I bought a cigarrete lighter that uses plasma and the thing genuinely scares me in my pocket after seeing it instantly set fire to everything I tested it on.
instead of refilling it like a refillable lighter, you have to replace the whole thing i had one of these tesla lighters for about a year, after 4 months it became much less effective because the electrodes were corroding from being used and melting the plastic housing the electrodes are contained by (so the electricity cant conduct through the electrodes into the lighters body) after a year it was entirely unusable, replaced it for £10 (which was the original price), then i bought a clipper and threw the replacement away within a month meanwhile a clipper lighter (£1) flint replacements (16 for £1) and a year worth of clipper universal gas (2 bottles £2-2.50 each, £4-5 total) which totals to : £6-7 for the lighter to work for a year, plus you can get "clipper chimney" lighters which produce the flame from a "chimney" for lighting candles and such and this is for a smoker, if you just use it to light candles and not every day, £6-7 will likely last you 3-5 years... e-lighters can end up being £10-£25 every 4-16 months for arguably a less reliable product, buying replacement parts is either not possible like with apple products or more expensive like with apple products to ensure sales and profits due to inbuilt redundancies
I never liked them personally. Takes to long to light a smoke lol and the real flame comes in handy a lot more than an arc. Atleast in my life it does
