I was having trouble getting accurate rope physics in my VR sim, but that might be more of a lack of knowledge of unity's physics joints on my end

I would like to see how to change the assigned button for grabbing/teleporting in the new XR Controller action-based. I'm still using device based as it allows me to choose the button that I want for various interactions.

@@ValemTutorials hi valem, I'm replying here so there might be a chance for you to see this. I am using XR Interaction Toolkit 2.3.2 and the XR Origin comes with the left and Right Controllers attached. But the controllers are not moving. I have tried to removed them and follow the exact steps in the video but to no avail.

Thank you . This is the first tutorial that has worked for me in Unity 2021. There are so many factors which are being changed or updated it is important to have current tutorials

@@ValemTutorials Yeah, it'd be cool to know more about different uses for hands rather than just "press grip/trigger to grab" or "touch button with pointer finger to interact with button."

i was desperately searching for ar/vr tutorials for an internship project until i stumbled upon this channel, I'm really glad i found u, all the courses i found were paid and expensive as heck($200-$300).

8:20 If you add the XR Interaction Toolkit from the git URL, it will only find the most recent version, such as version 3.x which is incompatible with what is taught in this video. For instance, you won't be able to add the "XR Controller (Action-based)" component because it's deprecated. I was able to use v2.3 and v2.5 and they worked fine with this tutorial. I'm not sure how to get the older versions, but when I just searched it gave me 2.5, but I'm not sure it will continue to do so.

Thank you Valem for this updated tutorial. It's been about 2 years since I last played around with VR in Unity, and I loved your old tutorial, but it is definitely obsolete now.
I mean part of the videos are still working but its definitely hard for beginner to follow something that does not follow exactly what they had :/

The great thing about making VR tutorials is that every time someone comes back to a project after a while it's probably going to break in about 100 ways, and it's almost always easier to just watch your latest tutorial. If it weren't for content creators like you I don't think VR would be nearly as approachable.

If you get any problems connecting your vr headset, for me(i use quest 2) it works with virtual desktop. it costs around 15$ but i think its worth it. its easy to use and doesnt seem to have any problems
you should make a video adding more types of guns and spawnable objects with a menu. You should also add more options in the game menu such as main menu, graphics settings, switch between movement, etc. The last thing would be adding npc bots and explosive barrels and other destroyable objects. Make the npcs have different variations and make them spawnable objects in a spawn menu. I think this would be cool in a sort of long tutorial episode adding onto this series. Planning on using auto hand for the upcoming VR jam. I've used VRIF before, and I like it, but I'm excited to try out auto hand and get first hand experience on the differences.

so something i ran into while following the tutorial is that in XR Plugin Management, i dont have the android icon on the right most tab. Whats there instead i think is an html5 icon. I am wondering if its due to the difference between the unity version (mine is 2022.3.7f1) or need non-free license for the feature?

Thanks for watching Yash. Climbing is interesting I would also want to cover 2 hand interaction even if I did it in the previous series but apparently Unity is working on adding it to Unity XR Toolkit for a future update so I might wait for them to integrate them to do a tutorial. I will see. :D

I've got Meta Quest headset connected with Metalink to my PC. At part 7:17 what actions did you perform inside the VR headset in order to get the view of Unity Main-camera?
I like that he says 'after some time this is what you should see.' Gives me the impression his PC is as slow as mine.

Also note that if you are using a headset through quest link and you cant get the controllers to track, you may need to go in the occulus app on your computer and go to settings, general, openXR runtime, and press set meta quest link as act... it took me all night to figure this out.

One question: can you gave more details how you make the game to play in the headset on play in Unity? It somehow magically works in your video, here however I have the air link working, developer mode, etc... adb devices also shows the connected headset. And still on play I only see the empty Link room... Any suggestions what I might be missing?
try using the link cable run the link before running unity maybe it will work
I have got a fix i've got same problem and the fix is that create the project with template VR and then just go to edit/project settings and go to open XR and in Interaction profiles add to your list the oculus touch device or the controller you have and then save click play and enjoy with the controllers and head

Do you have any ideas why my HTC Vive headset isn't showing what my scene is showing? I set up everything as you showed by 7:00 but my headset still doesn't show anything. Any ideas? I know it will run VR programs since I've run a few, even run other VR programs build in Unity. But for some reason the headset won't show anything when hitting the play button. Any thoughts?

Hello, I have a question. Why does the xr origin I added reset its position on the Y axis after running the scene? I moved its position to the character's head, but after running the scene it changed position.

7:34 I'm making this game on my laptop and when I'm finished, I'll export it as an APK file and sideload it to the quest. Sadly, that means I will not be able to test my game until i'm finished. But, I'm determined to do it! My Game is going to be called Glocks n' Goblins. Basically, swarms of mediveal enemies come at you and you have a powerful sword and a glock to shoot and kill them. there are enough tutorials on youtube to let me accomplish my goal and I am so happy to say that out of all the Unity tutorials on youtube, you have been the easiest to follow. But the French accent can be kinda difficult to understand sometimes, I'm from Canada, so I can pretty much understand it. Thank you again!
