@@KleinSchalker maybe you should watch how he moved around court, how he was the most fundamentally sound player you have ever seen. how he was the team leader of the redeem team. how he took control during the moments shaq faltered during the 3-peat. how when given a minimum of help with gasol and odom he become champion twice. how he was the most lethal scorer of his generation. Was he inefficient at times (especially when he did not trust his teammates), sure. was he a bit cocky, definitely. did he make mistakes during his career. absolutely. doesn't change that once shaq deteriorated he became the best player in the nba and remained the best player in the nba until lebron matured on the miami heat. revisionist want to overrate duncan over kobe. Kobe Bryant was the best player in the NBA from 2005-2010. During that stretch he was the only NBA player to make 1st Team All NBA and 1st Team All Defense consecutively each year. Furthermore, he was the undisputed best player in the NBA in 2006, joining MJ as the only player post merger to average 35+ppg and make 1st Team All-Defense. I watched Kobe's entire career from the time he entered the league. R.I.P. to a Legend.

They have to disrespect Kobe because he’s LeBron’s biggest rival of the era. He won more than LeBron, had less help than LeBron, didn’t switch teams like LeBron, and played better than LeBron a majority of the time. The media needs you to forget all that so they can crown him as the best. That’s why clowns like Nick Wright have been tearing down Jordan for a decade. They’re trying to make you forget history. Anyone over 30 saw prime Kobe. Anyone over 40 saw prime Jordan. We all know what we saw, but the young kids don’t. The media needs them to crown LeBron going forward.

Kobe had a better overall career than LeBron in almost every way I can possibly think of. Higher highs, more clutch moments, more carries, more playoff game-winners. LeBron sucked until he had multiple superstars carrying him to Finals appearances 😂 Kobe took G-league starting 5’s to the playoffs in the years he didn’t play with Shaq and Gasol. The Lakers had nobody besides Kobe for YEARS and didn’t draft well at all and he STILL has more rings than LeBron WITHOUT SUPERTEAM HOPPING 😂 I’d bet anything you’re 20 or younger.

Was he the main guy when he took the raptors best player and joined him on the heat along with their best player? Was he the main guy when old-folks home Mavericks team destroyed him in the finals? No one his size was even guarding him that series! He had bosh and wade and his huge self and lost to a team of nearly retired players. What about when that spurs team absolutely DESTROYED them in that other finals series. When he lost multiple times by huge margins. What about when Kyrie hit clutch 4th quarters 3s that saved him inn those games against GSW? Was he the main guy there too? The list is freaking endless man. What about his many many flops in the playoffs? Literally flops where NO ONE touches him. Just a straight LIAR to go along with everything else. Then klutch got tv time and started slowly disrespecting Kobe to push the goat debate for LBJ. The whole “Kobe was never the best player in the league” was driven by klutch.
It’s also the same folks who had MJ as their goat and Kobe not far behind, when the klutch checks cleared they went from that to LBJ being the goat. Only media who disrespect past legends/current players just to prop up LBJ. MJ vs Kobe wasn't a debate, sadly, after Kobe got hurt. When it was clear he would not win a 2nd MVP (even though I think he should have gotten 3 anyway) or a 6th ring, and he would not fare well in his last seasons.

Honestly, the NBA media in particular is pretty disgusting.
While he was alive they all compared him to MJ and buttered him up at all possible moments, now the man is dead and the vultures are trying to tear apart his reputation, the only thing that remains.
Now I never was a particular Kobe fan but he played the game the right way.
While I never supported the Lakers I have to say that just because of his incredible work ethic I consider Kobe the greatest and most professional athlete to have ever lived.
And while I do not participate in these GOAT discussions, as I consider them nonsensical at every level, one thing can’t be ignored.
From all these players listed, Kobe might have had the least advantages regarding his body.
Yes he was phenomenal but compared to an LBJ he was far less gifted in that regard and still he got 100% of his potential out of himself.
If we judge players at all shouldn‘t we judge them based on what they did given the opportunities and chances they had? If you judge by this metric Kobe often will come out on top.

In my opinion he is clearly below Jordan, Kareem, LeBron, Magic and Bird. Then I also put Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain above him, but it's obviously difficult to compare them. I have him after Tim Duncan, at 9 all-time, just before Shaq and Hakeem (my 2nd favorite all-time player to watch).
It's not useful to deal in superlatives when we're talking about all-time greats and you don't need to attack someone or to belittle a player to put another one on a pedestal.
Of these players I named for my top 11, Kobe might be the one with the more "normal" physical attributes and therefore the one we sympathize with the most. Plus he was way more elegant with the ball in his hands than LeBron, to me. Lastly, he died a young superstar, a dad beloved byhis daughters, alongside one of them, and his tragic loss makes him that much more valuable in our eyes.

