Thank you! Thank you! Called an appliance guy and he wanted $450 including parts and labour to replace the ignitor. I told him too much. He diagnosed that it was the ignitor...and just left the dryer with all the parts laying around. I still paid the guy $120 for diagnosis. I went to the local parts store and got the part for $100 and carefully put everything back together. Works perfectly.
This saved me hundreds of dollars in repair costs and allowed me to do the repair myself vs waiting 10 days for the next available repair appointment. Thank you.
Great video. We followed all the steps. The drum spins but makes a loudish whirring sound it never made before. Does this mean we put the belt on wrong? Also, the problem we were trying to solve in the first place is that our clothes were coming out of the dryer smelling like paint thinner or similar. I read it could mean the igniter is going bad. Our ventilation is fine. Now that igniter is replaced, should we smell gas when opening the door a couple of minutes after we hear it ignite? Maybe we are checking too soon. Need to run a real load of clothes i guess but the whirring sound concerns me.
@@appliancepartspros Thank you so much for asking. We discovered the problem and fixed it. We think the drum wasn't on the rollers correctly. It's working like a champ now. The whirring noise is gone and the clothes don't smell like chemicals after drying. This video was immensely helpful. I don't think we would have tackled this repair without it. Thank you!
i have a kenmore elite 3 (gas), my handyman says he can not find the heating element to replace, he swears there is NO spot for a replacement heating coil to replace, is this true?
Thanks so much..this helped me replace a faulty igniter and it’s heating again good as new. $17 part..I don’t really want to know how much you saved me in a service-charge.
Nothing truer has ever been said. And yet, after 3 times disassembling my dryer, I can now do it in less than 10 minutes with no problem. I'm basically the NASCAR pit crew for dryer disassembly and reassembly. FML

What is the model number of your dryer?

Where did you get an igniter for 17 dollars. The link to this video lists it as a 45 dollar part.
Well done video with excellent commentary and camera work.
Thanks for the video! This is very informative and well done.
Wayne Kendrick Glad you were able to get the igniter changed!
How do you test the igniter? What should the ohm's reading be between the pins of the connector?
When testing the igniter you should have between 50 and 250 ohms.
Excellent video! Have a different model than the one featured, but instructions were spot on for my model
Glad we were able to help you out!
Great video. But I have to ask, how the heck can you work with gloves on, especially holding onto small screws?
Great video and very informative but all I had to do was reset the button by the high limit thermostat- and that worked for my dryer.
Thanks. And it's always good to try the simplest solutions first!
how?
Thanks for the great video!
You're welcome!
won't phillip need his screwdriver back?
Step #3 of the instructions be careful not to break the igniter $21 aftermarket on Amazon if you do. :-(
"all you have to do is " disassembly the whole machine to replace a stupid igniter.. horrible design.

@@danlake111 I have the same problem. I really regret buying this machine.. I feel I have a fiat
lg should redesign their dryers with access panel on the right side and all replaceble parts on that side too.
