    Indo-Aryan theory
    th-cam.com/video/MctZeIxvac4/w-d-xo.html
Aryan migration/invasion has by far been the most commented part of this video, if you would like to further discuss that portion of this video, here is a more detailed response video I made...:)
I left our the Maratha Empire (or the Maratha Confederacy) They were the major dominant empire during a large period of British East India Company expansion....They ended in 1818-while the Moghal Empire limped along (much smaller than on map in mid 1800's) Here is link to wiki on Maratha Empire (I should have mentioned them in this video)...but got overlooked on my notes were I was trying to fit everything 5,000 years into 12 mins.

Epimetheus Solid work. You had to skip certain things in order to be concise. That is reasonable because it's an introduction into India. Whatever you have covered is very well balanced and you have meticulously selected the most acceptable versions of different incidents. Quality research is evident and I thank you for it. And yes the Mayans, Incas and Aztecs would be a good video. Subscribed !!!

@@sharann3482 Well yeah, that's exactly why Chola and Tamil Nadu is never part of "India", whatever that means. Even the most influential Empires of india like Maurya, Delhi Sultanate and Mughal never, ever established full control in Tamil Nadu for even once in the 3000 year of India history. If we take the examples from Europe and Middle East, Tamil Nadu should be an independent country. For the same reason, nobody really expect to see Chola in a 12min video of "India" history.

Nanyi Dong the Cholas are Part of the South Indian Dravidian Kingdoms wich makes them Indian and it’s not like they had no contact with the North empires. That’s why that guy said this video should have been named „the story of North India“ because if it was all of India it should have included the South Kingdoms too.

Chola exist parallel to the India Empires in the history, and acted as their enemies. They were only absorbed by the British after 1800s. Now it's one province of nowadays India, but still it feels awkward to bring it up during an introductory video about India history as a whole.

So there is no caste issue here, caste issue for them came after the british, when their children forget their parents past, they considered something unjust been done to them.
I truly agree it is bad to punish generations of children by permanently banning the offenders generations of family for a mistake done by one at a point of time.

      * Shashi Tharoor claims: The British Empire was more about Britain than India
TRUTH: This statement is not entirely true. The British Empire was a global empire that had many territories and colonies, including India. While the Empire was certainly beneficial for Britain, it also had a significant impact on the territories and peoples it controlled, including India.
      * Shashi Tharoor claims: Great symbols of Empire in India, such as the country's rail system, were built for the benefit of the British rather than Indian citizens
TRUTH This statement is partially true. While the rail system in India was certainly beneficial for the British in terms of transportation and commerce, it also had a positive impact on the Indian economy and society by facilitating trade and improving communication between different parts of the country.
      * Shashi Tharoor claims: Colonialism in India was more akin to theft, often leading to death and destruction
TRUTH This statement is true to some extent. Colonialism in India, as in many other colonies, often involved the exploitation of resources, forced labor, and cultural suppression, leading to significant harm to the people and society.
      * Shashi Tharoor claims: The UK should be open to discussing allowing more Indian immigrants in, both students and workers, in trade talks with India
TRUTH This statement is subjective and depends on the context of the trade talks and the current immigration policies of the UK.
      * Shashi Tharoor claims: Indians may have forgiven the actions of the British Empire, but they should not forget it
TRUTH This statement is true. The actions of the British Empire had a lasting impact on India, and it is important to remember and learn from the past in order to understand the present and shape the future.
      * Shashi Tharoor claims: Brexit has implications for Indian companies established in Britain
TRUTH This statement is true. Brexit, the UK's withdrawal from the European Union, may affect Indian companies that have established operations in the UK.
      * Shashi Tharoor claims: Indian students and temporary work permits are a concern for India in trade talks with UK
TRUTH This statement is subjective, it depends on the context of the trade talks and the current policies of India and UK regarding students and work permits.

I feel that the majority of the comments are not praise, but rather criticism of minute details. I'm sure that opinions will exist, but for the people complaining, there's only so much you can ask from one single guy that animates, illustrates, and narrates an entire channel. There is absolutely no way Epimetheus can include all of a subcontinent's history into 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
Secondly, there are numerous, well-sourced documentaries out there funded by museums, libraries, etc. that actually DO have the massive resources to make sure that accurate details about mostly everything will be present. Heck, there should be tons of documentaries about every part of India! All I'm trying to say is, try placing yourself into Epimetheus's shoes and appreciate (or at least NOTICE) the effort he took to bring you a fact-filled and drawn video about a diverse land.
If you have anything to complain, at least make it into a clean factual statement (opinions add bias). I know this comment will be lost in the sea of complaints and nobody will probably finish reading it, but for the ones that do, keep what I said in mine.

