The AGV Pista GP is a game changer that takes a new approach to building premium helmets. If you've tuned into MotoGP in 2012, you've seen the Pista GP Helmet on Valentino Rossi. Starting from the inside and working out, the Pista GP starts with a scan of the human head, and uses that anthropometric data to build a helmet that contours the head in an ergonomic way. The outer shell is adorned with a variety of facts and stats about the Über-lid that tell the story of what AGV STANDARDS means. ECE safety standards have been exceeded by 48% of the HIC (Head Injury criteria) and by redesigning the visor mechanism using 71% less space, more space for protective EPS liner can now better protect the head. The Class 1 optically correct visor has been placed optimally for the race position with an additional 15° over the horizontal line of sight for excellent vision. The vent holes have nearly tripled in size, making the airflow increase a staggering 193%. Aside from the impressive list of technical data, the aggressive looks and attention to detail make the Pista GP one of the best looking, meanest, toughest, S.O.T.A thoroughbred race helmets on the starting grid to date.
The PistaGP is a race helmet and is not designed for the street. For track and race use, the venting scheme will work well. The SR1 is better suited for street use and is much less aggressive in it's styling. We do not have a confirmation on pricing yet on the PistaGP, but it will be north of $1000. ~Ali
The PistaGP is still in production. We are guessing they will offer solids and graphics when it hits the market, but we haven't caught wind of anything yet. We will surely do graphical overviews of all available designs of the Pista as soon as they launch. ~Ali
MrBadigard. I wish I had more answers to your questions, but there hasn't been any official release information about this helmet other than what we presented on the technology in this video. We have been advised it will launch in Spring 2013. The sample version had a removable spoiler, but until we see a production version, I can not confirm. ~Ali
The AGV Pista GP is due in Spring 2013. We have not received a confirmation on price yet. ~Ali
Thank you for the positive feedback. We are very excited about the PistaGP, and are also very excited for the Corsa to be released. ~Ali
The AGV PistaGP is going to be a premium offering from AGV when it's finally available. If you are looking for a carbon helmet for less than $1000, I suggest taking a look at what LaZer helmets have to offer. ~Ali
True, it's a huge investment. When compared to something like a Corsa (non-carbon version of this helmet), it seems very expensive. BUT, compared to the Arai Corsair V Race Carbon that's about 3 times as much, it's a bargain, relatively speaking, of course. If you do 90%+ of your time on the track, then it could be worth it. For the everyday street rider, it's not worth the dough. ~Ali
The only feedback I have for you is.. I want one! :)
You guys did it again. The first and only place to see the Pista. Great job!
True, we are about due to see a new offering from Arai. The PistaGP is a very impressive helmet and we love the new direction of the AGV Standards project and the helmets it's produced. ~Ali
I still have mine to this day, that exact one and I still wear it too, absolutely love it
wow video quality looks superb, way to step it up guys
looks amazing, been looking forward to learning more about this helmet ever since rossi started using it, really looking forward to the corsa when it comes out, thanx 4 the vid
This is a total raising of the bar for Motorcycle helmets, about time! I remember when Shoei raised that bar, and have been excited by small improvements like those on the RPS-10 (seriously people, the visor tab should be in the middle, and lock) This is re-writing of the book IMO, thanks for the in depth look Revzilla!
The shield is not designed to be ridden while open, but it does seat into the open position firmly. I imagine once you get going fast enough, the aerodynamics would pull it shut as there is no way to lock it into an open position. -CK
The PistaGP is up on the website now with price information and all. We expect it to be released winter 2013. -CK
We will never reveal our sources. ha! Thank you for the props on the review. We are VERY impressed with this new lid. ~Ali
The version that we shot for video was not DOT certified, but when they arrive for retail later this year, they must be certified to DOT standards in order to be sold in the US. -CK
I suggest giving our Gear Geeks a call. They are here to help you find the right option and discuss technical details. ~Ali
Stay tuned, as soon as they are available, they will be on our site. ~Ali
We've reviewed the Skyline, the Horizon and now the PistaGP. As soon as we get our hands on the Corsa and the Veloce, we will do a thorough video review. ~Ali
Just got exactly the same helmet in the mail! Let me tell you...one of the best fitting helmets! Gripe I had with the GP-Tech was the lack of ear space...this one is perfect!
looks good man, excellent review. Keep up the good work
Looking forward to seeing this helmet your shelves, will be stopping in once you have this model in stock.....
I currently own the one on the left (AGV GP-TECH) and I would have to say it is an amazing helmet! It is light, it is comfortable, it is easy to move in (I have no trouble turning my head), it is everything I expected (not to even mention the amazing graphics). With that said I cannot even imagine what it's follower could feel like. Fully carbon (mmm I like) and as always with style.
Hello, First to say this review is one of the most detailed review I have seen. Am eagerly waiting for this helmet to hit the market. I love everything about the helmet. Do you guys have any dates when this helmet will be available on revzilla ?
Helmet looks great! cant wait to see it on the market!
It also doesn't interfere with collars and humps depending on the ergonomics of your position.
yeah, its still prototype though. there may be changes till e final product. definitely waiting for it
Nice. Ive seen this at AGV Booth on recent Malaysian GP at Sepang.
