    When you nurse the baby, you can nurse as much as he wants. You don’t have to worry about over feeding. Nursing babies tend to eat more, but it’s okay. They spit up because their sphincter isn’t developed fully yet.

      Only if the breastmilk is coming from the breast. If she's pumping and feeding in a bottle it is possible to overfeed.

      When my son was born we were told that if he's hungry, you feed him. Their body instinctively knows what it needs. Trying to stick to some sort of "he shouldn't eat more than X ounces a day" thing that is based on averages and not your own child makes no sense.

    • @sb720z
      @sb720z 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. And if you are pumping and feeding, I was always told my the lactation specialists that it is 1-1.5 ounce per hour on average.

    Keep in mind, the baby has been inside the womb where he's heard Jen's heart beat, blood pumping, and every other sound her body has made. So baby is definitely use to noise. Noise during the day is good. Try to limit noise during the night to have baby get use to a sleep schedule. It took my three kids about a month to get adjusted and once they did they'd start sleeping about 6 hours during the night.

      Finally someone honest b/c no baby sleeps for 10 - 12 hours straight like I always hear from other parents, my saying is if u can get 4 hours sleep with a newborn than even that is great, also from 7 am till 11 pm make sure to feed every 2 hours if breastfeeding or every 3 hours if formula feeding. At night time from 11pm - 7 am feed only if they wake up keep things dark, quite and only change the nappy if its a number 2.

    • @bamalamsue8720
      @bamalamsue8720 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is likely not over feeding, bitty babies eat what they need. They do cry because of discomfort and nursing is comforting so he may nurse if his tummy is all gassy. Many times spitting up is from your diet or just because their stomach sphincter is not developed and food just comes back out. You guys sound just like my husband and I with our first. Having a new born is absolutely just saying “is that normal?” all day long for over a year.

  • @SuziiLanette
    @SuziiLanette 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    A breastfed baby (fed directly from the breast) cannot be overfed! Boob will quickly become the answer for everything. Babies boob for much more than just hunger, especially at this stage, and it’s not uncommon for them to want to nurse for hours at a time! You guys are doing a great job and I’m so happy for you! 💕

    • @someonelovesyou00
      @someonelovesyou00 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes,this is exactly true!!! If in doubt, go to the breast. Babies like to cluster nurse- nursing many times in succession. Very normal and good for their development and weight gain. 😄😄

    • @SuziiLanette
      @SuziiLanette 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WickedlyMe328 its extremely rare that a woman actually doesn’t produce enough to feed their baby, but it does happen. That’s obviously not the case here because they said baby is back to birth weight and perfectly healthy. Frequent feedings and the desire to be at the breast for hours or every 15 minutes is perfectly normal breastfed baby behavior

    • @SuziiLanette
      @SuziiLanette 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      WickedlyMe328 no one said you weren’t? Formula fed babies are perfectly healthy too, but they act differently than breastfed babies, that’s all this is about.

    • @SuziiLanette
      @SuziiLanette 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      WickedlyMe328 okay, I’m not sure why you decided to jump on this comment to argue with me, but yes, breastfed newborns tend to act differently than bottle/formula fed newborns. They feed more frequently, wake more frequently, and seem to want to nurse constantly. This is all completely normal. Bottle/formula fed babies tend to eat more at a time and less frequently, they tend to sleep longer stretches, and their sick reflex is usually satisfied with a pacifier.
      None of this is false. None of this was an attack at formula feeding.

    • @SuziiLanette
      @SuziiLanette 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      WickedlyMe328 okay so this has nothing to do with me, it has to do with your negative feelings about breastfeeding. And that’s okay. But the science is on my side. And I hope Jen doesn’t read this comment and feel like she’s making a bad choice in breastfeeding Jackson because of people like you.
      Facts are not attacks and natural term breastfeeding is perfectly normal and beautiful. Have a good day 💕

    Hi Jen, you can’t over feed a breast fed baby. Unless you’re solely pumping and giving him it through bottles.
    Growth spurts and cluster feeding are SO tough! No one tells you these things during pregnancy 😂. When my baby went through growth spurts she was constantly attached to me feeding it was exhausting but it doesn’t last forever. As long as you can get through the first couple months it gets so much easier I promise. And you have the most incredible bond breastfeeding your baby.
    All babies spit up a LOT. I used to freak out and think surely my baby was bringing up her entire feed but it really isn’t the case. Don’t worry about it unless he seems to be in pain when doing it.
    The moro reflex is what makes them jolt all of a sudden. It goes away after about 3 months. 🥰
    I hope you’re enjoying your baby bubble. The beginning bit is totally overwhelming and emotional. you guys are doing such an amazing job already you are complete naturals! So happy for you

    I’ve breastfed two of my 3 kids. Both until a year. My most recent just turned one and still nurses in the morning and night. Breastfeeding can be so difficult in the beginning, soreness, engorgement, self doubt. Just know that your body was made for this and if it’s what you want to do, you can do it. Nurse him as often as possible. Every 2-3 hours and pump atleast 5 mins after each nurse session. You won’t get a lot of milk out, but it will help increase supply.

I eventually worked out myself that it was my diet that would make him puke and have exploding nappies. So i cut out from my diet dairy, onions, spicy stuff, etc and suddenly he stopped being sick, less exploding, less hiccups.

    He's adorable! And so blessed to be in a home where he's wanted and loved. Two comments: Please don't whisper around him, just talk in your normal voice, otherwise you'll be tip-topping forever! He will sleep just fine with normal noises. Also, did they tell you what to eat and not eat when breast feeding? No onions, spicy foods, gassy foods, etc. that will be translated into your milk...that will make you sorry!! Hope Jen will recover from her surgery, so sorry, please be careful. Just remember this, all parents have "been there," take the advice you can use and discard the rest. You will find your way...on your own terms. Blessings on your new little family.

    In the Netherlands we are very lucky for the first 7-10 days a special babynurse comes every day for about 6-8 hours. To help you with taking care of the baby, feeding and healing the mother. They also do light cleaning work/wash and cook for you! It helps with a lot of the questions you have with dealing with a new born. But you guys look in control and very happy

    As a new mom to a baby girl, it was tough for me. But 2 things... 1. Sleep is a big thing, y’all. Best advice... one person takes one night and another person takes another night. And 2. Jen... Prepare for CABIN FEVER! That is so tough! I was ready to get out of the house by week 3! Tim, please make sure by the time the 6 week recovery period is over... That Jen gets out of the house for a little bit. Just my little bit there. Love y’all and Welcome Baby Jackson!

    Jen, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to let you know that I found your and Tim’s videos almost 4 years ago when I had my first baby because I had lots of time nursing and pumping and I just needed to get away in my brain from all the overwhelming responsibilities. (And I still watch y’alls videos almost everyday! 😊) So y’all were my “happy escape” then and I’m so thankful for y’all. Here to answer the question on everyone’s mind ofc:

      Ashlynn Bee I called my pacifier a ninner. No idea why. My son called his Pappi. Kinda sounds like paci. And he called French fries kren kries cus his pappi was hanging out of his mouth when he talked. Had to bribe him with legos at a rather old age to give up the pappi.
