Iraq is currently saying they don’t need the US anymore and that they’re getting stronger and fine with fighting ISIS on their own.
As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the US stated that they didn’t want to be involve in anymore wars after being called for help at Europe. However, Japan and Germany decided to take over The world and asia and Japan ignoring the US statement, after being warned multiple times by Germany not to get US involved, Japan still decided to do a SURPRISE ATTACK on Pearl Harbor. And thats when the US had enough and give a warning of fear with the bomb. Currently, the US has apologized to Japan, and Japan apologized to the US about the attacks.

You need to understand India's history and how the west and US treated India for last 70 years.
1) India need not take sides as it is not India's problem. India has actually sent a lot of help to Ukraine against Russia's wish. India has been speaking both the presidents to find out a mutual solution.
2) India forged a relationship with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. That has carried over into the present day because of mutual interest and nostalgia, but the biggest reason is defence.
3) After India's independence from the British rule in 1947, there was noone to help India. Immediately after the independence, a weak India lost 1962 war with China. US at that time decided to take Pakistan as its strategic ally, so India was left with the remaining super power USSR.
You need to remember that Pakistan (a new country) was formed out of India on the basis of religion. Pakistan i.e. the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was formed and America helped it overwhelmingly.
4) In 1971 India’s war with Pakistan, US President Richard Nixon had a terrible idea. Under the pretext of evacuating American citizens from the warzone, Nixon ordered the US Seventh Fleet’s Task Force 74, led by the nuclear powered aircraft carrier Enterprise, to proceed towards the Bay of Bengal to threaten India!!! Do you think India can forget these actions? Can you really trust America?
USSR helped India: On 6 and 13 December 1971, the Soviet Navy dispatched two groups of cruisers and destroyers and a submarine armed with nuclear missiles from Vladivostok; they trailed US Task Force 74 into the Indian Ocean from 18 December 1971 until 7 January 1972. The Soviets also had a nuclear submarine to help ward off the threat posed by USS Enterprise task force in the Indian Ocean.
USSR helped India when it mattered the most.
5) India has a big neighbour called as - CHINA. There are so many cases of Chinese aggression on the eastern side of India's border. Noone used to give arms to India against China when India needed them badly to defend itself.
So India had to go nuclear because of big brother China as neighbour. When India conducted its defensive nuclear test in 1998, US, Ukraine and EU - EVERYONE sanctioned India. It was Russia that saved India in the security council using Russia Veto power. YES, you read it correctly. UKRAINE voted for sanctions against India.
(India also lost a war with China in 1962, and lost kilometres of kilometres area to China. Remember Tibet actually used to be part of India, and till date many Hindu's travel to Tibet for religious tours).
6) Every time a UN resolution was passed against India, it was only USSR / Russia that helped India against all odds.
7) For more than 5000 years, India has NEVER been an aggressor, in fact India used to be a country from present day Afghanistan to Indonesia, to Cambodia/Thailand. Because of invaders, India has shrunk to its present day form. And Indians see Russia as their true friend in difficult times.
8) In early 2021, when India was struggling to get the vaccines, countries like US kept its vaccines to itself (fair enough). But Russia promptly sent its vaccine Sputnik to India along with huge supply of Oxygen concentrators.
9) If there is No Russia, can someone guarantee that US will come to help India if China does any aggression on India's border? Who can help India? When a war is started everyone just does a lip service, but India has to defend itself with 2 countries Pakistan and China on west and east side border respectively. India has had multiple wars with these 2 countries.
10) 60% of India's defence machinery comes from Russia.
India badly needed the a defense system like s-400, everyone tried to avoid giving access to it. When Russia offered s-400 system western countries especially US were very skeptical about it. India ignored the possibility of sanctions and went ahead and procured the system. This type of system is needed for India’s defense as China also already has it.
It is very easy to sit in an AC room and comment on India, however none of you have borders right next to China.

