      This was the first I'd read about young living oils so I appreciate the commenter sharing the information. Glad you checked it out and stopped using them. We never used anything to scent the air when our children were babies/children. No candle burning or Lysol type sprays either. Just didn't want their lungs to have to handle anything else than what was already floating around 😄

      You guys are doing great. Watching you is like déjà vu for me as I have a 6 month old and we’ve gone through so many similar situations and just figuring everything out. Every day is a new struggle but also new lessons and new beautiful moments. It’s the hardest job but most rewarding being a parent. I just wanted to say the #1 thing I’ve learned is that the only consistency is inconsistency because things change daily with a baby, and being flexible and open to trying new things but also just doing what works for YOU guys is the most important. All the advice people throw your way is great(and in a situation like this can be awesome for alerting you to something unsafe!), but do what feels best in your hearts for anything you decide to do. I have continued breastfeeding despite people telling me it would be easier to stop, we bed share half the time because we didn’t want to sleep train so when our little guy is upset in the night and won’t resettle we follow the safe sleep 7 and bring him in bed to comfort him. Even though family or other people might disagree with some of our choices, we do what we feel is right. Trust your intuition! I can see how it might be difficult to share your lives as you figure all of this out. But you guys are doing amazing!! And one tip from a fellow breastfeeding mom Jenn, the only thing that is actually proven to cause issues with a breastfed baby in the mom’s diet is dairy(but it’s actually uncommon unless you’re seeing blood in his poop). So I wouldn’t worry about cutting spicy food! :) love to you guys!

    I would like to see a Jenn Tracker takeover vlog where Tim stays home with Jackson, while Jenn gets to go out by herself to the parks (when she is feeling up to it!) and Jenn gets to control the camera and the agenda and she gets a fun solo day of all the rides she missed in 2019! Girl power! Switch up the status quo! And then maybe Tim could edit the video that Jenn makes?

    Tim and Jen, I remember being a first time mom and being so unsure of what to do that I would follow any advice I got. I drove myself nuts and felt inadequate. I can only imagine how much advice I would have gotten if my life was as public as yours. I hope that doesn’t happen to you. Thankfully, I came to realize that there is no one right way to care for a child and that as long as my baby was gaining weight, whatever I was doing was right. Years later, when I had my second child, I was much more relaxed and remembered that I could listen to advice, but if I didn’t follow it, that would be okay. No matter what, you need to remember that you are doing the best you can, and your best is DEFINITELY enough.

      A few things have been really important for safety reasons . ( essential oils, carseat buckle, height of carrier)

    Jen, I remember thinking my son wasn’t eating enough my first time nursing. Keep drinking water. Your body will make the milk he needs. At this point he could be hitting a growth spurt. He will eat more often to make more milk for him. Your body will adjust but it does take a day or so. If you worry you aren’t making enough milk you can feed and pump to increase your supply too. It sounds like he got what he needed and slept well. Maybe you increased you supply already!
    My best advice is drink water and don’t supplement formula (it was decrease your supply). I didn’t realize how much water my body needed to make milk, I would fill a gallon jug and have to drink the entire jug during the day.
    Also he can be bothered by something you ate. It sounds odd but spices, dairy, etc can pass to him. Keep a food journal to see if you see a pattern. I had a friend that if she ate broccoli her child was fussy. You might find a pattern with a food journal. I know another thing to do....
    Sometimes it is just a mystery and bad day.
    Keep being awesome! You and Tim are great parents and Jackson is so lucky!

    • @kimbermarcel6362
      @kimbermarcel6362 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with this. Little guy could be cluster feeding. Babies go through multiple growth spurts in the first year where they will eat every hour for a few days to a week, which signals to the body to adjust and make more milk to feed their growth. As long as he is gaining and growing, you're doing just fine. :)

    It breaks my heart to see you come on here and feel like you have to constantly defend everything you do and every decision you make :( And don't say "it's what they signed up for being on social media" having a kid changes EVERYTHING and they absolutely have the right to not be as transparent to protect their son or themselves, and to not put their newborn in situations he just simply shouldn't be in yet for the sake of youtube viewers. I hugely admire you guys for how open you are, but it also seems like it's causing so much anxiety(understandably, it would to any sane person!) with constantly getting actually hundreds of opinions on what you're doing. If it gets to the point where literally everything you do you have to jump in and defend why you are doing it or worry that people will say something, that's just too much.

    • @maryannpomeroy
      @maryannpomeroy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I agree! My husband and I say this exact thing every video. I hate that they always feel that they have to explain, defend, apologize, rationalize, etc. everything they do, especially with the baby. I can't imagine what it's like getting that much unsolicited advice from strangers. It would make me not want to show my life as much as they do. I wish everyone would chill with always questioning or calling them out on every little thing.

