@@roberthudson1959 do you really think babe Ruth was a good outfielder? He might be a good hitter but the best outfielder goes to players who could hit and field at all star levels
@@stonerbellinger8679 From what I have read, Ruth was considered an above-average outfielder. His offensive superiority over his peers is greater than their defensive superiority over him, so I consider him the best rightfielder of all time.
Damn imagine if Seattle brought in Ichiro around 95-99 and Ken Griffey Jr and Ichiro were teammates. 2 gold glove outfielders on the same team; 1 leading off and batting .350; 1 hitting 45+ homers. That would've been insane!
These are two of my favorite players that I've watched. This video just shows how classy both guys are and how much respect they have for each other. Greatness recognizing greatness. I'm a life long Yankees fan and both have done well against them, but doesn't stop me from being a fan of both. And was ecstatic when Yankees got Ichiro for a little while and we got to see how great a player he is even when he wasn't at his peak. Would have loved to have seen Griffey in pinstripes just like his dad was.
So cool seeing the swings matched up. You can tell that they have two different goals in the way they swing: Ichiro knew his job was a leadoff, and to put pressure on the bases hence his emphasis on slapping the ball into the gap. Griffey is all power with a clean follow-through; you know exactly what he’s trying to do. 2 legends and my 2 favourite players.
Ichiro Manifested playing with the Mariners way before him and Griffey first met in 1995. It was embedded into his Brain that he wanted to be just like his Hero Jr.
I might take heat for this, but if I had to choose one of them to be on my team I would choose Ichiro. He has more ways to beat you than any player who has ever played.
I'll give ANYONE $100.00 to see them make this same catch from 3:45 to 3:50...the sun was in his face and he did not know where in the hell the ball could be..but he hit the wall, made the catch and held on!
Ichiro. There’s a lot of players that were like Jr. throughout the history of Baseball, but nobody could do what Ichiro did. Most of the time people will be a hall of famer for excelling at one or two things, or being above average at everything. Ichiro excelled in every aspect of the game except for extra base hits, and even then, it’s been argued that he could easily have become a slugger, but wouldn’t have be as valuable as a lead off batter; he was playing in the steroid era, and there were already too many power hitters, so he perfected his role as lead-off instead.
Kevin C “Ichiro excelled in every aspect of the game except for extra base hits”. Griffey excelled in every aspect of the game period. There was nothing he didn’t do well. Seattle so lucky to have the 2 greatest outfielders to ever play
Two great outfielders, but have you ever heard of Willie Mays and George Ruth?

Robert Hudson you’re considered the best at your position as long as you can field and hit that’s what I think at least

I could not agree more. KGJ was a terrific player, but Ichiro? He was the world's skinniest beast!
It's a wash for me. But I'll lean towards Ichiro as well. However, if Jr. Did not have injury issues, he would have destroyed records lol.
I would pick ichiro just based on longevity...
I love Ichiro but prime Griffey Jr. all the way. Golden glove, mvp, 50 hr... If they could have played together from the start...
Let alone Ichiro’s bunting and base stealing...
I WAS STUNNED WHEN I SAW THIS VIDEO I HAD NO IDEA KGJR MET ICHIRO PRIOR TO 2001 🤯🤯🤯 ITS LIKE HE WAS PASSING THE TORCH TO ICHIRO

Seattle mariners will always
be my team and griffey jr and
Ichiro will always be the greatest of all-time
Makes me sad they didn't play that whole decade together.
Seattle made a mistake in keeping Arod over Griffey. Griffey would have had better chemistry with Ichiro and wouldn't upset any team balance.
The kid and ichiro, wish they played together with arod too, put down 200 RBI for JR and maybe best 2-3-4 hitters ever, we can only imagine. Myo my