I have the GP Tech and this pista is on another level , the fit is perfect
Cant wait for the Corsa. My GP Tech has been set aside for street riding only because the "brow view" was way to distracting for me on the track when leaning into tight turns.
Will the Corsa improve on this as well just like it seems the Pista has?
one the key features about this helmet that was not mentioned (which i'm really interested) is the high neck line at the back. makes it much easier to tuck if they helmet isn't pressing on the back on your neck. more helmet and jackets need to take this into account.
Anthony when did you film this?! I was going to ask about the Pista in Indianapolis, but figured you wouldnt have much info on it... Boy was I wrong!!... Great review... So excited to see the technology in helmets changing... I think the prototype graphic would sell for sure!! I'd buy two if I had the money :(..
We are anxiously waiting! Hopefully it will hit this Spring. Keep checking our site for details. ~Ali
We are dying to get our hands on an AGV Corsa, but no luck yet. I'm sure the video review will come as soon as we see this model debuted in the US. Same story with the Aerster, its a sexy suit, but not available in the US so we haven't gotten our hands on one. -CK
We do not have a confirmation on pricing just yet, but I'm guessing it's going to be closer to the $1500 mark than the $1000. ~Ali
It's even more impressive in person! ~Ali
We are hoping for Spring 2013. ~Ali
This helmet is just amazing!!! So nice and well made! Worth the money! Thanks Revzilla for the great review and good service for buying my perfect helmet.
I like the AGV GP-Tech Winter Test Helmet graphic will it be available tor the new AGV helmets like GT Veloce, Pista GP, AGV Corsa????
Thank you for noticing! ~Ali
awesome review!!!
We haven't been given a firm release date, but know AGV is looking at early 2013 for the launch date. ~Ali
I wear an Arai RX7. Shoei's are uncomfortable to my head size. Will this fit me well or take tweaking? also, what are the main differences between the PistaGP, the Corsa and the other helmet you mentioned... Veloche?
That's a smokin' deal. If you pick one up, please give us your feedback once you've spent some time riding with it. ~Ali
What's your guys' most popular helmet sold to the supermoto crowd? I wear my Shoei Vfx-w but the dirt helmet gets old after a while. I had a RF1100 and liked it, but idk what I should get for a new street helmet.
This is a beautiful helmet....I'm currently using the Five Continents GP Tech, which I purchased from Revzilla, but damn.....I want this one!!!!!!!
I know there are no detents for the shield but does it "click" into the fully open position or will it fall down if riding with it open?
great review!
Anthony, you got this one wrong.
I have had two Corsa Winter Test helmets and shields. The first helmet started "eating shields" - the shields would crack where the polycarbonate shield material is attached to the metal fittings with small screws. My first helmet also had the shield latch mechanism literally fall apart while I was on the freeway. I was in the process of getting a complete replacement from the factory after a long fight when the helmet was damaged in an accident.
The second helmet was a replacement for the first which was damaged when I was rear-ended (I walked away unhurt). The second helmet is 9 months old and has not had any parts break (so far), but the shields are damaged and I have to replace them at $88 apiece.
I have bought three shields so far and I just ordered a fourth from Revzilla. I don't have any choice if I want to keep using my $500+ dollar helmet.
Basically a very poor shield design. Attaching a brittle polycarbonate to metal fittings with small screws is just never going to work.
Valentino Rossi probably uses a new shield every ride, so he never sees the problems the rest of us do. For a $750 helmet, this is simply unacceptable.
I will never buy a AGV helmet with this design again. never.
i currently have an agv gp tech helmet..and i am looking forward to buying this helmet..i must admit i don't like the rear wing ..however you said its removable..?? if yes how do i take it out...i still haven't ordered one when will it hit the shelves..?? i can't wait...also does this come with a chin curtain..??? and what about the price..??
When are the corsa and veloce going to arrive.....
Revzilla, will you recommend this helmet over the Corsa for street agressive riding?
Dear Revzilla,
When the pistagp helmet comes out, is international shipping service available?
Hey Man,
I'm from Malaysia & I'm really looking to order this out!
Seriously, when will this be available?
Cheers!
I absolutely love the AGV GP Tech. The helmet functions great, stands out in traffic, and it fits like a glove. However I cant wait for this new AGV Pista helmet to replace its predecessor, reason being is that the GP Tech blocks my view when am ducking in the bubble at the track. So if this new AGV improves that and then some am all for it. Cant wait.
When is it releasing? Gonna be a day 1 purchase for me!
