I think the Crown Vic is one of the most iconic cop cars of all time. Its been in most movies car chases or car movie. Its the fastest car in almost every NFS came lol, I don't own a Victoria *Cuz ive spent it all on upgrades for my Crosstrek* but I would love to own a ex cop car and pull over my non car guy friends.
Used to have a 91 LTD Crown Vic, and a 99 Crown Vic. 99 was overall better with newer tack and stuff, but that car never left me on the side of the road. In the 91 I had to replace the transmission but luckily at the time my uncle and grandfather were rebuilding a fox body Mustang and they were converting it over to the five speed manual, so I ended up just Using the automatic that was originally in their car. Other than that it’s pretty much just routine maintenance as well as where in tear items such as a water pump, thermostat, etc. Anytime somebody’s looking for a cheap reliable four-door car that’s fairly good on gas and that’s cheap to maintain and to ensure, I always recommend a Crown Vic
"Crown Vics are pretty much bullet-proof." Some of them came with Kevlar panels in the doors, so they were literally bullet-proof! Or at least bullet-resistant.
My favorite thing about Crown Vics is how tough they are. I even compared them to Volvo bricks. Here in Florida, many people owned civilian ones. The seniors would maintain them well, drive them little, and sell them at great prices.
This is crazy. Literally bought a P71 yesterday. Been watching this channel for a while. Was also looking at C5 vettes and 350z but went with the Vic for the reliability and amazing deal
I was issued both as a patrol officer. The downside to the Vic was that they sat low to the ground, which made them a bit of a pain (literally) to get in and out of quickly with all of your gear on. Once you were in you were good...though due to the specific equipment in mine, vison was a bit of an issue when looking out of the passenger side of the windshield. The cage also didn't leave anyone in the back seat with much room. I always felt bad about that. If you put an average size person in there, they're knees are against the cage without much in the way of being able to move their legs at all. After the Vic, I was issued a brand new 16 Interceptor Utility. It was better. There was more room in the cage, the car was a lot easier to get in and out of, and the equipment in mine made it so that the vision out of the windshield was unobstructed. The bad - for awhile after they came out, the design made a component of the motor (I can't remember which component) prone to breaking off if pretty much anything was driven over. It didn't seem to have the same clearance as the Vic, so you would bottom out a lot sooner. I feel like Ford made Interceptor Utilities to be disposable. Go on the highway enough and you're going to start loosing body panels. The most common of which was the A-pillar panels, specifically. They are SLOW. I was dispatched to a woman who was ejected from a car and laying in the middle of the highway. Our state police were very far away, so they asked if I could respond (I was a city cop). I drove towards the scene running lights and siren. I was going uphill...maybe a 3-degree grade, and I was literally slowing down. It wouldn't even maintain 90 (the speed limit is 75). Another Officer was behind me in a Tahoe and was wondering why I was slowing down. Overall I prefer the Crown Vic.
Had a white one, repainted at maaco, learned to detail cars with it, spent 5k fixing all the problems it had but it was fun, took the mufflers off and it sounds GOOD.
We bought an 09 all black, dual spotlights, full pit bar, CPV for my daughter’s first car. She absolutely loves it, and I love to drive it myself when I get the chance. Such a fun car to own and drive! Just wish the CPV had cruise control... perfect car for a teenage girl, built like a tank and everyone slows down lol
find a civilian crown vic/grand marquis/ town car wheel with the cruise control buttons. swap it out and take it to your local dealer so they can flash the cruise control software into the computer. if you look closely at your dashboard, the light for it is there. fleet models just didn’t come with it as standard like civilian ones did.
Videos like this is what makes crown vics so expensive. I remember back in the day you can buy one for $500 guarantee no matter what. And now getting one near or at that price is a pipe dream
I had a 97 crown vic. Bought it for 2 grand cash with 125,000 miles. No rust, good interior, no paint damage or any previous accidents. Owned the car for 5 years before I sold it to a friend who needed a reliable car. It was the best car I've ever owned all around. Super durable and reliable. The only money I put into it was regular maintenance. Sold it for a 1000 dollars. He wrecked it 2 months later..... Wish I still had that car, it was my daily driver. RIP to the Boat Ride
I have an 05 retired P71 and it's my favorite car I've ever owned. Besides having bad gas mileage it's a great reliable car. It is a head turner that i spent only $2,000 on and gets more attention than other sports cars people spend $25k + on 😆
Mine was a rust free Kentucky state police car admin vehicle so it has black carpet and charcoal bench seats with arm rests. It also had 130k on the odometer along with the plugs, coils and intake manifold already done so i felt it was justified
the whole "is that a cop behind me?" effect is diminished quite alot recently. most people alive today grew up with unmarked chargers and escapes giving them that ulcer. the average person really doesnt associate the crown vic with undercover cop anymore.
As the owner of a 2008 retired Crown Vic I absolutely love it mine and they come with a super power on the highway being everyone in the left lane gets out of your way almost immediately
I own an ‘04 CrownVic LX with less than 70,000 miles on it and in exceptional condition. I inherited it three years ago from my father when he passed away. And I pamper it maybe more than he did. This car doesn’t look sixteen years old. Since taking ownership I have been moderately and tastefully modifying it so it still looks close to factory showroom. It has aftermarket rims and stickier rubber (I kept the OEM rims for winter tires), it has a chromed honeycomb grille, it has beefed up front and rear stabilizer bars, Stainless Works dual exhaust, Marauder air intake, Metco rear control arms and Watts Link, and 3:27 gears. It’s fun to drive yet I treat it with respect and don’t abuse it. Three people have asked if it was for sale, but no dice. If I listen to old-school country music while driving I feel like Dad is riding with me.
If you really want one. I will tell you, I own a 2000 Grand Marquis LS with Handling and Performance package. Its built like a tank, gets the same mileage as a F150. But I wouldnt trade it for anything. Its the best car money can buy for someone who wants a enjoyable, easy to work on project car. The community is great, supportive and will always help out.
The "Cop" engine is exactly the same as the "Street" engine. It just has a more aggressive ECU tune, bigger radiator, bigger alternator, factory dual exhaust, chassis reinforcements, beefed up suspension and brakes, 3.55 gear ratios and oil and trans coolers. Other than that, they are the same car
Let’s not neglect the fact this had the exact same engine as the sn95 mustang GT and can use essentially all performance aftermarket parts to increase power output by a decent margin. Although the charger RT isn’t the fastest thing if I seen a crown Vic stick with one I’d be impressed considering how they are from factory. Oh and interceptors come with 3.73 posi out the gate.
Yeah when I saw that I was pissed. He atleast could have used some beat to hell ones. Some of the unmarked police cars he had were clean till that boring race.
I still have 2 of 5 that I've owned. 2004 fully equipped and 2010 SAP with fire suppression. 3 Chiefs cars, 1 prison patrol and 1 sheriff. Easy cars to work on, reliable, inexpensive and fairly safe with performance.
From my own experience, try and buy the ones from stations in small towns/rural/low crime areas/low speeding areas. The big issues with crown Vic’s isn’t the engines it’s mostly the transmission whims them. Luckily the transmissions from these also came in a lot of other cars but it’s still something to keep in mind when looking at them.
I had a jank-looking P71 in college (and still have it). Whenever my friends rode in it, they'd try to blast random passers-by with the spotlights before I could tell them not to. Eventually disabled them. Rear doors couldn't open unless I pulled a pin from the front, which sketched people out. Every single time I saw another guy driving a Crown Vic, we'd wave at each other. Other Vics had a tendency to park next to mine in lots. You're in the club once you own one of these clunkers. I love it.
Celebrating my 1 year anniversary with my vic. Put a glasspack on it and installed LED's behind the grill. Its literally the best choice I could've made in my 19 years of being alive!
I’m 54, just bought an old fbi crown Vic a month ago. 135000 miles 411 idle hours. Never thought I’d love a 4 door sedan so much. I was a teen in the late 70s early 80s. Trans am s and Cameros were king. My crown Vic is a nice ride, v8 rear wheel drive. Shiny black paint. Beautiful car
Best car I ever had was a Mercury Cougar 4.6. I had over 600,000 miles on it. Never burned a drop of oil. Best 5.0 mustangs with that car. Got too old so I scrapped it
I super love the Crown Victoria!! If Ford managed to keep the CV, they would’ve replaced the 4.6L V8 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 and upgrade the transmission to a 6R80, they could’ve could also put up turbocharged or supercharged variations of the civilian and police interceptor versions. Alas, Ford scrapped the future of the Crown Victoria, but did not stop movies with car chases using the Crown Victoria as well as video games like Need For Speed to continue the legacy of the Crown Victoria and relive its glory days. Crown Victoria enthusiasts can also customize the car even engine swaps are possible!!

