My late paternal grandfather use to sail the great lakes as Merchant Seaman whom travelled the globe 🌎 from his original Ĺiverpool UK, his stories went the river Liffey was a sewer, his parents homeland.
He even travelled to far away lands like Australia 🇦🇺 but settled as a family man in New Zealand 🇳🇿 where his younger brother by ten years was laying under sea cables in the south pacific.
A maritime family 👪 generation after generation.
Love your railfanning channel and several others in Ohio. ❤
Great to escape ones own country tò see the wide world.
Haven't travelled abroad for 30 years in my youth, thanks for the narration 😂

Nice cathces! How many (iron ore) trains are there on the line per day?

On a daily basis there is one iron ore train that will run, once south and once north.

      Thank you very much!
So, this is the same daily traffic like the W&LE has between Rook Yard and Connellsville in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Makes no sense why they reversed after pulling out of the EMSCO switch, and then changed direction once more to head down to Wallace Junction. Why didn't they just proceed right down to Wallace after they came out of EMSCO siding?
I remember when they spread the rails on the EMSCO siding, some time in the late 90s. They were stranded there for a little while before getting rerailed.
I also remember when there was a little shack down at Wallace Jct, with a couple of windows and a small desk inside. And a big "WALLACE JUNCTION" sign attached to the side. No idea what that shack was used for, but I imagine train orders or something. Wallace used to be much busier back when Bessemer hauled 90-car trains through Girard.
Definitely my greatest Bessemer memory was watching the Nickel Plate steam excursion pull through Girard. When my friends and I heard the steam whistle, we hopped on our BMXes and pedaled our hearts out to catch it.

Oh, also... My next-door neighbors were the EMSCO owners.
