It makes me want to vomit looking at all the money , time and resources invested into these useless apes yet we still have homeless vets battling PTSD, hungry children who need a home, families living in their cars, etc. We sure have our priorities messed up as a country. What an absolute waste and for what? Chimps are vile disgusting creatures. Incredibly violent and dangerous, dont forget that fact.

If you haven't been to Chimp Haven, you should definitely make the time to go. I have been to their Discovery Days and participated in Chimp Chat & Chew twice and will definitely be going again. What they do at this facility is so wonderful and to have the chance to see these magnificent animals up close in a more natural environment is not to be missed! The staff is great, friendly and eager to share information and stories about the chimps. I can't wait until my grand babies are old enough to visit!

With all the millions of people around the world who are suffering and in desperate need of resources like food, medicine, shelter, mental health services, etc. Why do we continue to waste valuable resources on a bunch of useless apes? This is a total waste and a horrible example of screwed up priorities. These resources should be shifted towards hungry children and families. The nerve you people have amazes me. If you can't afford to care for these disgusting creatures euthanize them .

Too bad we aren't that concerned with the facilities that orphans and foster children love in . @@ChristyHeath-hd4or The only thing screwed up is your head...just who is "we"? The chimps and those taking care of them have nothing to do w the conditions human orphans have to deal with, which falls on state,federal,and/or local authorities...And did u miss the part about where these chimps have been in labs being tested on for the sake of humans? I sure hope so bc if this is all the empathy you can shop these animals, then I SERIOUSLY doubt your now seemingly ingenuine concern for human orphans. Yeah, what a shame..you said it.

@@dorothytemple4195 I suspect in prisons, there would be lots of volunteers for these tests (so no animals required anyway). For example, you can have a TV for you cell - if you volunteer - albeit with restricted channels.
If a woman has to wait 5 extra years for a new makeup composition - because no animal testing is allowed - so be it. Human race with so little compassion towards other species, that animal testing would be allowed, is really not a human race (that any of us should be proud of).
And I believe that applies even to testing of medicines. We have no right to use primates in any testing, period; find other means: use cockroaches, even designer mice if you absolutely have to (but guaranteeing 'no suffering').

If they've done one good thing that's it. So please just stop your crying they're all going to be fine these chimpanzees are living better than some humans we have homeless and homeless veterans it don't even have a roof over their head so just take it somewhere else all the money that was spent to build these places was privately donated if you don't want to give then don't but you have zero right to tell others what they can do with her own money.

This is beautiful and sad at the same time. The people who did research should be locked up for years and have tests done on them. There is another video (don't think it's the same place) where chimps were released after years and when they came out they looked up at the sun and were amazed. Some even hugged each other. They were scared but you could see they were happy too. It breaks my heart. In this day and age there should be an alternative to all animal testing.

These chimps are not from "companies". They are from the National Institute of health, a government organization. The NIH pays for 75% of their care and the rest is from private donations. The NIH could have simply euthanized them but they made the choice to send them to a sanctuary instead. Many of the vaccines you receive today were developed by testing on chimps. I think it is a pretty neat thing that the US has realized this testing is no longer needed and trying to make up the wrongs we did to them. There is no corporate greed involved..

From what I have seen, which hopefully is not out of context propaganda from activist groups. The conditions and treatment of research animals has largely been deplorable. Chimp Haven really does seem like the best possible way try to make right what we humans have done to these amazing animals. I only wish there weren’t so many starving, homeless, mentally ill and suffering people in our country that could use the money and efforts of people who want to make a difference in the world. Shouldn’t they be our priority? There’s so much need in the world and it is hard to know what to do. I guess the answer is to just do something.

@@joesurfer9754 chimps are immune against the Aids and Hepatitis virus and they are the closest relative (98,4%) to humans. They infect them with the virus and research why it not breaks out at them. The main reason is some small distinctions at the immune system proteins.
Great Apes (ca.700 chimps 2017) only used by US companies and universities for this kind of research, because they are to expensive. For cosmetics or drugs they use other not so expensive animal.
Chimphaven do also research with this chimps, but only ethology from chimps who grow up without parenting and any contact in isolation. Most of the money they become from the companies/universities who "use" this chimps before.
In Austrian near Vienna we have also a farm like this for 34 chimps build by the pharma company who use the chimps before. Since 1997 the chimps live there and the Austrian company still pay for there fostering.
In Europe it's forbidden to use great apes for labour research since 15-20 years. The US is sadly the last official country who use great apes for research.

What an absolute obsecene waste of valuable resources on a bunch of useless apes that should have been euthanized a long time ago.. in these times with homeless vets, struggling families with hungry children, and many people in need if the basic necessities, this is an incredibly stupid waste of money. I hope my tax dollars aren't paying for this bullshit! I would rather see children nourished and enriched than these vile disgusting creatures. Screwed up priorities people!!! SMH givr them to our military for target practicing! Don't be fooled people these are very dangerous violent animals!

Let the companies who benefit financially from the torture of innocent animals pay for the care into retirement!
Shameful begging from average folks wont solve this issue!
Write to your congress, local businesses in your area that use test subject animals for profit and put social pressure on them!

Chimps are such vile disgusting creatures. They love to make these violent dangerous beasts out to be these harmless playful animals just like us. The TRUTH is these animals are incredibly violent and dangerous and have known to eat people alive. I'll rejoice the day they are extinct!!! The earth would be a better place. With all the human suffering and desperate human need out there, this seems to be such an enormous waste of valuable resources. When we can get our homeless vets with PTSD taken care of, then we can worry about these Chimps supposed" PTSD. Pfffff. SMH

How many champs is it now that are suffering with infection so bad from injuries because the veterinarian staff does not have a clue on what they're doing.. how many days was it during the pandemic that the entire facility was empty of caregivers

Would someone please take the time to train your staff (be it paid or volunteer) how to lift properly? Ive had seven spine surgeries and my spine was damaged by improper heavy lifting. I don't want anybody to have to become disabled like I am.

I know that the chimps are desexed for obvious reasons but I wonder if they ever get frustrated or confused by not been able to get pregnant? If they're so similar to humans and often feel the same emotions and are so intelligent I wonder if its something they think about or discuss amongst the group

    • @BobbedMcBob
      @BobbedMcBob 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Maurice Palmer you must be very young to be confused about these things. They aren’t “de-sexed”, either. They are probably “neutered”, meaning they’ve had surgery to prevent them producing sperm (males), and the females have surgery to prevent them from “ovulating”, or producing a microscopic egg that is the thing that, when mixed with sperm, could grow into one of the same type creature as the parents. Chimps are pretty smart, but they cannot “discuss” things intellectually. And I don’t think they would feel sad or depressed because they didn’t have a baby.