"first off you're mixing up your years with the two centers you named, considering one was retired and one missed most of those each of those seasons. "
Who was retired and who missed most of those season pleas elaborate. if you are talking about Yao? he retired in 2011. and in 2008 he played 55 games and 77 in 2009 season, he missed the entirety of the 2010 season due to injury, but had he played he still be the better center than Gasol and Bynum. also, I find it very hypocritical that you have an issue with games other centers played when Bynum during those three seasons played 35 games in 08, 50 in 09 and 65 in 2010. so, by your own logic... why are you claiming he's a top 3 when he missed so many games in those three seasons?
"Then you prove my point by throwing in PFs who could play center because the league WAS that pathetic at that position."
How does this prove your point if they are playing better at the center position than natural centers? whether they are natural center or not they played the position well enough... and better than both Bynum and Gasol. btw, Gasol has played just as many seasons as a PF than he has at center. so, let's not pretend like those two positions aren't interchangeable.
"So that leaves the guy with zero offensive game who you brought up. That makes two of three, not just on the same team but I. The same starting lineup. What next? Kobe was clutch?"
Like I said, this is a silly argument, because whether the player was a PF at some time in their career is irrelevant because at that point in time they were playing the center position therefore they were CENTERS. again, let's not be ignorant and pretend like players positions don't change based on either the team needs... or the player age. Jordan was a SG for most of his career. but when he came back with the Wizards he was moved to the SF position. same with Tim Ducan and so many other players. it's part of the game. so, your point here is moot.

Numbers don’t always tell the whole story. Remember in 2000 Kobe got Jalen Rosed. Game 2 he had that horrific injury with his ankle. So he missed game 3, what happened? The Lakers lost. Came back for game 4, when a lot of players would never comeback including Shaq with that type of significant ankle injury. Then what happened in game 4? Shaq fouls out and the rest his history which is what got Kobe’s fame. You get your name in the regular season but you get your fame in the playoffs, finals. So had Kobe not taken over game 4 that series would of been tied 2-2 and it’s any team’s series at that point so Shaq’s 36 points and 20 plus rebounds don’t matter had the Lakers lost that game 4. And I remind you that game 3 and 4 was in Indiana. Also remember Kobe was 21 years old when he took over game 4 too and he was hitting jump shots in that overtime also on Reggie Miller with his own move that he taught Kobe at UCLA. Also look 👀 at game 7 in the Western Conference Finals against Portland Kobe had better numbers than Shaq in that game too. So had Kobe not showed up for game 7 in the WCF’S we would not have seen the Lakers in the NBA Finals in 2000. At the end of the day Kobe won more chips without Shaq than Shaq won chips with Kobe and Shaq was lucky to get that last one. He got traded to a good team who had Wade County while Kobe had to start at the bottom to get to the top. Like Kobe said I got one more than Shaq and you can take that to the bank.

Serious question, if Shaq doesn't get to play with Kobe does he end up like Wilt with only one or two rings?
How much did he win with Penny Hardway and Nick Anderson? They played together for 3 seasons and won NOTHING.
Funny, the world seems to think ANYBODY could've won with prime Shaq and yet Shaq was getting swept without Kobe DESPITE playing with Nick Van Axel and Eddie Jones BOTH ALL STAR GUARDS.
So if the combination of Eddie Jones and Nick Van Axel couldn't do it, I doubt Penny was gonna do it considering how INJURY prone he was.
How come Shaq couldn't win without Kobe on ALL OF THOSE YEARS before AND after Kobe (yeah, he won ONE with Wade but that was in an eastern conference with no competition)?
How come Kobe won more WITHOUT Shaq than Shaq won without Kobe?
    Excuses in 3...2...1.
Kobe took Pau Gasol, a player who never even averaged 20 PPG ONCE playing with Kobe from 2007 to 2010 to THREE STRAIGHT FINALS in the West against the dynastic Spurs, Dirks Mavs, Denver and a loaded west that MULTIPLE TIMES had 50 win teams as 8th seeds.
Nuance is necessary. Nuance. Kobe was a LOCK DOWN defender too (most all nba defense selections of any perimeter player in NBA HISTORY - ironic because he gets dinged for his lack of regular season MVPS which are voted on by the exact same journalists).
Does Penny do what Kobe did in Game 7 vs Pippens Portland Trailblazers in the 2000 WCSF where at the age of 21 (21!!!!!) Kobe OUTSCORED AND OUTREBOUNDED Shaq in the most IMPORTANT game of that entire 3 peat (No Kobe heroics in Game 7 = No Ring in 2000 = No Dynasty). I have several SPECIFIC examples that debunk your point but I dont want to waste time typing.
5 Rings > Your Favorite Player (except for MJ)
Kobe is UNDERRATED not overrated lol.
Shaq is a tad overrated. Huge 4th quarter liability and Lazy. If he had a real worth ethic he'd REALLY considered the GOAT by many.
Why couldn't Shaq really win much without Kobe?
PLEASE explain. I'm all ears. 😂

