Research Chimp "Captain Kirk" Transported to Sanctuary

- After 34 years in research, chimpanzee Kirk and his nine group mates from the lab had their first chance to go outside into a forest at the Project Chimps sanctuary in the Blue Ridge Mountains. After lives in the lab, many research chimps are afraid to step outside. The forest seems like a big, scary place and even dirt can be unfamiliar. Kirk is a strong alpha chimp, hence his nickname "Captain Kirk." But would he be strong enough to lead his group outside? Watch as this special day unfolds for Kirk and his group mates Greg, Rusty, Tibi, Armond, Luke, Justin, Rocko, Maverick and Neal.

I'm so ashamed to be a human sometimes! This was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time! It's so sad it took that many years to finally free them from their imprisonment and torture at the hands of sadistic people!!

Animals are not things. They are beings. The very reason they're treated this way is because people view them as things.
ANIMALS are not things.. but I used the word things to cover all Gods living things..NOT just animals... but all living things.. for example a BEE is not an animal... but still its being destroyed by humans... fish... trees. plants.. ect.. so yes I meant things in that since... and your comment explains to me you see a picture... but its really not the BIG PICTURE.

They look amazing and they interact really well. Animals are unbelievably good at recovering. I'm happy for the old boys.

It really is a crime the way the pharmaceutical industry uses not only humans as guinea pigs, but incarcerates animals to use them for research. If somebody did the same thing to a dog they would rightfully go to prison. But primates? And the vaccines just add major insult to injury, because the vaccines are dangerous, too.

@@raz1980. - But what to do? The ones returned to Liberia in Africa are currently starving on some little island with no caregivers. That is even worse treatment than this.
@@raz1980. What else can they do with them? They cannot survive in the wild at this point. They've been locked in small cages and used for medical testing their entire lives. Now that that's done and over with, someone has to take care of them. They will live well here.
@@raz1980. they don't have the abilities to survive in wild. Watch Chimp Haven. That Show is really interesting and Jane Godall Does her job nicely. She Saved lots of Apes from Labs. And they teach Apes skills in Chimp Haven.

I missed the info about what sort od research was done on them before I real8zed there was no audio. But if they are like human beings for the results on them to be valid, I question the ethics of doing it on them.

We are all guilty ! We have all bought products that have been tested on animals.. this clip warms my heart.
This is so heartbreaking I'm not sure I'll get through it. Bless the angels on Earth who do the work to free these imprisoned, tortured animals. I pray they live a life where they know love and company's m compassionate touch from this day forward--however much they have left of it.

I can't believe the government didn't stop this testing practice before 2015. It was cruel and inhumane. It reminds me of the movie Project X with Helen Hunt & Matthew Broderick.
Factory farming is cruel and inhumane but I'm assuming you support that unless you're vegan.
There are still furniture and clothing stores with the skins of dead animals. This is only one example of how humans enslave and abuse our cousins in fur, feather, and scales.

Look how long it took for the ban of killing dolphins & whales in the 🇺🇸 United States. I'm not a vegan. I enjoy a good steak now & then, but not from endangered animals. We need to be more aware of what every generation has done to this planet. Not just the animals but the oceans, mountains, rain forests. Air pollution! Think about it, please.
