are people that know our ancestry unlike the “so called” Arabs of the north who are not even really Arab and can’t prove their ancestry.

      “Arabs of the north” are Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, etc....
      The same Arabs the envy us and hate us because of our Oil, the same Arabs that think our oil is theirs just because they had established their countries before u, the same Arabs that even though have long-existed Civil countries, however, they find themselves in poor conditions and under developed while We the “Beduins” sit on the the G20 and rule most parts of the world with our money.

    so if the Ottomans caught both families then all of the Muslim worlds would be a more peaceful place?

    • @TheApaura
      @TheApaura 6 ปีที่แล้ว +100

      Von Bismarck There could have definitely have been some event that would cause the Muslim world to fall into chaos. However, without the Saudi family the events of the 20th and 21st century could have been slightly more peaceful. Remember though, Capitalists love their fucking wealth, so it's more likely that the Middle East would still be plunged into chaos because of resource wars and imperialism.

    a word of advice from an actual descendant of alrashid family, the word "ebin" literally means "son of". this is the Arabian way of introducing one's self, you state your name followed by your father's name and then his father (your grandpa) afterwards. unless it's a diplomatic council or simply a duel, your name followed by two more would be enough.

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sort of the same name as my own surname. Many Irish and Scottish surnames are either Mc or Mac both are Gaelic for "son of"

    • @InfernosReaper
      @InfernosReaper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrismc410 and then there's the Norse who just stick "son" to end of their father's name.
      Then it all just becomes a family name, though.
