2017 Buick LaCrosse Unboxing - A More Expensive Chevrolet Impala?

  • Today's unboxing review has great expectations within the Buick lineup, the completely redesigned 2017 LaCrosse. If you're looking for the most expensive Buick sedan on sale today, this is it. For the record, this is the third-generation LaCrosse and it's now built on the same platform that underpins the current Chevrolet Impala. Classified as a large sedan, the new LaCrosse isn't for everyone. In fact, Buick is anxious to permanently ditch its "old man" image and the LaCrosse does its best to attract younger buyers. Question is, it may not be "youthful" enough.
    Our tester was the top-end Premium trim, powered by a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 hp and 282 lb-ft of torque. Power goes directly to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Want all-wheel drive? You can get it for an extra $3,000 but it's only offered on the Premium trim. Design wise, the new LaCrosse is an attractive sedan inside and out. However, we have one major interior complaint: the center console is simply too high up, making the driver feel kind of boxed in. Aside from that, the 2017 LaCrosse is a fine premium sedan, but we're still left wondering whether a less expensive Impala may still be the better overall value. Enjoy the review!

    Just so you know, this is not based on the Impala. The 2017 Lacrosse rides on GM's P2XX platform (the first GM car to do so) which is a longer and wider version of the E2XX which the 16-17 Malibu uses. The Impala, even the 2017 model, rides on the older Epsilon II platform.

    Love that front end. Just wish the AWD was offered on lower trims. The big GM sedans are fantastic these days.

      Mike Dubiansky That and materials used inside and features really set this apart from the Impala.

      It's great that automakers now care more about rear end styling. This way drivers will have something fancier to look at when stuck in slow-moving traffic.

    In spiritual way it is, but in my opinion the design is better, the plastic are soft to the touch in overall is better (But prefer Kia Cadenza)

      You know, it's funny how a Kia is now being preferred over a Buick. Many never thought that day would come. It has.

    The Buick LaCrosse is safer than the Chevrolet Impala, so I would buy the LaCrosse. In fact, the LaCrosse received a Top Safety Pick, however the Impala did not.

    • @vegasbab.y3740
      @vegasbab.y3740 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      First Last the being why it’s not as safe as it’s last one is because it’s not heavier, the last gen was heavier and did stop a big suv, it went a lane over, and did very well and did not roll over or spin

      @@legpad5857 the Buick LaCrosse beat the Lexus ES is almost every comparison test since it was introunced in 2010 era. It has a very good ride quality one that I miss in my current 2018 Cadillac CT6.

    Stop brainwashing us by saying this is a big full size car. This car in no bigger inside than a MID SIZE car from the 60's. Give me the interior space of a 1968 real full size Buick....

    • @carbuzzcom
      @carbuzzcom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I didn't realize I have brainwashing powers. I'm awesome. Wait, you're comparing a 2017 Buick to one of its 1960s ancestors?? Really? That's like comparing a smartphone to an old phone with a cord and rotary dial. Makes no sense.

      @paulcheek5711 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My parents owned Buick's in the early 70' and I can tell you these are a heel of a lot nicer.

    • @passion830217
      @passion830217 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is more like a mid-size. Whereas, the impala is a real full size which is higher, has more legroom, and larger trunk.