We leave the spolights on bc they cut through the A pillar and we dont want to leave a big hole there. Also because its pretty fun to mess with friends lmao
Spotlights and push bars? If you could buy any car or truck and it came with spotlights and a push bar as an option for free wouldn't you do it? I mean how badass would a Lexus ES400, Ford Raptor, or a Subaru STI look with spotlights and a push bar on it? Granted they won't look good on everything but I can think of a lot of vehicles that would look better with them.
My MGM is a 2000. Most people probably don't believe you about the handling, but you're spot on. As long as I do my part, this car does everything asked of it without complaint... As I luxuriate in its leather couch of a front seat.
Not happening for the protestors are mostly young in their 20's and they don't think of a Crown Vic as being a LEO car like how someone older knows about for they didn't really see that much if any. I'd hope they don't think it's a cop car for they might flip it and set afire like seen in some cities 4 or 5 months ago. They go for marked cars that read in big letters, POLICE. They also go for anyone screaming at them, ' All lives matter,' or, 'Trump 2020!'
@@c4llahan Yea, they still use them in smaller towns as cop cars, but not in the city for they're mostly Yellow Cabs in the city. I think a few people who was seeing mine going, 'hey cop, you gonna arrest me? oooh cop, LOL' were from smaller towns visiting the city for it was Friday afternoon and Saturday when I received harassment. My approach is, 'hey this is America, it's my country too, and we are supposed to respect the rights of one another including what we choose to personally drive or wear,' but some just can't be a real American so they act disrespectful and bad for they're just insecure cowards. In the event of the country melting down like a big financial fiasco happens that we can't recover from leaving everyone in a lurch, some of them probably would shoot me just for a model of car. I've got, 'NOT A COP,' decal on it which is a first, but I'm sure I'd get hated on for a red Ford truck or a blue BMW or whatever else I came up with. lol
Not quite a crown Vic but I used to have an ERT suburban with a 6.0l, it was awesome. it had diamond plate running boards and a crazy sturdy roof rack, it also still had the ghost lights. Best part was I got it at the auction for $4000, drove it for a year or so and sold it for $8000.
Prices are certainly climbing. We enjoy cheap iron so much that we started a "spec panther" time attack series here in the mid-west of the US. They are super durable and a great bang for the buck even with the prices going up.
Every once in a while I'll see an actual P71 or P7B that is still in service with lights and decals. Every time I see one, I'm always amazed with how good they look.
i personally love the car as someone who as a teen beat the shit out of my cars my crown vic never gave up no matter the torture. they were pretty cheap to repair, comfy for the most part, and imposing because people think you're a cop a night.
BigGulp 6969 I had one until I totaled it last week I never understood the hype yea I’d did nice burnouts but that’s really it i don’t get how people can slide them the weight distribution is terrible
They're usually pretty affordable. I got my all-black police interceptor complete with driver/passenger side spotlights and front push bar for only $4500. It had 68,000 miles and 7,000 idle hours on the motor. Runs good, all service was up to date.
Best first car ever! I was 19 when I got a 2001 crown Vic and straight piped it. Everyone in my little town hated me but I loved it. Especially on dirt roads!
I love my 2010 P7B. I had a 2000 P71 for a couple years before the current one back in 2016. The scare factor is real. Not as epic as it once was, but people still react all the time to the legend of the "The Crown"..
I've had two Panthers, have one currently (an 07 Grand Marquis) and from my experience owning these cars for 14 years I recommend the granny driven civilian cruisers.
Already got a Red 02 Merc, 58k miles, blacked windows, TORQ Thrust, 275 TA Sports, Marauder front bumper w chin, flat back spoiler. Snatched tips off a dead Marauder, paired with high flow cats and performance mufflers, shes mean, shes rowdy, and doesn't take shit. Absolute cruiser.

