Back in the 80's I worked the 4pm to 12am shift and on the way home WFLN Philadelphia would have their show "Sleepers Awake" and play Faure's Pavane as their theme song. I'm hearing it now for the first time since then and it brought me to tears thinking of how good things were back then. I really miss those days...
When I was in highschool, decades ago, I would bring my radio into bed with me and listen to WFLN classical music station. And at midnight every single night they ended the show with Faure's Pavane. Then I knew I had to go to sleep.
Shit man, Me too! I would call in and Mark Pinto would pick up the phone and I would make requests!!!!! The one WFLN played on air was the Charles Dutoit one th-cam.com/video/jN9chPQa7Os/w-d-xo.html
I am Gen Z, and when my mom showed me this song, near the end of it I started to cry from how amazing this song was and still is. I might not be older, but classical music has always spoken to me as a form of art by itself, and in any generation, it is always amazing to listen to!
@@hrh4961 i am a composer myself and a very well visited one as well. But idc about stupid fancy words when i'm (or someone else) is asking for a "SONG" in a TH-cam COMMENT SECTION or in real life. No need to put others down. I am glad they are showing interest and we should appreciate that instead of being arrogant.
This used to be the song the TV stations played late at night before they went off the air and I sat up just to hear its sad haunting tune many times. Love it.
Back around the early 1970, after all TV programming was over (the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson) and after playing the national anthem, they would play this before the test pattern. It was incredibly sad and I thought "they should play this at my funeral." I was maybe 18. I haven't though about that for decades.
This music was included in a radio ("Classical music") in the Fallout 76 game from Bethesda Studios. Their taste in the music that they included in that channel is impeccable and this one is one of the best in there. I listen to this every single day 🙂
I learned this on the piano as a teen, LOVED it, don’t play now but wow I love this orchestral version, so moving. ❤ I love strings as a former violinist too.
I just heard a piano roll of Faure himself playing this as a piano solo for Welte-Mignon, and it's even faster than this!!! To me it sounds almost more like a "new romantic" or "new age" piece from the 1980s (i e rock influeneced) than something from the 1880s! And I am not putting it down at all... when I heard this roll (the first time I ever heard this piece), my jaw hit the floor... here is music 100 years ahead of its time!!!
I've loved this since hearing it on an old horror film called the monster club. It had loads of great bands on it, the pretty things, ub40, BA robertson, and a few others.
The first time I listened this song was a few months ago when I had nothing to listen on Spotify and I picked a random classic hits playlists so I found this beautiful song. I love it, great performance! Greetings from Portland, Oregon 🇺🇸
@@camilmoujaber4813 There are many versions of this _"Pavane"_ , some of them being written by Fauré himself for solo singer or choir. For instance, this one, for choir and reduced orchestra (cellos only !) : th-cam.com/video/2-QTEvYP-J0/w-d-xo.html
Oh shit I feel like such a goober hearing that flute come in. I've been listening to the Jethro Tull Christmas album version of this for years and it's one of my favorite pieces from my childhood and JUST NOW discovering this composer realizing this was one of his lol
Hello!. Very nice perfomence. I have an ask: I have made a program about Faure's Pavane in Armenian language for my youtube channel and want to put a perfomence. I searched and stayed on your video. Can I use this performence in my video by mentioning your channel link and ensemble name, please?
Am I the only one who finds similarities between this work of a couple of centuries ago and "Across the Stars" (Love Theme) - Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones I don't know, I at least find similarities.

classical music is for everyone, no matter what age or background someone has 🤍
Why do the musical illiterati refer to every form of musical composition as a "song"?

Well you're in luck because this song / piece / whatever is in the set list for last night of the proms this Saturday night 😊😊😊😊😊😊
This is one of my all time favorites because I really feel like it incites almost every possible human emotion in a relatively short piece.

comment ne pas aimer ce moment de grâce qui nous emmène au delà de la platitude de notre pauvre vie .
I am playing this amazing song in my symphony and it is truly magnificent. We just got it today and I already know it was a keeper
I get tears in my eyes every time I listen to this. I really have to book a meeting with my eye doctor.

Fauré's Pavane also pus me to tears!
A beautiful; Impressionist/Early 20th century piece, which still holds up today.
19th century. 1887.
静謐で美しくエレガント、パートと全体のバランスの良さ。この演奏は私の心を絹のベールの様に包みこむ。至福の時をありがとう!
In 1984, I played this with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Orchestra in Europe. This tour included Paris.
One of the iconic melodies from the pen of Faure. Very beautiful and moving; very well executed!
Lovely lovely lovely. Great to hear from the dedicated artists.
Una de las mas bellas melodias del lmpresionismo frances.Ejecucion, ternura musical que se introduce en el alma.

This is my favourite piece from that era
Beautiful, so delicate, perfect tempo.
There's slightly lower tempos which can seem even more beautiful.

The dark-haired lady flautist (I assume) at the end, and throughout just makes it on the spots where nuance carries. Just love her work.

i ask myself when I hear that song;
what sort of times do we live in now?
answer: timelessness...very few things in life make you feel this way.
Absolument magnifique, merci ! 🎶👏🌷
Beautiful and delicate. Wonderful performance.
With all of my love💙🎼🎻🌻
You are awesome and your performance is just perfect keep going 👍🌸
I LOVE AVROTOS. I LOVE Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
@1:39 what a great moment when flutes 1 & 2 with 1 oboe come in, strengthened with by strong single French horn.
Beautifully tender and caressing.
Salute
What a nice sound from 1st horn!
beautiful

@1:29 that beautiful solo bassoon in its glorious register competing with almost the entire strings taking the lead.

Nice! I like this version more than the flashy video productions by Berlin
Phil (both orchestra and cello ensemble)... This group plays more together!

Well done
Sublime, and an invite to the pastoral.

Astounding, thank you! Did a clarinet come in at approx 6::21? Could not see the clarinetist, thank you again.
