  • This documentary follows Aubrey Marcus and company through a powerful Ayahuasca ceremony at Spiritquest Sanctuary in Peru. Under the guidance of Don Howard and his team of ayahuasca shamans, Aubrey and his tribe experience deeply vulnerable transformational experiences. This beautifully cinematic journey is directed by Mitch Schultz, the director of DMT the Spirit Molecule, with an original soundtrack by Poranguí.
Aubrey first began speaking about Ayahuasca on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in 2011. Since then he has appeared in dozens of other documentaries and media outlets commenting on Ayahuasca. The documentary seeks to help the viewer answer the following questions for themselves:
    What is Ayahuasca?
What is it like to take Ayahuasca?
What visions do you have while on Ayahuasca?
What emotional breakthroughs occur during an Ayahuasca ceremony?
    Should I take ayahuasca?

Don Juan told Carlos that he gave him psychotropics because he was to stupid to figure it out any other way. Wisdom begins when you realize that you don't know anything. The experiences depicted have the common thread of people who just need to get out of the way of THEMSELF. Kick over the bars you were convinced to raise for you to measure YOURSELF by, let go of everything you think you are, and realize that You are LOVE. You are TRUTH. You are LIFE. These are not things that you do, not things at all. These are what you are and always will be. Your entire expression has been you demonstrating to you what you know about YOU.

I’m awe struck that we live in such an amazing universe. Of course psychedelics exist. Why wouldn’t they? We live in such a crazy place. To me it’s weird we don’t just talk with our neighbors every day about how crazy it is that we are here. But we get caught up in things that don’t really matter. Psychedelics are a way to remind us we live in a crazy beautiful universe.

I went to Spiritquest in July of 2022 because of this video. It was a random recommendation while I was watching a video about League of Legends of all things. I had never looked into psychedelics before and I had been dealing with depression and suicide since I knew what the term meant. After working with ayahuasca and guachuma, I can appreciate and LOVE the side of that is suicidal and depressed. It was a new life that I was given, and I randomly decided to watch this video again today. Brings back sweet loving memories seeing the sanctuary and the people in it. THANK YOU for this video, I wouldn't be here today without it.

@@hardeepsingh2505 you dont make life gentle and easy by making it not cruel or harsh. The reality of brutality is that it is gentleness looked at from a different point of view. In dante's inferno the levels of hell are described as dark/lesser forms of divinity. We attribute our subjective interpretation to suffering and brutality without seeing it in its totality. The totality of suffering contains all beauty because you would not know gentleness and comfort without pain and harshness. Its wouldnt exist if you didnt have both.

My second ceremony will be in a few weeks. But in my first I was able to connect with myself in 13 dimensions, and see into 18. I was able to become part of the devine, I had an exorcism, I died and the shaman tried to bring me back but only came back for my family, to keep experiencing, learning and teaching. @@georgediaz2529 you can go crazy from any intense experience, even those that might occur in normal day-to-day life. If you're predisposed to psychosis or schizophrenia, psychedelics aren't recommended, as they're prone to trigger predisposed mental conditions.
However, the DMT in Ayahuasca is harmless for the very large majority of people, and has been known to treat depression, ptsd, trauma and help deal with repressed emotions. This goes for most psychedelics too, such as psilocybin and LSD, which have been massively misunderstood in history. Definitely the most beautiful experience a human could unlock.

Drugs are powerful catalysts that necessitate a biochemical response to remove blockages and to release untapped reserves of both energy and heat. The more powerful the drug, the greater the body's response. Because of the strong energy release to produce the psychedelic experience, energy-depletion generally follows. Depending on the nature of the drug, strong identification, and sometimes addiction can follow. In yogic literature, drugs are mentioned as an illegitimate path to enlightenment, given that they produce a number of ego-distortions that often come with the high. Kinda like going in through the backdoor to rob a bank, rather than being welcomed as a respected customer through the front door. To steal a glimpse of reality is very different from earning it, and that's what years of meditation practice coupled to right livelihood, humble service, and good works were scripturally intended for. Still, if to have a glimpse of the infinite via a drug is your religion, go at it in a responsible way. Way back when a whole generation of spiritual seekers came to practice meditation via the experience of drugs. Also, many in that generation, as today, ended up in psychiatric as well. Choose your friends and life experiences wisely and season's best through the holidays and into the new year.

Now we're coming full- circle and seeing widespread acceptance of psychedelics by the psychiatric establishment.

Adrenal Glands are something to look into here with alot of the symptomology here. They sit ontop of the kidneys, if the kidneys are down the adrenals are down and there goes alot of your steroids, sugar metabolism and sodium/potassium work ( allowing nutrients into cells) but most importantly the feeling of depression / anxiety is associated with this gland.