The car cleetus built was really Forza Motorsport at best, not very creative. Don't be butt hurt because you can't fanboy over the car that 240sx taxed all crown victorias.
@@NachoChurro we got a solid 2003 gs300 (245k miles) for 1300 and replaced radiator, valve cover gasket and water pump/timing belt and it's been perfect ever since. My 98 ls400 is quite a bit quicker stock though. I wish America got the GTE in the GS
Just bought a '99 Crown Vic LX from the original owner. It's old man/lady tan with tan leather and virtually spotless at 153k miles. Scored it for $2500. I'd forgotten how quiet, smooth and powerful they are. V8 and rear wheel drive. What can I say. I love my Panther. It's my old dude who's aged out of Mustang car lol
I wanted a crown Vic for years and when I finally got one in March I hit a deer at 70 mph barely a month later. The car survived and drove home perfectly fine minus a tire with a shredded spot. The radiator bent but didn’t leak. Built ford tough. I miss that car so much but I guess it did it’s job in making sure I wasn’t injured. The guy I sold it to is making it into a race car for a lemon race. Probably going to get a Lincoln town car next since I loved the V8 and body style of the vic but the interior was barebones and kinda inconvenient.
Bought a 2008 Crown Vic and owned a 1999 Grand Marquis (same car different badge) and I love them both. Very well built, tough as hell and very easy to work on! Dependable just thirsty.
I own three of them. One CVPI and two grandma's variants. Wouldn't trade or sell them. Best sedans I've ever owned. Don't try to quote unquote scars anyone with them though. They're our dailies.
Since no department around here uses crown vics anymore, I now get more jumpscares from chargers and explorers and now vics I see as bad ass daily drivers, or police impersonators.