Thanks! It's easy to review amazing products. ~Ali
most helmets I have to push the chin up when I am tucked as the visibility is way too low or the helmet is cut too low the brow comes down too far..so I'll rest the chin on the windscreen and jamb it up to push the brow up for more visibility.. I see guys riding down the road and their helmet or head at the wrong position, get the chin into your chest, how they are designed to cut through the air
If there is only one currently in North America, how are we able to try it on for proper fit especially considering the different / new egg head shape? Very impressed with your ability to get such limited products such as this. Visor lock / release is awesome...hope more follow suit. I'm willing to wear and review for you so feel free to send it my way!!!!
any idea on prices for the lid yet? Personally I ride in all top helmets my favourite is still schuberth sr1 and the one thing i really don't like about this helmet is the pop in/out air vents? sounds like money saving to me... definitely not for the road compared to arai or schiberth for me. no way could you use this in the winter such a shame was really wanting to get this
so yep.. i know it took me some time to answer but i wanted to contact you in spring..soo what about the price.?..with the tech this PistaGP has.. the price is the only thing we should be worried about..and i was wondering do you guys have a video of the corsa.??
in improvement of weight light , aerodynamics and more air 200 percent and qiuetness hope , can get more acceleration in time ,,good sport athelic helmett done agv
That's a whole bunch of paper, but what do you expect from a full carbonfiber helmet.
I'm most excited about the extra field of view from this helmet. I've got the GP Tech Misano 2011 helmet and when I go deep into a corner (especially with the hump on my back) I do miss that extra bit of vision.
When is this going on sale at revzilla? I can't wait to get one :)
This helmet is a piece of art!
The Corsa should share much of the DNA from the PistaGP. The increased viewing in the eye port should also be incorporated into the Corsa. ~Ali
For full CF it will be north of $1000 if it comes to the states.
Daaaamn i want one !! Flawless !!
Ali does it comes with different design?
RevZilla,
I have 2 requests, could you do a review of an AGV Corsa helmet?
It's like the Pista GP but as a "roadsport" kind of version.
And the Dainese Aerster div. 2-piece suit?
It's the best 2-piece suit from Dainese right now.
I'd be interested to buy from Revzilla, because they don't
have the "estiva" (perforated) version here in Germany.
Please?
thank you..i really want that helmet..
What dainese jacket is that at the 8:50 mark?
Interesting, very interesting...rethinking my next helmet
You should do a comparative video with all top of line helmets.
We have our Race Helmet Overview and Buying Guide but, it's due for an update. -Hi-Viz Brian
Race Helmet Overview & Buying Guide at RevZilla.com
looks good
What! how did you get this..
Hey guys, I am really looking forward to buying this helmet when it comes out. I really want to own a carbon Helmet that dose not have to to be super expensive. I currently own a Suomy but have owned AGV helmets in the past, and they are great, a bit big but good.
Awesome, Ill buy it!!!
I love you guys!
Did you buy it from a company overseas?
Do you have the AGV Pista GP Helmet for sell ? How much does it cost ?
How the hell did you get your hands on this?
Even in Italy it is hard to get anything substantial around this helmet.
Respect Revzilla. Respect!
LP
Can you give us an approx retail cost on this thing?
ETA on availability?
That's a smart move from AGV on increasing the visor view that's what the GP Tech was lacking.
How much for pre-order AGV PISTA GP Helmet prize ?
Do all the sizes have different shell sizes or are some of them similar? For example, are the shell sizes for ML and L same and the only difference is padding or the shell sizes vary too?
There are four (4) shell sizes to cover seven (7) sizes. The shell breakdown is XS-S, MS, ML-L, and XL-2XL. So only size medium-small (MS) has its own shell. So between ML and L, the only difference is the liner and cheek pad thickness.

hope they dont get crazy with prices.... there are some good lids out there RPC10 and Star with no crazy prices.
sick helmet!!! I have the shoei xspirit II kallio2 and it seems like grandpa comparing this
This helmet is masterpiece
Now someone asked me whether my pista is original, I really dunno the characteristics of an ori pista compared to fake one
aww..ok thats nice..thank you..
I wonder if we could use tis off the track and on the road touring on a touring type bike
Extremly Awesome There's nothin' stopping you, but it wouldn't perform very well. It'd be like commuting through stop and go traffic with a Ferrari Enzo. The GT Veloce, when it comes out, will be much better for touring: www.revzilla.com/agv-gt-veloce-helmet
Hi guys, me too I really like to buy this helmet, and I like to know y I can put my G9 on this.
I'm buying my 6th shield. The first 5 came apart in various ways, all due to cracks at the pivots or front latch. If I didn't have so much invested in the helmet, I'd never buy another shield. The helmet (Corsa) isn't much better.
This helmet looks like hell. ultra nice!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im currently using K3 SV, which gets the job done for shorter city rides, however Id like to upgrade to pista gp. How does this bad boy work on a naked bike considering airflow, no fairings or screen?
danilo Radulovic It's really optimized for a full tuck race position. The GT Veloce would be better for an upright naked bike. -DrewZilla

What do you prefer?
Between this and Arai corsair v carbon?
Thank you very much
Thitipong Chonlajit I prefer the Arai Corsair V because it fits my head shape better (intermediate oval). What is your head shape? -Hi-Viz Brian
hi there.
how would you compare this AGV to the X-lite ultra carbon ?
wiwwee It's a tough comparison for us to make, as X-lite isn't sold in the US. But, I will say that the AGV Pista uses more shell sizes (4 shells vs. X-lite's 3 shells) and the AGV is more compact. -DrewZilla
