Well said, unfortunately I believe that Jokic will be the exception, not the rule.
LBJ is the first "best player in the league" that went to the direct opposition to ring chase, and very few were appalled by it in the big media since Nike and ESPN had his back, and so did the NBA since he was, and probably still is the number one cash cow.
Now, compare it to the backlash KD's move got...

I think one of the things that people forget is just how many more great players are in the league at any given times right now. players are scouted earlier and more agressive than ever and Winning a championship even for the best players has gotten harder, in each playoffs there are at least 4 teams now that have very realistic chances for the title, another 2 who can make a miracle run and another 4-6, who can upset them. If you spaced this talent out the way it used to with one super star, another star player and a supporting cast around them, there would be 12 real contenders every season. I think we need to take that into account when we talk about stacking the deck. Having 2 superstars on your team is far from a guarantee for a championship these days.

They even have high character leaders on the bench (Jordan and Smith) to reinforce that character. The second that Hyland started to moan about his minutes and wasn’t committed to the team winning, he got shipped off to the clippers. You can’t win with Harden in your locker room. If you need to do that to succeed, you are just not up there, making your trip to the top a fabrication.

First Cleveland, after Miami (when he promise 8 titles), and finally Cleveland again. In Lakers when he did not have all star teammate he did not enter play-off. In bubble he won championship with just one all star teammate, but in Cleveland and Miami even 2 all star were not enough. Compare this to Jokic who did not have all star teammate in whole NBA career. This is what some of today's player who team hop got wrong. They think if you surround yourself with the best then the championship will fall into your lap. It takes more than that, maturity, mental toughness, team chemistry, how could you obtain that if you team hop?
This is why MJ and bulls started winning, they didn't look back. But then you have to ask why MJ still won the 2nd 3-peat if all the bulls in that 96-98 run were not in the 1st 3 peat except pippen. Is that because of leadership? Or is MJ just good at carrying a team to win chips.

Jamal was selected with a pick they got during the Carmelo trade, so Denver having a good or bad record had no affect on the the pick.
Anyway, Denver is a team that consistently finds productive players in the late first round and second round. In 20 years since getting Melo, the only other high pick Nuggets have had besides Murray is Emmanuel Mudiay.
Also, saying Jokic or the Nuggets were bad his first few seasons is a reach. Jokic was one of the finalist for rookie of the year and for the first 5 years in the Malone era, the team improved their winning percentage from the previous year. Would've made the playoffs in the 2nd and 3rd year if the West wasn't so stacked, missed by 1 game one year and didn't qualify the next year despite having better record than 3 Eastern playoff teams.

      Steph warriors
15 of the last 32 titles with a 15-3 record in the finals.
The lakers and Celtics in the 80s were also primarily built thru the draft.
That is one of the main reasons jordan Duncan and Steph will always have that respect, they won on their own and didn’t have to join other top level players. They helped build the teams they won with. Lebron didnt. It is what it is.

it is not bad, but don't expect accolades because hopping team when the going gets tough will not get you the natural respect people give to players like MJ, Duncan, Kobe, Steph..

How can Barkley be against superteams? He tried to form one with the Rockets but still couldn't get the job done.
