My MIL has dementia, a lil different than Grandpa. She struggles with psych problems and can be violent. I'm her caregiver and love her with all my heart. Thank you Danielle for showing bright spots in dementia. Even giving me ideas and activities to do with mom. It can be so hard on the family too. It definitely took a toll on my whole family having her live with us. She seemed to target me the most but would occasionally go after my husband too but never my daughter but it still affected her to see Nana behave and talk like she did to me. Hang in there it’s a tough job.
You handled the situation perfectly with a soft, sweet voice and redirected Ed successfully. I could hear you singing ‘Isn’t it ironic?’ as you explained to Ed that you were his caregiver. Much love & wishes for a good day ahead!

My 96 year old father in law (with memory issues) also hears noises, even voices when no one is around. We have cameras set up to watch him if we are not at the house and he actually will call out to people when he hears a noise or a "voice". It is part of the dementia/Alzheimer that the doctors told us about. Sometimes he "sees" people and will try to interact with them but no one is there. It is kind of spooky at times.
I have no idea why but I love watching these videos on both you and your husband's channel and I'm a 34 year old guy 😂 Grandpa seems like a good person and like he raised a good family. My grandma had dementia so I somewhat know the struggles, although she never lived with us.

My dad 'Ed' started memory problems 3-4 yrs ago and it quickly escalated to dementia. He just passed on Oct 8th 2023 and watching Ed's video's are pure love❤ heartwarming for me. TY for showing a miniscule part of his life & especially how sad & frustrating it can be. 🙏
He looks at you like you are taking advantage of him, your pets all over the house, your son living upstairs…it seems like he doesn’t realize it’s your house & that you’re his family. He also seems like he doesn’t have a very high opinion of construction work either.

Danielle, no offense because I mean this as a compliment, dealing with Grandpa Ed has made you more patient and softer as a person than when he first came to live with you and Dan! He too has come to regard you more affectionately!
When my father was hospitalized battling his terminal stage of cancer, he also heard noises in his room and he insisted on going home, although his vitals were very bad. Ultimately, we granted his wish to go home, and he died peacefully two days after that.
It's so cute, when he asked "who hired you?" then laughed. The expression on his face was like, yeah, right, I hired you? 😊