Its built like a tank, gets the same mileage as a F150. But I wouldnt trade it for anything. Its the best car money can buy for someone who wants a enjoyable, easy to work on project car. The community is great, supportive and will always help out.
Imagine if they came in manual. That paired with the cop engine would be amazing.
Manual swaps are fairly easy, they even make kits for it. It's nearly a straight bolt on from the mustang engines

The "Cop" engine is exactly the same as the "Street" engine. It just has a more aggressive ECU tune, bigger radiator, bigger alternator, factory dual exhaust, chassis reinforcements, beefed up suspension and brakes, 3.55 gear ratios and oil and trans coolers. Other than that, they are the same car

Let’s not neglect the fact this had the exact same engine as the sn95 mustang GT and can use essentially all performance aftermarket parts to increase power output by a decent margin. Although the charger RT isn’t the fastest thing if I seen a crown Vic stick with one I’d be impressed considering how they are from factory. Oh and interceptors come with 3.73 posi out the gate.
Interceptors do indeed not come with 3.73 posi, mine came with an open differential that’s something like a 3.27 I believe

I still have 2 of 5 that I've owned. 2004 fully equipped and 2010 SAP with fire suppression. 3 Chiefs cars, 1 prison patrol and 1 sheriff. Easy cars to work on, reliable, inexpensive and fairly safe with performance.
From my own experience, try and buy the ones from stations in small towns/rural/low crime areas/low speeding areas. The big issues with crown Vic’s isn’t the engines it’s mostly the transmission whims them. Luckily the transmissions from these also came in a lot of other cars but it’s still something to keep in mind when looking at them.