Indeed, but be careful not to give the false impression that South East Asia, as a whole, was militarily conquered or colonized by India for most of its history -- the vast majority of Buddhist and Hindu influence we see in South East Asia was spread there peacefully through mutual trade and cross cultural exchange with India, not through war or conquest. To suggest otherwise would be the equivalent of claiming that Japan was conquered by Europeans because the Japanese have cars, skyscrapers, computers, t-shirts, jeans, and other Western influences.

Likewise, ancient Japanese people once used Chinese characters to write the Japanese language, but that doesn't mean the Japanese people were Chinese.
The Chola invasion is the only example I'm aware of where Indians actually went to Southeast Asia by force on a large scale. However, the vast majority of Indian influence came peacefully through trade and cultural exchange.
By the way, the invasion was not one sided. Just as the Chola Empire of India invaded Southeast Asia, the Tambralinga Kingdom of Southeast Asia invaded India. However, such invasions are rare, and both regions seem to have had peaceful relations for the most part.
And just as Indians have influenced Southeast Asians with Buddhism/Hinduism and their writing systems, Southeast Asians have influenced Indians with their ships and seafaring technologies. In fact, Southeast Asians/Austronesians were the first humans to sail the oceans, the first people to set up a large trading network in the Indian ocean, and were responsible for introducing their ships and seafaring technologies to ancient India since 1000 BC to 600 BC, enabling Indians to engage in more efficient and large scale Maritime Trade and spread Buddhism/Hinduism to Southeast Asia.

The Chera dynasty were one of the principal dynasties in the early history of the present day states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in South India. Along with the Ay kingdom in the south and the Ezhimala kingdom in the north, they formed the ruling kingdoms of Kerala in the early years of the Common Era (CE or AD). Together with the Cholas and the Pandyas, they were known as one of the three major political powers of ancient Tamilakam in Tamil Nadu in the early centuries of the Christian Era.
The age and antiquity of the Cheras is difficult to establish.[3] The Early Cheras are known to have established capitals at various locations around Karur, Muziris and Tyndis among others. The 'Irumporai' Cheras and the 'Kongu' Cheras are also known to have controlled Karur in central Tamil Nadu at various points in time. The Cheras of Makotai (modern Kodungallur, Kerala) were also known as the Kulasekharas or the Perumals, and were in power between c. 8th and 12th century in Kerala. The exact nature of the relationships between the various lines of Chera rulers is somewhat unclear.
Most of the ancient Chera history is reconstructed from a body of bardic collection known as the Sangam (the Academy) literature. Other sources for the early Cheras include inscriptions, the royal edicts of Ashoka, coins, and accounts by Graeco-Roman writers. The Sangam poems record the names of a long line of Chera rulers, and the poets who extolled them. The internal chronology of this collection is still far from completely settled and a connected account of the history of the period is an area of active research.

My point is Maratha empire was significant enough that if you missed it, it'll some what alter the history. Maratha empire single handedly reduced influence of mughals and hence stopping conversions. This resulted in modern day demography.
      You changed the topic completely.

The Chola dynasty was one of the longest-ruling dynasties in the history of southern India. The earliest datable references to this Tamil dynasty are in inscriptions from the 3rd century BCE left by Ashoka, of the Maurya Empire (Ashoka Major Rock Edict No.13). As one of the Three Crowned Kings of Tamilakam, the dynasty continued to govern over varying territory until the 13th century CE.
The heartland of the Cholas was the fertile valley of the Kaveri River, but they ruled a significantly larger area at the height of their power from the later half of the 9th century till the beginning of the 13th century. The whole country south of the Tungabhadra was united and held as one state for a period of two centuries and more.[4] Under Rajaraja Chola I and his successors Rajendra Chola I, Rajadhiraja Chola, Virarajendra Chola and Kulothunga Chola I the dynasty became a military, economic and cultural power in South Asia and South-East Asia. The power of the new empire was proclaimed to the eastern world by the expedition to the Ganges which Rajendra Chola I undertook and by the naval raids on cities of the maritime empire of Srivijaya, as well as by the repeated embassies to China. The Chola fleet represented the zenith of ancient Indian sea power.
During the period 1010-1153, the Chola territories stretched from the islands of the Maldives in the south to as far north as the banks of the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh. Rajaraja Chola conquered peninsular South India, annexed parts of which is now Sri Lanka and occupied the islands of the Maldives. Rajendra Chola sent a victorious expedition to North India that touched the river Ganges and defeated the Pala ruler of Pataliputra, Mahipala. He also successfully invaded cities of Srivijaya of Malaysia and Indonesia The Chola dynasty went into decline at the beginning of the 13th century with the rise of the Pandyan Dynasty, which ultimately caused their downfall.

