    The EM272's are so versatile and perfect for field recording, especially when you need to pack light. Love your setup and jealous of your backyard recording location. New subscriber and looking forward to coming back for more! Thanks.

    ORTF is for cardioid mic patterns. Since the EM272's are omni, this is an "AB" spaced pair. The angle/direction of them is not very relevant and it's the spacing, not direction, that provides the spacial cues.

      and what is the best spacing for this kind of mics to get the best stereo results?

    • @AndyGregor
      @AndyGregor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've not done enough testing yet myself but I have seen a few people using anything up to a 1M separating there mics.
      What you are recording matters too, if it soundscapes go wider for better separation. If it's bee's or frogs in nature and you are close to them the 20cm spacing on the Rode sound bar gives plenty stereo separation.

  • @soundhobo

    Very good. I like the Micbooster Clippys there great microphones. With omni AB spaced pairs I find a little more distance than the Rode bar provides is better. But it’s all horses for courses and that sounded great with headphones 🎧👍

    • @AndyGregor
      @AndyGregor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I've not tried them spaced any wider yet as the bar is just too handy a setup on the bag. I plan to give it a go though as I've been told it does give a better/wider stereo field.

      @@AndyGregor K&M do a folding stereo bar that’s smaller than the Rode and very compact but has the length for AB stereo. I have the Rode as well, it’s a good bit of kit 👍

    Im quite new to this, so sorry if this comes off as a stupid question, but is here a major difference between the XLR cable version and the 3.5mm jack version? I read that the 3.5mm jack cables transmit unbalanced stereo signal, but would that be a big problem in practical use? Thanks)

    • @AndyGregor
      @AndyGregor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much Andrew.
      After I have finished editing my video I render the audio only and then open that file in Reaper DAW.
      I open the Spectrum analyser plug in within Reaper, tweak the settings and size of the window then capture with OBS.
      Then I just sync up the captured waveform in the editor.

    Is it ORTF or AB ?
