As for water proofing plates, I have for years vacuum sealed mine with a food saver product. Works really well and I reseal once a year just because. Trim the edges with rounded cut and you're golden.

Im using a pot belly wood stove that I cut in half, held together with Gorilla tape. I was Infantry in the 80's and had flac jackets. I went with the JPC 2.0 with class 1V plates. Quality is awesome.
I was a Combat Camera in MES with the Regiment and Crye had contacted me with a photo asking if I had taken it. It was mine from a few months back and I told them I took it out on an operation and they said someone used it for a photo contest and I won. So they sent me a care package filled with a bunch of cool stuff.

I've used a Mayflower APC for years. It's been my favorite. I've tried out the JPC and I also own a Chase Tactical SOCC M1 for a lower profile option. From the ones I've used the Mayflower APC is still my favorite.
Ive run the JPC for a very long time and can say it is a damn good carrier. I have no experience with the SPC, but I can say the JPC is way more comfortable than any other issued vest I have had.
Seems like a lot of these newer PCs like the spc and fcpcv5 are getting on the rigid cumberbund thing. I hope more companies keep it going. I'm liking this ferro one so far larping around the house.

Us Army pilots love that underwater egress too. Ditching! Ditching! Ditching! Also, during my Infantry days during a deployment to Iraq in 07-08 we had a Stryker roll off a very unstable dirt path near a canal near Camp Normandy and had some guys drown. I still don't know if their armor was the contributing factor to them not making it out though.

When I was in the Army on tanks in the 90s and 00s, we weren't allowed to train in our nomex coveralls or use our regular equipment because there was no funding to replacement any of it. Didn't matter anyway, Clinton deployed us to the Balkans in '95, '96, '97, and '99 without our tanks or proper infantry training anyway and yes, that resulted in various shitshows of epic proportions. Then "The Event" happened in '01 and we were deployed in '03 to the desert with the same damn gear we weren't really allowed to train in because, again, no money to replace if it broke or got damaged, and once again had tankers doing infantry and MP work we weren't really trained in. Interesting, dangerous-as-fuck times and yes, it got a lot of soldiers dead. And one day when they eventually declassify it all about 50 years from, everyone will see it and get all sad-faced and then promptly forget about it and make the same damn mistakes all over again. Here's a clue, Mr. Paul Bremer, when both armored and infantry divisions that have already successfully rebuilt two countries after two separate wars comes in and tells you your plan to disband the Iraqi military is completely fucked YOU SHOULD HEED WHAT THEY'RE TELLING YOU. I still hate Paul Bremer and yes, I'm still angry about the whole thing.

Put your PPT flat against the under part of your mag pouches or bottom of the plate. It is a spot easy to reach with both hands without stretching or having to force some gear out of the way to get your arm higher or further back. It also allows for a single chord to be run to your headset. Although it is minor it also puts more weight lower. Easy to reach and easy to route cables in the SPC with the stretchy sides keeping the cables tight. All while being out of the way for shouldering your firearm on either side and to be able to lay down flatter with fewer things between your plate and the dirt.
I literally just got fired from my job like an hour ago. Now I'm here hoping Papa's advice at the end of the video can give me some sort of clarity. Funny how life turns out.

Mike, I've watched this vid a bunch of times. When you reference having protection for the plates, it occurred to me that if someone were to make a waterproof membrane that easily covers the plates, without making it difficult to seat in the plate carrier, that would be ideal. Without knowing all the advances of water resistant materials, I would think a rubber membrane designed to the plates shape and size where the plate slides in and there's a pocket that folds under the bottom to completely cover the plate. Any vendors that like this idea...EHS Membrane has a ring to it. Carry on.
Seek out someone with the materials you're looking for ie a company that manufactures diving equipment or something like that and make it happen. I'm not sure what a patent would entail but it could be worth your time and resources. We all know that people will spend the money for quality and convenience even if something simple like vaccuum sealing is an option.

Exo is dope. Ran one for the Darin Fink SAC. Loved it. Went through a bunch of other options before I settled on Exo. Things are practically indestructible. It's "buy once, cry once" stuff.
Integrated Tactical Plate Carrier from UR Tactical, greatest one I have. Its got buckle quick release on the shoulders, cut outs for DAPS in the shoulder pads. I use the Kydex quick release with Raine Tactical Molle Bridger, goes over the quick release to give me back the 2 molle columns I lose to the kydex. I can fit 6 paintball pod pouches on front from Tactic World, which these mag pouches have elastic on sides so I can carry up to 12. Chest for WW1 whistle, compass, phone pouch, Molle II woodland admin pouch.
My 'plate' carrier was issued in 1968, they called it a flack jacket, very good against mortar fragments and spent rounds, against 7.62 longs and a-k rounds, not so much.

I'm not sure what a patent would entail but it could be worth your time and resources. Integrated Tactical Plate Carrier from UR Tactical, greatest one I have. Its got buckle quick release on the shoulders, cut outs for DAPS in the shoulder pads. I use the Kydex quick release with Raine Tactical Molle Bridger, goes over the quick release to give me back the 2 molle columns I lose to the kydex. I can fit 6 paintball pod pouches on front from Tactic World, which these mag pouches have elastic on sides so I can carry up to 12. Chest for WW1 whistle, compass, phone pouch, Molle II woodland admin pouch.

My 'plate' carrier was issued in 1968, they called it a flack jacket, very good against mortar fragments and spent rounds, against 7.62 longs and a-k rounds, not so much.