Well, India has NOT supported Russia, it has only abstained from taking any sides.
Over a period of Time, India’s relationship with QUAD, and US has drastically improved. Indians do have sympathy for Ukraine, and whatever is happening is not right, but India will never go against Russia with above complex situation and also due to the fact that Russia has been true friend and helped India without any expectations.Indians and their future generations would never forget Russia. The Russia-India friendship is more precious than materialistic money and artificial diplomacy with the western world.

Why do US expect India to put sanction on Russia? Is this war between India and Russia? Did US and NATO asked India's stance/openion before deciding Ukraine will be a part of NATO? Why the heck NATO need to expand? From name only it's it states "North Atlantic" so why expanding towards Russia? Is Russia's demand so unreasonable? Can a country make independent decision in expense of other country's security? What US did to prevent the war even after knowing war will break out between Russia and Ukraine? India is constantly demanding to resolve issues with diplomacy, did US tried to do so? Instead US is providing millitary equipments, don't you think US is fueling this war? Sanctions are not illegal at all, they're just an assortment of decisions to not make business with them anymore in certain areas, which every country has a right to decide. Changing the terms of the contract is a whole other deal. The reason why they are starting to pull out is because the 9 of may is because of payment deadlines that have to be made in euro/dollars otherwise a lot of their big companies will go in default. They are spinning this deadline with their propaganda saying it's the day nazi liberation..

@Prashant Sharma a lot has changed since 1962. Alliances has shifted and since then US grew closer to China when Kissinger visited Moa to forge closer relations in 1972 to counter Soviet Union. Since then under Trump the US has moved to a rival of China. Now China and Russia has shifted closer together. Meanwhile in the same period, India has shifted closer to US and west through relationships such as Quad.
It’s very hard to trust any relationship. Each seems to serve the respective country at the particular time. Right now Russia needs India, but it needs China much more. After all, Putin visited Xi first to get his blessing before invading and only sought to seek out India once repercussions started to intensify.
Diplomacy is so fragile and sometimes perceptions are not what it seems. For similar reason, Australia abandoned French submarine deal because in reality they realised they can’t rely on France in future if there is a conflict with China. Whereas the policy is much more aligned with US and UK who are reliable partners.
This is why I say India needs to have its own policy and agenda. Russia has been a reliable partner in the past but it’s not really so now. If you want any more evidence of that then you only need to look at the Indian students who fled Ukraine. None of them fled towards Russian to get home. They all fled westwards and it’s obvious the Russians didn’t give much interest in their safe passage.

Also there is no such thing as fascist democracy. The two are contradictory and dont go together. Fascism is an ideology of an ultra nationalist dictatorship. Whereas democracy at it core gives its citizens the choice to forge its own future.

But you can not be so naive as to paint the world in terms of simple black and white. The world doesn’t work that way. If you look back a little deeper in the world you will see shifting landscape of borders and nations. It been a lot worse over the last 200 years.
We are definitely seeing a shift now in the world where we seeing the emergence of a Chinese superpower. This counters American superpower which will still be there for the next few decades. Russia is not a super power. It has been in since the fall of the Soviet Union. The question for India is where does it see its future. Particularly in a world where China would never want to see the emergence of an India power with which it shares a border with or in a region where it is trying to exert its influence.

China also has manpower but as its wealth of its citizens increases and so do their age, they need to find more partners to make this work. China has been looking to Africa who has both a lot of resources and young man power.
India has manpower but not technology. Russia has resources and lacks technology of the west. China can bridge this gap for Russia much more so than India. India is still important to Russia in terms of selling its weapons, because China has been developing its own defense system.
But India is in no man’s land. It doesn’t have an option but to rely on Russia for weapons.
In terms of Germany and France joining India Russia axis your delusion. France has been trying desperately to form a closer ties with the US while keeping its independence. France has a lot of territories in the Pacific which it needs help. India has nothing to offer in this.
Similarly on Germany. Most of Germany trade is with China and this remains the most important relationship to them.
It is India that is stuck in the middle in no man’s land. So much so they lost their voice on the global stage for fear of offending all of the partners. I think while this approach may have worked a decade ago, it’s not going to quite cut it now. The biggest consequences is that India gets left out all together when the world is carved up. This has problems with trade, technology transfer and citizens in the long run.