Further around 30 km radius we still find similar hindu -buddhist artifacts , idols, engravings and bust reliefs. The government has restored the archaeological area, set up a museum open for public. TheTrueDreams thetruedreams he wasn’t defeated by the British he died in 1839AD the British annexed Punjab in 1849AD 10 years after his death!!!!!! That was due to taking advantage of civil war in Punjab after Ranjit Singh’s demise and the British making secret deals with Traitors in the Sikh Government to ensure the Sikh army wasn’t successful in invading British India in the Anglo Sikh wars.
Governor General Hardinge even wrote an unconditional letter of surrender that just needed to be Signed as the Sikhs dealt a heavy blow to the British in the battle of Ferozeshah first Anglo Sikh war. However Traitors in the Sikh leadership came to the British’s aid and hence we ultimately lost our kingdom.
As for Ranjit Singh ruling a small area that is not true either. He ruled West Punjab (now in Pakistan), Most of East Punjab including Kangra and Modern day Hinachal Pardesh (India) all of Jammu and Kashmir including Ladakh, Peshawar and North west Frontier province.
Basically most of modern day Pakistan and Punjab India with the exception of the Cis Sutlej states.
It may not be as big as the Mughal empire or Mauryan Empire but was still a decent size and very powerful.

Did you forget the Chola Empire , ruled most of India including Mumbai and ruled even Bengal by subjugating the Pala Empire , the Burmese automatically became their vassals along with Tibet , they defeated one of the greatest thallassotic empire ( the Srivijaya Empire) through their navy and conquered Southeast Asia , they even conquered whole of Sri Lanka , their sailors had even gone to Australia where a Tamil bell had been found with inscription of saying it was the ship bell of Muhaideen . They conquered Andaman and Nicobar Islands and naned it as Tinmai Theevu .
Muhammad of Ghazni himself wrote that he was feared of an Indian king at that time whom was more powerful and attacked the adjoining kingdoms when Muhammad Ghazni attacked North India and he said that his name was shortly Param Dev which is itself the misinterpretation of Parakesari Dev ... It was fully that Parakesari Vanmarana Udayar Shree Kopi Rajendra Chola Devar according to inscriptions and Meikeerti of the ruler .
They were skilled in arts and sculptures too and still more than 1000 years old Rajarajeshwaram Temple stands proud with the height of its Vimana , the largest in the world ....
The Chola active military of 1.5 million cannot be itself compared to the more than 1000 years later of todays India only 1.2 million active personals .

Dear... Indian history is really manipulated... It is been said that Harappa and Mohenjo-daro had direct trade relation with present kerala . That point out there was other civilizations were going parallel to indus Valley civilization.....Nobody is interested in knowing who ruled before pandyan dynasty(do you know that they are constantly ruled more than100 centuries..Man more than. One Thousand years!!!)which buried older civilisation... And do you ever heard about a war lasted more than 100 years...Yes dear.....between chola and chera kingdom......So called sons of kerala.(keralaputra).....In between there are lot of small small dynasty...Like Ay etc etc. What is really shocking is that most of the places present at the time of chola, chera and pandya era..Still there with the very same name..Even in 2018..For example...Kollam...Etc etc..
Ever heard about Kumari Kandam!?! What about there advanced civilization and technologies ( like Atlantis...Oh!it is just a myth right)...lol
Talking about myth...At which era bridge between Sri Lanka and India is constructed?
(Now don't say there is no bridge..It is even visible from google earth..)both in Bible and Ramayana they mentioned about this bridge too.

