Hi James, Thank you very much for your feedback here! It's always highly appreciated. So glad we could be of assistance with your repair - great job. Cheers.
Very useful video. Two tips were particularly useful: preheating the gasket, and watching that the interior door panel doesn't drop out. I replaced the gasket on an upright Kenmore freezer and, seeing the bit about the interior panel, I took the door off, laid it on my dining room table, and replaced the gasket there. It was much easier to see where I needed to adjust the fit in this position, plus, the interior panel stayed put as I worked. Thanks.
Thanks for taking the time make this video and walking us through the procedure. I'd never attempted it before, and after watching your video, the job was a total snap! I really appreciate it!
Same with my freezer; there were no screws or bolts holding the gasket to the door. This made taking out the old gasket very simple and easy; just pulled it out. The new gasket fit in the grooves very snugly and seems to hold fine (I first put the gasket in the dryer for about 10 minutes to soften it up). I would like to get the comments of an experienced technician to explain the difference.
Thanks for this video. Seeing it in 2024. While watching the video, however, a thought/question that I immediately had is- why is it necessary to completely remove all the screws AND the freezer door liner?!, if the gasket seal isn't "screwed into" the door (the screws don't go through the gasket seal), but apparently it is only held securely in place by the screwed-in door liner.. So is my thinking correct? Because we have the same type of (Kenmore) lower freezer door with similar screws visible behind the front lip of the gasket seal, and the gasket is old and hard at the bottom outer corner and it doesn't seal properly anymore, so we need to replace it. Thanks for your time! B
I have the same question as Dan Rowe below. I am getting ice build up inside my freezer, and water in my fridge. The gasket SEEMS fine. I tried the paper test, and it is a little easier to pull out around the corners. The gasket seems to be sagging and bowing in places. I also noticed THERE ARE NO HEX SCREWS VISIBLE. How would I replace the gasket? Do I have to replace the entire door?
Steve, thanks for the videos... My Kemore freezer (self defrost) for last 2 months is not cooling like before and temperature is less than required temp. (but still working and cold) My freezer door doesn't suck tight after closing I checked the defrost timer and also the defrost heater both are good , do you think the gasket is bad? I dont feel any cold air is going out ..
I have a question about my 22cu. ft whirpool Refrigirator. It a has a bottom freezer whith a french door. The model Number is GB2FHBXWS04. The issue I'm having is the freezer is icing up. I've seen water coming from the back of the freezer from the left side and forming a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer. Is this a common issue on this model? If not, would a tube be pluged or something else. Thank you Dan Rowe
I have a whirlpool model number 21TEA. The thermostat on it is bad. It comes on and off erratically. Can you tell me where the thermostat is located. This is a single switch temperature control. Do you sell the thermosts ? This fridge is an 05 model. Thank you.
Hi. I ordere my Freezr gasket from your conmpany. I have a GE TBX25PRYHRWW. It uses some sort of Bracket strips to hold the gasket in place. Do you have any tips or instructions to help my in replacing my freezer gasket ? Thanks.
Hi Partselect, awesome video! - quick question though - my fridge door no longer closes shut - have check the door alignment and is fine - would it be the gasket or the magnets? Would you recommend any tests before replacing a gasket?
Steve, I did the test and I think there is no problem with the gasket. My freezer is Kenmore model # 253 928 7412 ... like I said , there is no problem with the defrost timer and defrost heater ,,, The alarm turned on every 12 hrs and we turned it off, ,, the freezer still very cold but not freezing point ,, this issue for almost 2 months ,, what else I should check? freon low? I can hear the motor running and stop sometimes so maybe nothing wrong with motor.. what do you think? Thanks
I replaced the gasket on my freezer following your directions. All went well. However, the gasket leaks at a couple spots where the gasket has deformities from being folded. I did heat it and let it come to its original shape. It also appears to be of very low quality in spite of the fact that I paid around $200 for $5 dollars worth of gaskets. The gasket is installed correctly. Any suggestions?? The freezer door doesn't appear to be shutting very snugly.
C Flint We have had some success with stubborn creases by soaking in hot water in a bath tub or tumbling carefully in the clothes dryer on a heat cycle. What is the model of your appliance and do you have any pictures?
Mr. Cousins complaint sounds to me like humidity is getting into the unit past a bad door seal. You can't HAVE puddles without a supply of air carrying vaporized water.
It is much easier to put the new gasket on the inside part of the door first. After getting the gasket on, screw in the inside part of the door. The gasket is very snug so it is very difficult to put on when the inside part of the door is attached, even when attached loosely.
GET THIS, -------- My fridge Quit cooling. I had a technician come to look at my fridge. Before he came I had emptied and defrosted it. I then much later plug it in and it seemed to be running but I was not sure that it was cooling. When he arrived he did determine that it was cooling and charged me $80 bucks, which was acceptable. BUT I thought to get a better bang for the visit, I asked if he could put the gasket on the freezer door which I already had purchases months earlier. GET THIS !!! "He said that it would take 2 technicians and 4 hours and $400 to install this door gasket !!! " I offered to assist, he then further said that it was a specialized intricate procedure. I SAID NO. A few days later after I knew the fridge was working . I wrapped a piece of plywood with a comforter and plastic, removed, removed the door, propped the plywood against the opening, changed the gasket, installed the door. GET THIS, -- 55 MINUTES, -- BY MY SELF !!!!! THANK YOU for your instructions !!!

Ah perfect video, only took me about 20 minutes to repair it.
Many thanks.
Thank you so much for letting us know we needed to remove the door, made the process so much easier

You're welcome for the help and glad you found it useful. I hope you continue on the DIY path and take on more repair projects!
I used the clothes dry trick and it worked. Thanks for the video. Very helpful.

i was wandering if this method can be applied to a chest freezer??

There don't appear to be any screws or bolts holding the gasket to the door on my freezer. Is it possible that it's glued on? What next?
Why don't you post a video on how to remove bottom sliding freezer doors? I have'nt been able to find one on youtube.
You're very welcome! Glad we could be of help to you.

No magnets. Seal keeps slipping out
Exact same fridge I have... exact same thing I need to do, ha. Thanks for this video.

Mate ! you do not need remove all screw ,just loosen screw , then remove rubber , put new gasket back

Honestly, not a great video. The camera is too far, hard to see all the details.
