I was having similar symptoms and have finally solved my issue. We noticed that clothes weren't drying as well as they use to...when using sensor dry they would come out slightly damp (just barely). Intermittently we would smell natural gas in the laundry room. After reading numerous forum posts, I decided to swap out the main control board because many people said changing the ignitor and gas valve didn't fix the problem. I thought that I had fixed the problem as we didn't smell gas for a few weeks. Well, the problem did come back a few weeks later. Eventually the dryer stopped heating as the gas wouldn't ignite. I ordered a gas valve thinking that was the most likely culprit. The swap out that part I had to remove the drum which exposed everything in the dryer nicely. It turns out the exhaust tube had dislodged internally and a decent amount of lint was being blown inside the machine. Lint was everywhere. The lint had built up inside the gas tube and must have caused turbulence in the gas flow which prevented it from lighting properly. I cleaned everything up, reconnected the exhaust tubing and taped it securely before putting everything back together. I didn't replace the gas valve as the original one ohmed out properly. The dryer has been working like new for several weeks now. I hope this helps other with similar problems.

Hi, I have a DLG8388WM. The ignitor glows and the flame starts but it cuts out after a minute or so. What could be the problem? I tested the flame sensor, the high limit thermostats and the ignitor for continuity and they are all fine.

Actually after watching carefully, the flame stays on for 5 sec. and turns off, after a 1 1/2 mins it does the same thing. This cycle seems to be short. It takes 2 an a half hours to dry clothes when in the past it took only 1 hour. Also all the ducts are clean. I appreciate your help. Thank you.
+Sun City Appliance Repair I have an LG DLG2251W dryer and have had the same problem with not one, but TWO of the same dryers. The first one we thought was a lemon - they replaced the motherboard. Still didn't work. They came out to replace another part. Still didn't work. They finally sent me a new dryer....guess what? Same problem. Brand new ducts and totally clear vents. This is AN LG PROBLEM. And not specific to one model but MANY of their models. I will never buy an LG dryer again. Be warned. My clothes dry only 50% of the time (I'm being generous) and even when they do it takes HOURS for an average load of laundry to dry. Not worth the headache. Avoid LG dryers.

I have an LG gas dryer DLG3788DW. The igniter glows and lights the gas burner. It burns for 5 to 10 seconds then shuts off. The solenoids on this unit are not replaceable, as you have to buy the entire gas valve assembly. How do I know if I have a bad coil/solenoid vs bad sensors on the heat tube. Can you help me determine that before I buy parts?
James A weak ignitor will have the same symptoms. I would try the ignitor first as it is much more cost effective than the gas valve. Check your venting tubing and vent outlet for any blockage. The limit is overheating because vent is probably clogged with lint. Clean the screen after every dryer operation.
