Since my early youth, this is one of my favourites. What is better than Karajan and the Berliner Philharmoniker. I met Karajan at his house in the Salzburg area and frequently at my work at Basel, Switzerland. Nevertheless, I could tell the reader some episodes as well.
I heard this piece yesterday live, it was an amazing experience, the entire symphony, but especially the last movement is extremely epic, but when you hear it live, it's even more epic and unforgettable.

2:13 to 2:48 is some of the most beautiful music ever composed IMHO. As Beethoven said, ''music should strike fire from the heart of a man, and bring tears to the eyes of a woman''. I think this accomplishes that beautifully.

@Ayala I think it's a transfer problem. This was most probably a magnetic tape recording, and when the speed of the tape is played too fast during transfer, the pitch gets higher. The reverse also applies when the tape is played too slow, the pitch becomes lower.

I make this video to be at about 162 beats per second, about 15 percent faster than the normal approx 142 bps that the great orchestras actually perform it at. Actually, it's sped up a little. The real time speed should be a little slower.
It is 1/2 step higher than the natural key, due to an old recording proclivity. And thus faster.
