Here’s a tip for anyone going to Tokyo or Japan in general.
Always get your IC card either before your trip or as soon as possible. I recommend getting it well before your trip. (Suica, Pasmo, etc.)
I got mine about 6 months before my trip and they sent it as soon as I purchased it. (Google for what card you want sent to you) When my physical card arrived, I got the Suica with some money already on it.
I then added it to my Apple wallet and put money on it every paycheck. You can put up to $200 on it and it was a lifesaver. You can use it to get into and out of train stations, and for the conbinis such as Lawson, 7-11, and FamilyMart. You can also use it at most vending machines. So simple and easy with just using your phone to scan and pay or smartwatch! 😊

@@AdventuresofAwkwardAmy Yep! It was super easy and to get anywhere or pay, I just had to pull my phone out and put it near the IC.
Thanks for the helpful and great content Amy!

i chose to do a longer layover in tokyo so i could actually spend some time in the city, and i'm so glad i did! if it were you, would you choose to explore or just stay in the airport during your layovers?

Hi ma’am. we had an 19hrs layover in Haneda. I thought I could use that to explore tokyo. unfortunately, the ticket agent in the Philippines said that I can not go outside the Haneda airport because I don’t have a visa. that’s why I spent that long hour waiting for my flight to hawaii. I’m really sad like hell.

oh noo, im so sorry to hear that :( i hope you have a great time in hawaii though!

On August 23-24, l be traveling from Delhi to Vancouver via Tokyo. Since I have a 16-hour stopover at Haneda Airport, is it possible for me to visit Haneda Garden from Terminal 3 without a transit visa during that time?

It is on the land side of the airport, so you would have to pass through immigration unfortunately

Hi I’m traveling with my his and and a 10 month old baby do we need IC individually or we can use 1 and load it?

I dont think kids under 5 need to pay for the metro, so you should be fine without one for the baby, but you would need one for each paying person

    I have 12 hr layover at haneda too...10 pm to 10 am...=(
i hope i have the energy to go out and explore or else I will just stay at the airport

Honestly, there’s not a lot going on in the mornings. if you want to see some nightlife and have the energy, maybeee it’ll be ok, but otherwise, i would probably just chill at the airport

Do you have to pick up ur luggage if it’s only a lay over I thought it would be transferred to your next flight?

    • @AdventuresofAwkwardAmy
      @AdventuresofAwkwardAmy  ปีที่แล้ว

usually for connecting flights you don’t need to get your luggage, but the ticket i bought required me to check in for my connecting flight separately which meant i had to leave customs and go back in

@@joconderoma1453’m doing the same thing in May too. It’s a 17- hour layover for me and I’m planning to go to Shinjuku. I’m also wondering about the checked luggage. I’m flying United to Haneda and my connecting flight will be via ANA, although both flights were booked through United.
