    I would absolutely sign on for this class, if I weren't so far away lol. I currently have four Slashes, one Raptor, one set up for Mudboss, one for 13.5 Mudboss, one for Street Stock, oh, and one Rustler. Oh, and two Nitro Rustlers! I've never been any good at off road, having started racing in 1991. So I have quite a collection, mostly for oval. Haven't raced in a couple of years, and I don't have a bandit, sooooo.... 😁

    I think a rear motor 2wd buggy class would be really cool, with an additional restriction to 4 gear transmission and perhaps no brass/steel (weighted) parts in the front of the car. Something to really force that old style of driving. I bet it wouldn't be too crazy hard for people to do conversion kits for the b6 platform.

    • @8BWN
      @8BWN ปีที่แล้ว

      I absolutely love the 2wd stampede!!! But I'm not sure if short track racing is where that truck needs to be. I really want to start a true low buck 2wd 2S monster truck race series with track setups from the Penda and TNT days of monster truck racing in arenas and fairgrounds. 6 to 8 scale sized simple folding ramps that can be set up on concrete/truff/dirt/ or wherever. For a short track racing, I'd stick with a truggy/rustler chassis.

    Could anyone telle me what 17 turn means with a brushed motor? Never asked it before and im curioy

    • @dwbv00
      @dwbv00 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      17turn in brushed is the number of copper windings wrapped around the commutator of the motor. There's also single, double, and triple wind. What that means is, for example: A "17turn double" is 2 copper wires wrapped around the comm. 17 times. Now single winds are more torgue, double winds are a little less torque good all around motor and triple winds are more RPM based. There's also hand wound and machine wound motors. Machine wound are cheaper and easily mass produced. Which is typically what you'll find at your LHS or on-line retailer. Hand wound motors are exactly that.....wound by hand by a experienced person. The hand wound motors offer the best performance, but will cost more than a typical machine wound. Hope that helps your understanding of brushed motors. 👍👍

      @@dwbv00 but does that also mean that a certain amount of turns is "better" than the other?

    • @dwbv00
      @dwbv00 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@duncandehulst2016 not necessarily. Depends on application. All turns and windings have their place. We used to race 27 turn motors as a class. Now in a open parking lot....a 27 turn motor is slow compared to a 17 turn. So the lower the number, IE : 19, 17, 15 turns the more RPMs the motor will produce. However, they don't offer the torque of a higher turn motors like 27, or 20 turn. Now.... this whole conversation is based on a 540 size can motors. When you go to a 550 can size motor, they offer more torque than the same 540 size motor with the same amount of winds "turns". Also 550 size motors have to be lower turns to get the same RPM per volt as it's 540 size cousin. I'd also like to add that that there's also 3 slot and 5 slot armatures as well. 5 slot motors offer smoother startup compared to a 3 slot. Most people who do RC crawling with brushed motors use a 550 can size in a 5 slot. Holmes Hobbies makes some very good brushed motors for crawling. In this brushless age I don't know if you still can get a modern old school hand wound 3 slot 540 can size motor for off-road buggies or trucks. Most companies use brushed motors and ESCs just due to keeping the cost down. However, once you go brushless, everything just gets better. Another thing I'd like to add about brushed motors is maintenance. Having to spray them out with a cleaner and re-oil the bushings is important. Back in the day of rebuildable brushed motors for racing we were able to take them apart and true the commutator. (Like turning brake rotors on a car.). Installing new brushes and aligning the brush hoods. This is some old school stuff I'm talking about here...lol! But anyways, I hope that gives more information and helps answer any questions about brushed motors.
