One of the most amazing black games in the Catalan was Giri-Wei Yi in this years GCT Poland Rapid and Blitz. Black prevented any queenside pressure from building up and went directly for an attack on the king.
GM Colovic: You deserve a special award for the quality of chess insights you are giving us, on TH-cam and in your newsletter. I am ready to buy your Chessable QGD course -- as soon as it goes on sale ! Thank you and Best wishes from NM Mike Pastore and the guys and gals from the Ithaca Chess Club, in Ithaca, New York, USA.
Thanks a lot, this really means something! Please pass onto my best wishes to all the people from the Chess Club in Ithaca and I'm very happy if I manage to help even a bit with my work here on YT.
Yes, it's not so easy to avoid a lot of theory in the QGD. There are a few attempts to reduce it, like these moves 3/4...a6 or 3/4...h6, but they still have some stuff to learn. That's one of the reasons I proposed this easy QGA in one of my previous videos, as a bonus you also avoid the Catalan. :)
Great stuff! Actually, this video could also be called the anti-anti Dubov Tarrasch treatment. I mean (1d4d5 2c4e6 3Nf3 c5 4.cd ed 5.g3!? Nf6 6.Bg2 Be7!, where only 6.Nc3 cd would lead to the Dubov Tarrasch. It is also great that there are actually similar motives as mentioned in the video after say 7.castles castles 8.Nc3 h6!? 9.dc Bc5 10.Nd4 Nc6 11.Nb3. Lakdawala in his 2023 book on the Tarrasch could recommend nothing better then 6.Bg2 c4 which has the not uninportant drawback that it leads to a different type op game then the Dubov he recommended in that book. So thank you!

Do you have something similar for the QGD normal Nf3 Nc3 ? I felt like the lines in the course had also a lot of theory