I had the same experience of going so deep with the ayahuasca too that feeling of being nothing such a dark place & not in my body, I think at that point if I wasn’t so scared to let go of my ego I could have discovered or travelled more. On another ceremony I had what I can only describe as another being that was not of this world so tall & amazing I felt such trust & peace, I felt it was a male presence kneeling beside me and waving urging me to follow, at that point too my ego kicked in with not following and exploring the medicine. The biggest thing is to let go of the ego & go with the medicine without fear, trust in mother ayahuasca. Hopefully I can travel soon again when the world opens its flight paths again. Thank you for this video it has reminded me that the work I started still needs to continue. The music too was at my ceremony it instantly brought tears to my eyes. In August I took aya twice for the first time here in Costa Rica. What was different about this group is that they follow the Santo Daime Church traditions from Brazil. So there was soft lighting throughout much of the night and also the Brazilian shaman along with his helpers, played guitar and sang throughout many parts of the night. I will partake of the Peruvian method someday. Some people say weed is a hard no. At this ceremony some people were smoking before and during the ceremony. One person told me that the aya had previously asked him not to bring weed into the journeys. I quit getting high for like 10 days or so prior to my ceremonies. And I'm glad that I was in a state of enhanced vulnerability, part of which I attribute to the period of sobriety leading up to the experience. For me it was a visual tour. The aya did not ask me nor tell anything audible. I had a tour of centuries of human history, the ocean, the planet and the cosmos. The nausea was intense and the sheer joy of it was also plastered on my face for many parts of it as well. There was a sense of humor to the situations I was observing. I can relate to when one of you said in the film you could not get comfortable or sit still. I was struggling with the same and felt like I was on amphetamines at one point. There are so many ayahuasca documentaries now online that are a dime a dozen. This stands out from the crowd! Thank you for the amazing production.

Over the past 4 years, I have had many of the same experiences that people are having with plant medicine but I have been sober. My theory is that the healing/expansion of consciousness happens when the individual is ready, plant medicine just massively speeds up the process.

Hi David, your post touched me and I’m guided to tell you to try breathwork. I did a 6wk course with a woman named Erin Telford. She’s reasonable and you don’t have to leave your home. You could do it on your own but it does help to have a guide. It’s just breathing, but it’s specific. Please research. It opened up and released energy I didn’t know I was holding. About week 4, I began having spontaneous out of body experiences. I’d wake up vibrating and lifting out. Portals and tunnels, contact with other beings, visions of past/future...you name it.
A year and a half later I went to Costa Rica out of curiosity and drank Aya. I’d never done a psychedelic. I don’t smoke weed or take drugs, not even prescription. I do like wine, but am not a drunk. Aya didn’t show me anything I hadn’t already seen. Did I have a profound experience? Yes. But it was more in the confirmation I received, and the connection of the land and the people I journeyed with. I opted out of the last two nights ceremony, as did a few others. I was aware of the judgement, that I was running from myself, blocking, etc. but that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. Aya meets you where you are. It is only a tool. Another portal. It doesn’t have power over you. In fact, the second night my higher self told me to go sit outside under the stars, 10 min. after I drank. I decided I didn’t want to trip. I didn’t want to feel bad. I didn’t need to revisit my pain that I’d already spent so long processing, or puke and have a hangover. So I turned it off. There’s a quote about being a master or a slave to your mind. We are powerful but forget.
I sat under those stars in all their glory. I think I saw every constellation in the sky that night. And I was downloaded. Nuanced insight taking me a little farther than I’d been, but familiar still. All I could think as I listened to the agony and cries inside the building, was that I wished everyone was outside with me, taking it all in. It is a process, and I don’t intend to take anything away from it. Just offer perspective.
I realize we are all in different places on our paths, and there is no judgement in my words. But it will not save you. You will save yourself, with or without medicine. Many I met on that trip returned, some again and again. Still lost. Still searching. I can tell you, with great confidence, it’s already in you. You’re already connected. You...are not broken.

In my experience ayahuasca showed me my biggest fears come to life, not only saw them but felt them too, and at the moment I was able to transcend those demons but it was very hard. Little that I know, everything was going to change only 1 day after the ceremony. It was when the real work started. It started with panic attacks, fear of going to sleep and crazy strong anxiety, all of this induce by the memory of what I saw and felt that night. Long story short, after a couple of months I've come to realize that the origin of my fear and anxiety, was one simple idea, a very profound idea that was instilled in me from childhood. Under all of this fear was this idea about myself that I wasn't enough, it was buried in the deepest part of my subconscious mind for so long that I wasn't able to acknowledge it no more. Between me and my therapist, we are working none stop to replace this idea from I'm not enough to I'M ENOUGH no matter what, and little by little I've noticed how this is becoming my default state of being. Ayahuasca doesn't end after ceremony, integration is where the real healing happens. It really felt like I took a dive into the darkest parts of my soul to realized this, and almost lose my mind in the process. Even with all of this I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, you have to go into this by your own desire, it can be extremely difficult if you're not ready to accept whatever you experience.

They key to life is Love. Not just loving the good stuff, but loving the bad stuff too. It's part of the journey and vital for your own growth and your individual, unique path. It's easy in theory but incredibly difficult to actualize and embody and medicines like Ayahuasca help show you the way. Great documentary, I hope to one day participate in a ceremony and this further reinforced my aspirations. Thank you!

@@williamwilson7857 well it’s very hard to explain with words tbh, im gonna try. To be able to enter another dimension/spiritual world and to see urself in ur true self its by itself a magical experience. Other thing that’s amazing its that when u take ayahuasca u can relive memories from ur life and past life and things will get clear to u, about who u are as a person. I cant imagine what my life would have been if I didn’t drank aya. Viva Ayahuasca