      @@NicholasTranscends It's not about them telling us too much it's about literally hundreds of people each video telling them different things they should he doing as parents or critizcing decisions. They tell us a lot but they sound so anxious when they do, like if we don't overexplain everything or tell and show everything then we aren't doing something right or someone will say something. I just feel bad if they feel like they HAVE to tell us about every little decision. I mean damn they had to come on here to explain to people who actually complained about them not taking their barely one month old to Disney yet why they hadn't! And they had already said multiple times in other videos that they wouldn't take him right away. Sometimes people genuinely mean to help but when you are pregnant and have a baby you have EVERYONE coming at you with their opinion and it is just SO much. Then there are the people get so offended when you don't take their opinion as gold and they for real turn against you🙄
      Saying well they make money off it so viewers can act however is really disrespectful to them too. There is ALWAYS a line and esp when it comes it comes to parenting and kids.

    • @accountforwastingtime
      @accountforwastingtime 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NicholasTranscends they don't break my heart, that they feel like they constantly have to come on and defend their decisions does. Excuse me and the people who liked the comment, agreeing, and others who posted positive comments letting them know they don't always have to defend every parenting decision/choice. Literally nothing wrong with standing up for a youtuber when they continuously have people questioning their decisions. Pretty weird someone would be offended by that. It's not "protection" it's showing your support. People are mostly likely to comment on things if they have something negative to say or are questioning the comments. Sadly, not enough on social media leave a nice or supportive comment just for the sake of being nice or supportive, even when they want to. Sometimes those comments supporting youtubers and telling them they don't need to constantly defend or explain, telling them to not worry about the negative people, are what they need to see the most even if it seems like they "got" this on camera and "don't need" people sticking up in support of them.

    Ok I’m going to be “that guy” and note that a lot of parents and pediatricians don’t recommend having an infant sleep with a blanket. It increases the risk of suffocation. In fact our pediatrician would ask us at newborn appointments if the baby was sleeping in a crib, on their back, with nothing else in the crib such as pillows, toys, or blankets. Probably will get some hate for this comment but hey...it’s 2020 and I’m all about everyone getting to speak their minds!

When my daughter was a baby we put a loose light blanket on her during the day when we were in the same room. I’m pretty sure with how prepared they are that they know about blankets and not having them at night :)

    For the first couple of months my babies were always sleepy eaters. I found if I undressed them to their diapers when I nursed them it helped to keep them awake :) and you get some great skin to skin. Also, in my child development class for my marriage and family degree I learned that the first 4 months of life, babies do not realize they are their own individuals and think they are still connected to mom. That is why it is not recommended to sleep train until the baby is 4-6 months old. The plus side to that is you cannot "spoil" your baby in the first 4 months, wearing him to sleep, holding him all the time etc. Will not cause him to struggle with falling sleep on his own during the first 4 months. However, after the 4 months they learn that they are an individual and how to communicate their preferences meaning they can start to get "spoiled". So eat it up! This is the best time to snuggle baby to sleep 😍

    I've watched Tim and Jenn now for over 5 years. I used to go laugh about them talking about cold too. But we moved to central Florida almost 2 years ago. And I can say once you live through a Florida summer these temperatures feel colder than before. I used to live in the North Carolina mountains where we had subzero temperatures. I also used to wear shorts when it was in the 50's there. Now when it goes below 70 I'm wearing pants! Love you guys!

    I'll also add that I took my youngest to Disneyland when he was 3 weeks old for my daughter's 5th birthday. But I pretty much wore him the whole time or kept him isolated in the stroller.

      I also took my 3 week old baby to Disneyland.....her sisters were 6 and 8 and we had annual passes and it was Christmas season. the baby was in a carrier on me or in a stroller fully covered. I kinda of cannot believe I did that but we went as a family. had annual passes and it was low stress for us. That baby is now 17 years old and still loves Disneyland and we still go all the time

    Absolutely go with Sun Basket! We just had our 6th or 7th meal from them and haven’t had a bad meal yet! Everything is easy to make, flavorful, and a sensible but satisfying portion size. AND, they’ve just started offering meals that are pre-prepped and ready for the oven (or microwave), at the same price as the prep-your-own. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

    So glad you guys are waiting to take him to the parks! It’s the best choice for his health, and your sanity. Babies typically get quite a few colds in the first year of life, but the FLU which is in peak season next month through about mid March is NOT something any baby should have to suffer through nor his parents. 😋 I’m enjoying the peek into a new family’s life. It’s amazing seeing how fast that sweet baby boy has grown.

    This has probably already been said but I haven’t heard any mention about it: to help his gassiness lay him on his right side (as if you were on your right side) and massage his back on the his left side. This helps creates space for his large intestine and helps push out that baby gas! I used to work at a daycare and this worked wonders for many little ones!😊sorry if you’ve heard it a million times already! Just wasn’t sure!