I had a jank-looking P71 in college (and still have it). Whenever my friends rode in it, they'd try to blast random passers-by with the spotlights before I could tell them not to. Eventually disabled them. Rear doors couldn't open unless I pulled a pin from the front, which sketched people out. Every single time I saw another guy driving a Crown Vic, we'd wave at each other. Other Vics had a tendency to park next to mine in lots. You're in the club once you own one of these clunkers. I love it.
Celebrating my 1 year anniversary with my vic. Put a glasspack on it and installed LED's behind the grill. Its literally the best choice I could've made in my 19 years of being alive!
I’m 54, just bought an old fbi crown Vic a month ago. 135000 miles 411 idle hours. Never thought I’d love a 4 door sedan so much. I was a teen in the late 70s early 80s. Trans am s and Cameros were king. My crown Vic is a nice ride, v8 rear wheel drive. Shiny black paint. Beautiful car
Best car I ever had was a Mercury Cougar 4.6. I had over 600,000 miles on it. Never burned a drop of oil. Best 5.0 mustangs with that car. Got too old so I scrapped it

I super love the Crown Victoria!! If Ford managed to keep the CV, they would’ve replaced the 4.6L V8 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 and upgrade the transmission to a 6R80, they could’ve could also put up turbocharged or supercharged variations of the civilian and police interceptor versions. Alas, Ford scrapped the future of the Crown Victoria, but did not stop movies with car chases using the Crown Victoria as well as video games like Need For Speed to continue the legacy of the Crown Victoria and relive its glory days. Crown Victoria enthusiasts can also customize the car even engine swaps are possible!!

They also go for anyone screaming at them, ' All lives matter,' or, 'Trump 2020!'

I think a few people who was seeing mine going, 'hey cop, you gonna arrest me? oooh cop, LOL' were from smaller towns visiting the city for it was Friday afternoon and Saturday when I received harassment. My approach is, 'hey this is America, it's my country too, and we are supposed to respect the rights of one another including what we choose to personally drive or wear,' but some just can't be a real American so they act disrespectful and bad for they're just insecure cowards. In the event of the country melting down like a big financial fiasco happens that we can't recover from leaving everyone in a lurch, some of them probably would shoot me just for a model of car. I've got, 'NOT A COP,' decal on it which is a first, but I'm sure I'd get hated on for a red Ford truck or a blue BMW or whatever else I came up with. lol
Not quite a crown Vic but I used to have an ERT suburban with a 6.0l, it was awesome. it had diamond plate running boards and a crazy sturdy roof rack, it also still had the ghost lights. Best part was I got it at the auction for $4000, drove it for a year or so and sold it for $8000.
Prices are certainly climbing. We enjoy cheap iron so much that we started a "spec panther" time attack series here in the mid-west of the US. They are super durable and a great bang for the buck even with the prices going up.
Every once in a while I'll see an actual P71 or P7B that is still in service with lights and decals. Every time I see one, I'm always amazed with how good they look.
i personally love the car as someone who as a teen beat the shit out of my cars my crown vic never gave up no matter the torture. they were pretty cheap to repair, comfy for the most part, and imposing because people think you're a cop a night.

It’s cheaper to get a 90s Mustang GT now. Same engine. Lower price.
They're usually pretty affordable. I got my all-black police interceptor complete with driver/passenger side spotlights and front push bar for only $4500. It had 68,000 miles and 7,000 idle hours on the motor. Runs good, all service was up to date.

The car cleetus built was really Forza Motorsport at best, not very creative. Don't be butt hurt because you can't fanboy over the car that 240sx taxed all crown victorias.

@@NachoChurro we got a solid 2003 gs300 (245k miles) for 1300 and replaced radiator, valve cover gasket and water pump/timing belt and it's been perfect ever since. My 98 ls400 is quite a bit quicker stock though. I wish America got the GTE in the GS

Just bought a '99 Crown Vic LX from the original owner. It's old man/lady tan with tan leather and virtually spotless at 153k miles. Scored it for $2500. I'd forgotten how quiet, smooth and powerful they are. V8 and rear wheel drive. What can I say. I love my Panther. It's my old dude who's aged out of Mustang car lol

I wanted a crown Vic for years and when I finally got one in March I hit a deer at 70 mph barely a month later. The car survived and drove home perfectly fine minus a tire with a shredded spot. The radiator bent but didn’t leak. Built ford tough. I miss that car so much but I guess it did it’s job in making sure I wasn’t injured. The guy I sold it to is making it into a race car for a lemon race. Probably going to get a Lincoln town car next since I loved the V8 and body style of the vic but the interior was barebones and kinda inconvenient.
