.. I can tell you this. I have the Alienware OLED (CPU-Z listed below) and it looks fantastic *BUT* for competitive FPS gaming I literally had to restrain myself from not punching the hole through it. It's too damn dark, and it lacks FPS gaming controls. FPS gaming isn't about color accuracy, nor is it about infinite contrast. It's about seeing the douchebag laying in a dark corner behind a dead person.
Therefore, I would be extremely leary about OLED for this use. However, if all you play are immersive games then sure you'll love an OLED.
Also, I thought the 21:9 ratio would be useful but it really isn't. I would recommend a 32-in 2560 x1440 or a 32-in 4K monitor. The problem even the newer RTX 40 series they will only have DisplayPort 1.4 and not 2.0. I don't know what they're thinking considering an RTX 30 series can easily saturate DisplayPort 1.4 as it is. Therefore, you're going to be stuck with HDMI. 2.1 and I have no desire for DSC (digital stream compression). My Alienware maxes out DisplayPort 1.4 (3440x1440, 175Hz, 8-bit) 10-bit would exceed its bandwidth. Also with FPS gaming at least in IMO I would avoid HDR like the plague.

I switched to the Acer Nitro XV252Q monitor a few months ago. It is set to 390hz OD extreme. I play mainly comp fps games (OW & Valorant) but use aim trainers even more (Aimlab & Kovaaks). While the difference between 390hz and 240hz is not as noticeable as 240hz to 144hz and definitely not 144hz to 60hz, it is definitely noticeable, specifically in aim trainers. Doing fast tracking tasks or reaction time based tasks definitely benefit from the less noticable ghosting. There are some niche scenarios where you can notice it in game (holding an angle against a wide swing, tracking a tracer), I think if you only play the games and don't aim train, it isn't worth the cost difference but of you're also a masochist with more hours on Voltaic tasks than in any games, I'd pick one up. You will get better at any tasks by doing it more rather than just buying new gear, but if you are already in that top

That being said those things aren't that important to me on an FPS monitor compared to motion clarity and response times. I play FPS on the Nitro but use a Samsung G7 for media and any games that aren't as reliant on FPS. If you're only going to have a single monitor setup I would probably go IPS or VA but the TN panels I have used in the past never bothered me.

I still use an Asus PG279Q from 2015 and it’s insane how that monitor still holds up to this day.
1440p, 165hz, IPS, G-Sync, even to this day there isn’t really any monitor that’s a straight up upgrade in every department as far as I know.
You can either go upgrade to 4K, which I don’t care about or upgrade to 240hz or more, but I can’t justify getting a new monitor just for that as 165hz is already really smooth. Also you can’t simply run every game at 240+ fps.
    I guess I’ll upgrade once there’s something like a 4K 240hz OLED monitor for a reasonable price, but I don’t think that’s anytime soon.

What all these Tech channels fail to mention is that dyac makes micro stutter a lot more noticeable so for the best results you want to cap your frame rate to the average minimum to avoid it and get the smoothest image possible. That’s why I sold my xl2546. I couldn’t stand the micro stutters and I found that I had the best experience with dyac with my fps capped to 180 in apex. I would recommend the pg259qnr over this since it has native gsync, better viewing angles and colors and it’s on sale for only 300 my current time of posting.

It’s great for general use, but for high fps, a noticeable step above my old 240hz Samsung screen and colour representation has been more than good enough for my uses. I’ve personally found monitor advancements have been more impressive than GPU advancements for my gaming experience as many cpu/gpus are capable of pushing these 360fps+ for many e-sports titles currently on the market. I think the issue with 240hz+ isn't whether or not there's a difference so much as whether or not the person using them can actually tell the difference. Based on some of the tests LTT have done with a spectrum of gamers(including pros), even pros may not consistently notice the difference. If you happen to be in that range that DOES, then sure, this would be a pretty awesome option. Unfortunately, most won't notice it, and even if you did, you're making the choice of trading off resolution and contrast for a TN panel.
It's not to say it's the wrong choice, but one where you'd better be aware of where your capabilities/requirements are and not just get caught up on the potential of what it can do(pretty much that pro hardware doesn't close the gap to allowing a casual to match a pro's performance).
Cool tech, interesting options, and stuff where coverage definitely helps those who can take advantage of it. But don't mistake potential performance for usable performance. Unfortunately, that's something watchers can't decide without going out and test driving these options for themselves.