It also has embedded within it the holy book of the Hindus - the Bhagavad-Gita . It's funny how you left out a few important points, the aryan invasion indeed did happen. You said that the were all wiped out, this is simply untrue, since many people do still have IVC-like ancestry, even the baloch, the Sindhi have it the most. Also you skipped out on all the other kingdoms that were created by the Vedic Aryans such Gandhara Kingdom in modern day North West Pakistan overlapping into modern day Afghanistan, the max you mentioned is indo-scythian empire. You also skipped on the fact that there was the Gangariddai civilization living around Ganges, also you didn't clear the fact that when the Vedic Aryans created their kingdoms along the Ganges, the kings, governors and clergy were mainly of Aryan settler descent, the rest of the society were of course the existing aboriginal Ganges inhabitants, and this contributed to the creation of the caste system, that's also why many Indians in that region today lack the Aryan component, simply because they're aboriginals and not settlers, just like how you don't find a mongol component in Pakistanis, also the Saraswati civilization and Indus Valley Civilization were two separate civilizations. And let's not forget Taxila university, one of the greatest and most renown universities of ancient times, again, it was located in the northern parts of Indus Valley region. And about the Greek Macedonian invasions, it was Porus, an inhabitant of the Indus region, who defeated and pushed back the Greek Macedonian invaders. By including these details you would've made your video longer by another 2 and half minutes or to 20 mins, which isn't much. But I guess some of your viewers from India or Pakistan would be upset for mentioning these important details in history, and I guess it would make the Europeans upset too.

It's fully wrong to say that Aryans invaded Bharath. Historians have proved that Aryans are Indians itself. That's why we see the word Aryaputhra (King) in our Ramayana and Vedas.
You said that Indians leared about wheels and trade In Persia. This also is wrong. the Indus Vally civilisation is the oldest also there were other civilisation in Dwaraka and south India.

Too much speculation at the begging, you completely ignored the South and important empires like the Maratha while going into too much detail on the other points. I know it's difficult to cover Indian history in such a short video but you ignored too much of the important stuff. At least show it on a map or mention it... the way it's presented it looks as if they didn't exist at all.
If you need help the History of India Wikipedia page's contents is a good outline of the history: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_India
If you want a good map with dates Ollie Bye made a great video: th-cam.com/video/QN41DJLQmPk/w-d-xo.html
I like your stuff and appreciate the effort, but I really think you should redo this video after you've researched it properly! I also wouldn't mind seeing another video that goes into super detail including the prehistoric era, the South, the Northeast, the Andaman islands, all the other cultures and smaller kingdoms, other people like the Buddha, religions like Sikhism and Jainism, modern Indian and how it got it's independence etc. One thing is certain though: this short outline of the History of Indian needs to be remade! Don't go into the details of one kingdom in a particular period if you aren't going to cover the rest of the content in the same detail. Pick the level of detail you want to go in and stick to it (unless it's unavailable). Maps - don't be lazy and show the whole thing.

Moreover there were other small migrations like Huns and Sythians. India is basically like

True aryan invasion or migration is not yet proven it's all conjecture no1 was there to see what happened it's all speculative infact in journals like science it's already published indians have similar genes + there is nothing called pure race no1 is 100% pure every1 mixed hence this theory is not even relevant. Genetics doesnt even confirms r1 is white gene as it's patrineal which means only in man hence white features must only be present in man but no white woman do exist so logically r1 or any haplogroup in india is not white or european secondly genetics doesnt even state speaking a language or following certain practice changes dna which is one more logical fallacy hence even the existence of aryan race questionable in itself it's all speculation or say opinions not any reliable piece of information

Interesting Video !!! .. there is no doubt that Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOMS warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKHS warriors...
Rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, he sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.”
meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.)
If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. What addition of 1 billion more adherents to Islam would have done to the world power balance or what would have happened to Indian legacy like yoga, ayurveda, music, art and philosophy, is not difficult to guess….
It is worthwhile examining the 'what if' of Indias history, Aurengzeb, Akbars great great grandson, had embarked on the 'Islamisation' of India. The Marathas, inspired by Shivaji, fought Aurengzeb and saved India from following the fate of Persia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurengzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra , but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra...
Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a strong and solid foundation that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and consolidated their lost territories. This was further expanded by the Peshwas. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today. Its eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. Maratha armies had also reached upto Murshidabad, but then retreated and settled for tribute from Bengal and control of Orissa. To the south, in 1758, territories upto the fort of Gurramkonda in Kadappah district were held. Also, Tanjore (Thanjavur) was under Marathas, but that was a different line. (By the way Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is also considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.)
Jai HIND !!! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !!
