no, that IS the perfect clarity of CRT's... it has already been achieved, now we're just discussing the time it takes for this tech to be standard for ALL LCD's. :P CRT's have these phosphor glow lines, and they are significantly longer than the white ghosting produced by such a high refresh-rate monitor. In short, LCD's have finally gotten AHEAD of CRT's... because LCD's have also managed a 0 ms response time too (on another LCD monitor i don't remember the name of), 0.5 ms, but less than 1 = 0, just like CRT's. xD So if we can just combine those two aspects, we've finally advanced this tech far enough to no longer NEED CRT's for any reason, whatsoever... OLEDs can have really low response times but at the end of the day it is still using sample and hold techniques used by all flat panel displays. The only way to get rid of it is to do backlight strobing on LCD and black frame insertion on OLED but those techniques have their own drawbacks, namely reduced brightness and flicker.

The software he's using on the video is called DisplayCAL, but you need to buy a special piece of hardware to go with it called a colorimeter. Popular brands of colorimeter are Spyder and Xrite, they're a usb device that inspects the colour of the screen while the software makes calibration changes. Windows has some simple built-in calibration software you can use, but it's not as accurate because it tells you to make changes by looking at the screen with your eyes.

I’m having a really hard time deciding between this and the AW2721D. I upgraded to a 1440p/165hz panel from a 1080p/144hz two years ago and I’m enjoying it a lot, although I would really like a 240hz panel as I mostly play competitive shooters. I really appreciate the sharpness of 1440p at 24” but there just doesn’t seem to be any 24” 240hz panels at 1440p. I’m worried 27” will be too large for the shooters I play (mainly valorant and apex) but I’m also worried about downgrading back to 1080p, as 1440p is so much clearer and crisp. Would I benefit more from this monitor? I’m currently using a TN and haven’t used IPS, are the response times that much better? Is 27” just too large for the type of games I’m playing? Will the 240hz advantage be lost with the IPS and larger size? The zowie is also significantly cheaper. Any feedback would be appreciated
It's all preference. Jumping from 24/25 to 27" takes time to adjust but you'll get used to it. If you only buy a monitor to click heads and tryhard then buy this Zowie.
@@serenity5892 I currently have 2x27" 27GL850-B and upgraded from 1x ASUS VG248QE 24". I use my rig for work and gaming. Personally 24" fits me better for competitive shooters, as all is smaller and you have a better overview. But for Desktop, work stuff or AAA games I never ever want to change back from WQHD to FHD... So in the end I will upgrade from a dual- to triple monitor setup. One 24" for competive shooters and 2x27" for the other stuff. I think I'll upgrade the VG248QE with the XL2546K. So when you are a tryhard I would recommend staying at 24" at FHD.
@@marv.hamburg that's what I was thinking. Thank you for sharing! The other issue I'm encountering with triple monitors is high memory clock/core clock if ALL your monitors aren't exactly the same. Pay attention, your gpu might idle at high temps because of that. The very slight difference between my 2 PG278QRR and my PG278Q makes my VRAM run full speed all the time (even on desktop) on Nvidia GPUs and core at full speed on AMD GPUs. (6900XT/3080Ti) I'm also loosing focus in most of my activities because of the ridiculously large screen area, unlike single 24" for competitive shooters.
Recently I've been watching your videos, this one particularly was really helpful. Finally I made my decision on my monitor choice after days of debating, I choose this one, the 2546K and can not wait to try it out! Thanks.
@@vityavertu526 I have no regrets whatsoever. Worth the price. For any other things other than gaming it lacks. Colors are off and resolution is only fhd which is kind of low at least for me for work compared to my 4k dell monitor.
@@vityavertu526 yes sir. So basically if you would only use it for gaming, I would definitely recommend. If you would use it for gaming & work or video/photo editing then maybe look for an alienware or Samsung with ips screen, those also have high refresh rate(maybe even higher) and have better colors and resolution.
i would like to see a comparison in motion clarity of this display vs an lg oled. despite being only 120hz i was under the impression they are the motion clarity kings due to the benefits of oled tech.
this is the monitor for competitive people, people who care about performance, not for softcore gamers that care about pretty visuals and are usually bad at every single game, for those people a 1440 monitor is better
One thing I miss about CRT monitors is zero blurring when reading scrolling text. When I scroll a document on a CRT, I can read the text even while it's moving. On every flat screen monitor I've tried, the text becomes too blurry to read. I wonder if this monitor brings back the zero blur when it comes to reading fast moving text?
Can't say for the XL2546K monitor, but on my Benq xl2720z with backlight strobing on, it does help, but fast moving text still has some issues. Had to do some service menu adjustments to adjust the phasing of the backlight to tune it. But I guess I don't get in this review with the backlight strobing. My monitor has it, I can see the alien pupils on the same test and it's an old display, so I don't get what this specific display is doing different than older backlight strobing. The issue that I end up getting with my LCD panel vs my Viewsonic CRT is ghosting of the pixels in front/rear. I don't get that on a CRT and it still looks/feels buttery smooth compared to an LCD panel.
for me TN panels are the best , im a competitive gamer , actually d3 in valorant , TN PANELS ARE A MUST FOR HIGH ELOS in ANY competitive game , dyac is just amazing how accuarate can show the picture on movement , ELMB too is the same as zowie but with darker brightness , zowie is flawless for competitive gaming! belive me i have a 2456k is just amazing
For anyone interested: Pro's that used the 360hz for an extended period all moved back to the BenQ's because of visual clarity and smearing issue's with the 360hz's that we have right now. Also many tend to use DyAc/ELMB/Backlight Strobing whatever you wanna call it at a high setting opposed to the premium or fastest setting.