What is this pseudointellectual drivel? 😂
Einstein, how are win shares computed?
What do they purport to measure? Does the thing WS purports to measure accurately measure that thing? Can we find several counterexamples of players with higher Win Shares but who clearly weren't the driving force of the ACTUAL WINS?
How precisely does WS accurately measure DEFENSE which, we all agree, is 50% of the game?
Lest you expose yourself as a pseudointellectual Kobe Hater grasping at a modicum of "advanced analytics" to prove that Kobe is, somehow, overrated despite 5 rings with widely different supporting casts, you're going to have to disabuse me of the aforementioned counterpoints.
      You won't succeed.
How did Pau do before AND after Kobe?
What did Pau do when the Lakers lost Kobe to his achilles injury that season, which, if I remember correctly, was still "Prime" Pau?
What did Pau do before Kobe? (SAME EXACT player on the Grizzlies just on a different team).
Oh, that's right, Pau couldn't win a single PLAYOFF GAME let alone series.
How many ALL NBA Defense Teams has Pau made?
      That's right ZERO.
Pau could've been replaced with Zach Randolph (who, since you have a penchant for statistical fetishization, actually had a better rebound rate than Pau in his prime), and the results would've been the EXACT same. Give Kobe prime LaMarcus Aldridge (who, last time I checked, actually put up more 40 point games than Pau did when they were in the NBA together), and he wins 2 rings.
And then people like you could invoke PER, or VORP, or some other algorithm, that supported your pre-existing biases.
Joel Embid is top 4 ALL TIME in PER so therefore Joel Embid is a top 4 all time player.
Since you're effectively using decontextualized stats like that to assert your point, you should agree with that proposition (you know, since Pau led in win shares).
Oh wait, there are bums with higher VORP and PER and Win Shares than consensus legends, NO WAYYYYYYYY!!!!
"There are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics." - Mark Twain
Kobe is the GOAT imo. And I don't need Win Shares to tell me that. If stats are the ultimate arbiter, Wilt IS the GOAT and, frankly, it's not even close (and they didn't even count blocks and steals back in the day lmao).
      Peace.

The proof is in the pudding. Any team LeBron ever had, Kobe and Jordan would have excelled to even higher levels than they did in their own careers with. The difference is in skill. The ability to take someone off the dribble with handles or quickness and still have the ability to stop on a dime and hit a pull up or a spin back jumper, that is something LeBron does not possess. LeBron has never had the ability to consistently get and hit his own pull up jumper especially from midrange. He also doesn't have a dependable low post game that he can go to in the clutch or to control tempo. Kobe, Jordan, even Westbrook all have great post games and average to above average pull up jumpers and they've all had multiple seasons of higher points seasons. Durant, Karl Malone, Dominique Wilkins, KD, of course Jordan had like 6 seasons where he scored more than LeBrons career high. LeBron played the long game with all his stats and now he's doing it with his season averages by load managing and stat padding, staying in games down by 20p, slacking on defense and collecting garbage buckets. Now he only has to score 1,695 points a season and it looks like he averaged 30ppg cuz he misses like 20 games a season lol

Fun Fact LeBron James has the most loses in the nba Finals since 1979 with 33 out of 55 games played so 22/55 wins -33 loses= 40% what else is 40%??? His Finals series record 4-6!

There was a time after Shaq left that it was Kobe against the entire NBA. That's how good he was. Constant MVP chants in other teams arenas. But the reason these sports analysts started to down grade Kobes accolades was so they could prop up Lebron. I remember when the NBA was trying to hype up a potential Kobe vs Lebron in the finals with the Puppets. Kobe made it to the finals but LeBron was booted by the Celtics. Now the Celtics did beat the Lakers in the finals too with their big 4 in KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo. But the Lakers did come back the following year in 2009 and followed it up with a 2nd championship in 2010. But you can't acknowledge this because it's a mark on lebron who still couldn't make it out the east until he created his own superteam in Miami and then the media expects us to crown lebron as the greatest as if he carried a team all on his own like an alpha. I don't reward guys that look for easy ways to win. I reward guys who never give up and never back down from any challenger and that was Kobe. After Jordan, all people talked about was Kobe. Kobe is the next Jordan or better. Kobe is the best player in the NBA and he was unstoppable. Then all of a sudden it was like ok enough chatter about Kobe. Lets start hyping Lebron. If you keep mentioning Kobe then how are we going to push this weak minded pussy named Lebron who will throw his entire team under the bus when they lose and take all the credit as a solo artist on a team full of stars when they win as the GOAT. These cheerleaders have done such a good job that nthese dumb kids actually bought into it but no. Kobe is and willl forever be better than Lefraud.

Everyone knows lebron was ducking Kobe in 2009 so his image as the next great wouldn’t get ruined. He knew Kobe would’ve beaten and exposed him as the incomplete inferior player in comparison to him. So lebron gave up and got smoked by the Magics. Then Kobe beat that same team in the next round without a superteam or top 75 player…
