    One of my favourite things about younger reactors seeing this for the first time is they all freak out at a skull and a guy seemingly hanging himself right at the start and all seem to say "I thought this was a kids movie!"
    The 80's were a different time

    • @WolfPlaysGames2
      @WolfPlaysGames2 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      In the 80s, they didn't have the internet where you could look up every detail of whether the movie was 'appropriate' for your kids. Often the rating system was less stringent, too. Even if a movie was R or PG13 (which only started in 1984), we still didn't know if the rating came from sexual content, violence, or just language. All you had was hints from the trailer, so often kids would see things that their parents didn't intend. Kids we're also more jaded. We saw plenty of dead bodies and violence on TV.

    Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk, became a lawyer and negotiated the contract for Ke Huy Quan‘s Academy Award winning role in „Everything Everywhere All At Once“, which is why Ke thanked him in his acceptance speech, and I believe he ended with „Goonies never die“.
    Most of the child actors seem to have stayed in contact and were very happy for him winning.
    Ke‘s parents didn‘t allow him to swear, which is why he says „holy S-H-I-T“.
    The dead body was one of Steven Spielberg‘s go-to stuntmen, and can be seen, e.g., in E.T. when the kids on bikes drive over the police car.
    The audio commentary on the DVD is very interesting, because it occasionally shows the actors together with the director, and they really managed to get all the former child actors together, but Sean Astin had to leave early.
    Someone mocked the special effects of Mikey lining up the doubloon with the landscape: „Mr. Donner you mad Superman fly, what‘s up with this bluescreen?“

    Just to let you know about the pirate ship: We saw it drifting out to sea at movie's end, but it didn't actually stay out there. I haven't read it personally, but according to Wiki, the novelization of the film goes into more detail about the aftermath of the Goonies' adventures.
    Because it was a danger to commercial shipping, Willy's ship was eventually brought to shore by the U.S. authorities -- along with all the treasure on board. And from that point on, the Goonies' happy ending got even happier, if you can believe it!
