Being married means to forget self and give all the love you have to your spouse and children. It means giving up a life free of concern for others except those you choose to be concerned about. We married early in life. I do not feel as if I missed anything. I had 2 daughters and had 3 granddaughters and now have a great granddaughter. We celebrated our 50th anniversary last November. Paul never married either. He did not want a wife and kids keeping him from preaching the Word everywhere. Imagine a family who has no breadwinner and spends most of his time in prison.

We were married 34 years and lived together 38 years. He was my whole world.
Then, In July/August 2017, my husband and I were diagnosed with cancer within 3 weeks of each other. He had bladder cancer and I had colon cancer. Statistics favored his survival over mine. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
He had a type of bladder cancer you don’t survive. He probably got it when serving his country in Vietnam in an area where they dumped Agent Orange-the same place he was awarded the United States Air Force Medal of Honor.
I brought him home with Hospice’s help 2 days later.
His son (my stepson)our daughter-in-law and grandkids all came over Easter Weekend. As they were saying goodbye Sunday night to fly home to OK, he whispered a private message in each of their ears.
Not 10 minutes after they left, he slipped into a very deep sleep. He slightly woke a bit Tuesday evening and told me he loved me. For the first time since I brought him home, I fell asleep in the bedroom and slept the whole night. I normally sat by his bed and dozed off and on.
When I woke and realized I slept too long, I ran to the hospital bed. He was gone. My Knight, my hero, my best friend, the love of my life passed away 4/4/2018.
Two years and 2 months later I can’t imagine a life with another man. Sometimes, I can’t imagine the rest of the week without him. But I carry on because I know that’s what he wanted. He wanted me to be strong.
Congrats to her finding love again. I hope I do one day-but I can’t imagine that right now.

I had the same symptoms in 2007, I had Pancreatitis and jaundice, they checked me for cancer but didn't have it, they took my gallbladder out. Back in 2018 i was diagnosed with Invasive Ductile carcinoma breast cancer.. my husband seems to think social media is more important than me... sad in south Carolina

It helped a good deal that her new hubby is rich! Lisa was horrible to Patrick’s family after Patrick’s death. His brother Don bitterly complained that Lisa kept the family away from Patrick during most of his illness!

I was in surgery within 2 weeks of diagnosis to have a couple feet of my colon and some of my lymph nodes removed. Honestly, I had been trying to get a colonoscopy that I had in early 2016 repeated because I was still having problems. Thankfully, we had moved and my new doctor didn’t hesitate to schedule me for another colonoscopy. My cancer was stage 2.
In bladder cancer, the patient under goes chemo before the bladder is removed and lymph nodes are checked. He finished all of his chemo like a champ! Surgery was scheduled for January 2018. He had a horrible time in the hospital and almost died twice. They sent him to a rehab hospital because he wasted away in the 24 days he spent in hospital. The results from the biopsy came 10 days after we got to the rehab facility. His news wasn’t as good. He had a type of bladder cancer you don’t survive. He probably got it when serving his country in Vietnam-the same place he was awarded the United States Air Force Medal of Honor. I brought him home with Hospice’s help 2 days later.

...sometimes we doubt it but, there are a lot of good ppl in this great big world. if we have bad relationships it's often because we don't each do our part/don't know how to build good ones or, perhaps we didnt choose well.. There are good books on the subject. One is Why Am I Afraid To Tell You Who I Am. From that one ppl who might want to can find others.
And it takes courage to keep from settling for someone we know we don't really love & trust enough, or balance well with, just because we don't want to be alone.
I think the biggest problem is finding someone who hasn't succumbed to one or more of the many addictions in the world today. But I hope that ppl won't give up & remain lonely.

My late husband asked me if I'd ever marry again, I said, "Oh hell no!" He did NOT like that answer. Long discussion short, I told him I didn't think I was capable of dedicating my whole life to someone else. Long story short, I did meet someone else a few years later & this time life has been easy & much like teenager love. Who knew? After 7 years, I did marry him. Marriage when you're older is much different. There's none of the trappings of early married life, kids, careers, etc. It's just two people who really enjoy being together because it's exactly what they want. Never say never... I'm very happy for her & all of us who find love after loss.

What an incredible lady Lisa is!! I lost my husband 4 years ago & my Chocolate Labrador Tsarissa, cause of a drunk driver! We had 18 years together, unfortunately the car wreck left me paraplegic & I have seizures nearly everyday, I live in a nursing home & have a wonderful service dog, tho life is difficult for me I was a Matron in the busiest Hospital & now I am a resident in a Nursing home??? I still have the one God sent me to be with. Since this video we now have our first great granddaughter who is 14 mos old. We are contented. There is no elation of crazy temporary joy that can outdo contented. Jesus is the center of our lives. We pray together and worship together (one line right now). Our faith and God's love has kept us together and contented. I call it happy but there are most certainly very bad things that happen to us all inn this world.
I found that weathering these things with a loving, caring partner who is committed to you makes is easier to bear the burdens and happy times are twice as good when shared with the person you love. We both love Christ more than our children or each other. We do not neglect each other, but rather try to love the way Jesus loves us, with love, forgiveness and forget the sin when it is forgiven.

My mom passed away from a rare form of cancer in 2009 after fighting it for a year and a half and she was 55.She told my dad before be she died that she wanted him to move on with his life and find someone else to be Happy with.So my dad had her blessing and 2 years after my mom passed away he married my wonderful step-mom and I have 2 great step Brothers.People grieve differently and people shouldn't judge other people.

As in:
No one should CRITICIZE how one grieves or decisions they make on how they move on with their lives.

I admire your father. Not everyone has the abundance of love& courage to accept, let alone fully embrace & encourage ALL of the blessings God gives one.
I just now had a thought that just popped in my noggin: That must be why God gives your father SO much in this one lifetime, he knows & trusts your father's husbandry over all he loans him while on this Earth. "Husbandry" as, not only in the matrimonial sense, but ALSO in the over-all gardening, cultivating, nurturing, fostering sense. God always gets it right. ALWAYS!
I wasn't judging anybody. It was just me expressing how I could not have anybody else, after having such a wonderful man.