My understanding is that ips panels have higher pixel response time so even though your getting 360hz, its not any faster than 240hz on a tn panel (also probably why you can really feel a difference) so your essentially trading the motion clarity for better colour/viewing angles. If they figure out how to do 360hz tn I would imagine it would have a small but noticeable impact on responsiveness.
Whats the response the response time with DyAc on tho? doesnt it increase? i play arena shooters, so i would definitely prefer the lowest response time to DyAc...but if there is no compromise there... thats another story!
I just got a 280 Hz Asus IPS which should be arriving any minute. Think I made the right choice because I don’t think my system can consistently push 280 FPS in my games. I also don’t play FPS games as much, I mostly race in Forza Horizon 4. Can’t wait to be playing on a buttery smooth display!!
Ik this is a old comment but I had 2 of the Asus monitors and took them both back bc I kept getting weird yellowish stuff on the sides of it and recently got the Alienware and it’s way better

Popular brands of colorimeter are Spyder and Xrite, they're a usb device that inspects the colour of the screen while the software makes calibration changes.
Windows has some simple built-in calibration software you can use, but it's not as accurate because it tells you to make changes by looking at the screen with your eyes.
@@BarneyDesmond well yes, nothing that is based on you looking with your eyes will be as good as a machine doing it in this scenario, human eyes are known to be unreliable
Subscribed...3.35 motion blur comparison was awsome.
Still running my BenQ XL2410T, First 120hz monitor ever released, 10 years on and still going strong! They weren't even called ""Zowie" back then.
its def not the first 120hz ever released, i have a samsung 2233rz (120hz) and it was released in 2009
I had to leave my XL2411Z because newer GPUs don't use DVI-D...
You're probably the last reviewer on TH-cam that just reviews stuff, without any awful acting. Thanks for that.
Last? How about hub, battlenonsense, gn, project farm... This is just from the top of my mind
@@riba2233 hi, from your list I'm only familiar with GN, and let's be honest here, he jokes/acts a lot
@@deividasjasinevicius3905 ok, but nothing forced or cringe, so not really acting. and you should really watch hub (hardware unboxed), they have best reviews (monitors, cpu, gpu, aib cards, vrm's)
@@riba2233 oh that's what hub is! Yeah I'm a huge fan!
Hey I'm in the exact same situation, currently using PG278QRs but I'm mainly playing competitive shooters...
Thanks.
How it is so far?
@@vityavertu526 I have no regrets whatsoever. Worth the price. I only use it for gaming, that’s what it made for and it’s the smoothest gaming experience I ever had, I’ve been gaming for the past 20 years, used crt monitors, tn and ips but this one stands out. For any other things other than gaming it lacks. Colors are off and resolution is only fhd which is kind of low at least for me for work compared to my 4k dell monitor.
@@szunya23 thanks for the reply.
@@szunya23 interesting, any specific 24 inch models recommendations ?
Wished they released this one with 1440p. 1080p is for my taste too low in 2021
This is just what I needed... thank you
i would like to see a comparison in motion clarity of this display vs an lg oled. despite being only 120hz i was under the impression they are the motion clarity kings due to the benefits of oled tech.
I currently have the Alienware AW2518H and just purchased the 2546k....I cant wait to compare the two!!
Do update
this is the monitor for competitive people, people who care about performance, not for softcore gamers that care about pretty visuals and are usually bad at every single game, for those people a 1440 monitor is better
to be frank, esports players use normal 240hz/360hz IPS g-sync models
Just ordered one, very excited! I continue to improve my setup but It seems like I'm always playing the same old games 😂
i’m about to buy one myself for csgo and valorant, do you think it’s worth the money for dyac or should i get buy the cheaper one without it?

