I am a flutist myself and i do not agree. He is a bit like James Galway, his sound is to light in my opinion. For me Berdien Stenberg is the best flutist ever.
WeAreEnglishCubers That means you know sfa about oboe. Better to keep your mouth shut and draw suspicion of being a fool, rather than opening it and removing all doubt.
Holy moley, the way EP makes that low register speak, and the ravishing subtle vibrato...so lovely. Of course, I could play like that too if I had me wunna them gold flutes 🤣 It's good to see a world class flutist holding the lip plate more parallel with the line of the lower lip instead of at a pronounced angle. A million years ago one of my flute teachers tried to get me to adopt that tilt but it always felt horribly unnatural. It seems like I'm seeing more brilliant flutists playing that way than ever, and if it works for them, who can argue.
Emmanuel Pahud is obviously one of, if not the most recognisable flautists this world has to offer. You could search whatever kind of classical, romantic, impressionist and what have you piece without seeing Pahud in one of the performances absolutely killin' it. Recently I have gotten quite attached to his absolute mastery of the flute, and he is my first and absolute recommendation to flautists wanting to listen to performances this guy has done. Never in my nine years of playing (mind you I started when I was eight and didn't have any true motivation to do what I love now until when I was around fifteen or sixteen) have I been more devoted to hearing someone like Pahud. I don't think I would have improved as much as I have if it wasn't for actually listening and watching some of his masterclass sessions.
the oboe playing here by Albrecht Meyer is equally as beautiful to the flute and clarinet solos. The oboe uses less air, but it is flowing through a smaller bore, which causes different facial expressions. You obviously needed this information so you can make more informed comments in the future. We are not always afforded the close up camera shots of the players.
These great performers are Alchemists of Faure‘s music This performance they play with exquisite skill and incomparable technique is beyond description , immeasurable , unfathomable and full of admiration
Pague does it in a way that really touches me. It’s not just technique, or talent or whatever... it’s a deep understanding of character, musicality and interpretation
I have played the flute for 36 years and have never come across this melody until I saw the film Mr. Nobody (2009). - even though I know Faure from my studies as a composer in college.
Beautiful. I chose this for my Mum’s funeral as she loved classical music and inspired me in music and singing. My own favourite of Faure is still La Sicilienne though.
Crying too in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! I think we are the 2 most recent posts on this page. All this emotion in the time of Covid-19. October 20, 2020.
This fabulous orchestra is aggregate of Alchemists of Faure ’s music This masterpiece invigorates the human spirit There is something extraordinary in their incomparable performance . From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
After reading The Premonition series by Amy Bartol, I wanted to hear Reed’s song to Evie. Reed is an arc angel and had seen and heard Gabriel Fauré. (Fiction) what a beautiful piece this is.
who could not like this?
Pahud's sheer control is amazing
i dislike the video because it gets cut off mid phrase at the end. the performance it documents is extraordinary
The best first flute and oboe in the world!
Thank You
Pahud is brilliant as ever, and the orchestra is wonderful!
I'd like to declare that Pahud has become one of the finest flutists in the world.
And I don't have to say extreme goodness of Berlin Phil.

1%qqlll,
Pahud is loving this
I love how Pahud looks so relaxed and the oboist looks like he's got stomach cramps.
+WeAreEnglishCubers Try oboe and you'll understand why :)

Isn't that Albrecht Mayer? His playing brings me to tears.
Just fantastic...I like everything about this performance. I think Faure would be thrilled if he heard it...
I love this little piece so deeply.
Just loved the bassoon too ... Delightful.
Grandi solisti e mirabile concertazione direttoriale, per una musica di superba ed intima raffinatezza...
May have found a new favorite recording of this piece
Nostalgic... and beautiful...

Una maravilla de Fauré. Sublime Pahud, como siempre.

Nostalgia...so soft it hurts...
How many times I've listened Pavane. But it's evergreen. A real starshine on classic's sky. My respects to the musicians. Regards from India.
Really very peaceful melody. ❤❤❤
so beautiful and exquisite! Keep listening again and again!! The sound is compact yet full
Amazing. Thanks again for sharing this with the world!
I ❤️ this interpretation! The softness is miraculously accomplished...
Faure + Pahud = Brilliance

Thanks a bunch for this calming classic music.🇷🇺
Merveilleuse musique et merveilleuse interprétation. C'est magique !
I have played the flute for 36 years and have never come across this melody until I saw the film Mr. Nobody (2009). - even though I know Faure from my studies as a composer in college.
Only Matheiu Dufour’s Pavane is comparable to this performance. They are both treasures of the world.
Thank you for playing a good performance.
Beautiful. I chose this for my Mum’s funeral as she loved classical music and inspired me in music and singing. My own favourite of Faure is still La Sicilienne though.
Nice to watch something on it's inaugural upload day. And yes, I remember well where I was 50 years ago.
So beautiful it made me cry

The wonderfulness and comfort are off the charts
Faure is a great Alchemist of the soul
These spectacular performers is an order of magnitude
and this is another reason why Pahud is my favorite flautist on earth
And Albrecht Mayer is my favorite oboist!
Какая потрясающая музыка и исполнение!
très belle version de ce morceau d'anthologie de Gabriel Fauré, avec beaucoup de subtilité. Flute sublime.

It's easy to tell that Bill Evans loved classical music. Yes I noticed Mr Pahud.
I agree with you. The marvelous Jazz pianist Bill Evans played this tune beautifully.