@@khaens1116 Sorry my bad, I thought this is also a review. I guess we're watching he flexes then.
@@Rasyad95 well it is kinda a review just not that good :D more like an opinion
Exactly! Reviews a monitor with backlight strobing - doesn't compare with other strobing implementations.
@@negation4399 Who would have thought it would be ok, right?
One thing I miss about CRT monitors is zero blurring when reading scrolling text. When I scroll a document on a CRT, I can read the text even while it's moving. On every flat screen monitor I've tried, the text becomes too blurry to read. I wonder if this monitor brings back the zero blur when it comes to reading fast moving text?
But the thing is you can put more and smaller text on an modern display, especially on high resolution, defeating the purpose of having to scroll it.
Have one myself, it's not perfect, but you can definetly read it while scrolling.
I don't get that on a CRT and it still looks/feels buttery smooth compared to an LCD panel.
for me TN panels are the best , im a competitive gamer , actually d3 in valorant , TN PANELS ARE A MUST FOR HIGH ELOS in ANY competitive game , dyac is just amazing how accuarate can show the picture on movement , ELMB too is the same as zowie but with darker brightness , zowie is flawless for competitive gaming! belive me i have a 2456k is just amazing
i also owned a LG 240HZ ips and burned tf out my eyes causing eyestrain due to the motion blur
im 5k elo with fast ips asus, gl grinding boy
As someone who plays high sens and likes to mvoe a lot. i’d argue blurring is the most annoying. Almost went with aw25, but damn going to get this!!
let me know how it is?

screen tearing
you realize its in slow motion right?
@@weatherman7 if in slow motion should be no screen tearing if having at least some feature like ELMB or ULMB right?
You realize humans cant see in slow motion right? Pixels are ment to move fast and if slowed down obviously you are gonna see flaws lol
Nice review dude!
+1
@Optimum Tech IN THIS VIDEO YOU GAVE DIFFERENT RGB COLOR VALUE {R 100/G 98/B 97} OF BENQ 2546K GO TO 2:35 IN THIS VIDEO- th-cam.com/video/uil0jhgdN8M/w-d-xo.html
BUT NOW U SHOW THIS VALUE RGB 100/99/94
My understanding is that ips panels have higher pixel response time so even though your getting 360hz, its not any faster than 240hz on a tn panel (also probably why you can really feel a difference) so your essentially trading the motion clarity for better colour/viewing angles. If they figure out how to do 360hz tn I would imagine it would have a small but noticeable impact on responsiveness.
5:20 What setting is the RGB shown here in the OSD? I can only find RGB Range in Display settings in my OSD.
XL2569K Waiting room i need Dyac+ 360hz IPS
you should pay rtx 3090 for it
Wouldn't thicker bezels be better for competitive gaming, e.g., seperating content from the background giving inherently better focus?
5:50
Not saying it's a bad monitor, but that mostly has to do with sponsoring.
Would you mind sharing your XL2546k settings in Valorant? Thanks in advance.
You should try to find a CRT screen and experience that with FPS as well
A man of knowledge...
i went from an Alienware ips back to a TN panel because i found the tn just smoother to look at and easier on my eyes on long sessions .
alienware is DOGSHIT full of GHOSTING and BLUR atleast in Apex Legends
1080p itself is quite a blur
Definitly lmao
At 24 inches it's fine.
seems like you don't know the difference between blur and pixelated
haha still using 1080p monitor with rtx 3070
Definitely not.
I'm not even in the market for a monitor.. just here to watch your sick gameplay

My brother just got it yesterday and I must say IT'S BANANAS!
XL2546 gang here
Whats the response the response time with DyAc on tho? doesnt it increase? i play arena shooters, so i would definitely prefer the lowest response time to DyAc...but if there is no compromise there... thats another story!

i dont understand why people want a 1440p gaming monitor. It cuts your FPS by like 50+ when you play games at that resolution.
Super helpful video 👍
I thought benq dropped 360hz version of this monitor
Nope!
Just curious how everything turned out, you like the monitor? I'm about to buy one and having a hard time choosing this or Asus 280 Tuff like yours...
Blur busters seal of approval? But TN? No thank you - once you go IPS you can’t go back.
even though he said that it was just as good as IPS once calibrated?

Which is better ASUS's PG259QN or Alienware's AW2521H ( both 360 hz) ?
Ik this is a old comment but I had 2 of the Asus monitors and took them both back bc I kept getting weird yellowish stuff on the sides of it and recently got the Alienware and it’s way better
Its such an overpriced monitor when you think about it compared to the other options
For 99.9% of us normal people, yes. But for elite-level competitive gaming teams fighting over cash prizes worth thousands of dollars, a few hundred spent as an investment on their players is nothing.
@@ed-te1fp while part of that is true there is still 360hz monitors and high refresh rate 1440 monitors which offer better clarity and speeds, I have a benq monitor however considering you can get 1440p high refresh rate monitors for the same cost, I think benq is marking up the monitor.

I agree...this should be priced at $299 imo
Exactly; not only 1080p but also TN at $500?!! That is an unreasonable price.
You are not the intended target audience. The competitive players who consider this couldn't give two hoots about resolutions above 1080p. Hell most of them play below native res.
