This is the best video on cam replacement. I always watch multiple videos to find the best.
Some people say it is a fifteen minute job. No way.. It takes 15 minutes to empty the fridge door and have your parts and tools ready, and your drop cloth to protect the door finish,
Changing the cams is less than fifteen minutes.
I could not set the door down onto the lower hinge by myself. If I did this everyday, I might be able to do it. I had to get my son in law to guide the pin into the cam as I lowered the door. That worked. So you should plan on two people to finish the job.

Just wanted to add my thanks as well... The door not closing was a sore point of contention in our house, and this video helped me swap the cam kit out in under 10 minutes. FWIW, I emptied the compartments in the door, but used duct tape to seal a construction grade trash bag over the open portion of the fridge for the short time that the door was off the hinges.
Sincere thanks for posting this! :)

Very nice video: clear, percise, easy to understand. I was able to mail order the fresh door cams and replace them myself- very easy to do. Took me longer to find my tools! I really like watching videos like this one as it makes the job so much easier. I know what to expect before getting into a project. Thank you so much.

Great video! It helped a lot! One thing to add though; after I put cams on and tested the door, it didn't quite work, and I thought I would have to tip the fridge up a bit at the front on the floor. However, once I refilled the shelves in the door with all my stuff, the weight of those items made the cams work as they are designed to do, and I didn't have to anything more.

Only the CAM on the bottom was bad on my unit. I didn't need to take the door off at all. I used a car jack to elevate the door just enough to support it's weight.. I then took off the metal bracket that holds the lower CAM. Changed it and then the one on the lower end of door. You have to work down on the floor but it's straight forward like he's doing it. Reinstall the lower bracket with the new CAM. Lower the door and remove the jack. Done.

i've done this job, and just reused the machine screw with no problems . last video i saw says to add a little grease to the cams. guess it can't hurt. (white lithium grease)

This was helpful. However, based on the video I went and bought a tap and die set because I didn't have a 10-32 tap. I wanted everything I needed before taking the door off a refrigerator full of food. It turns out that my refrigerator (KitchenAid KSRS25FGWH03) already used the #10 threaded shoulder screw. Also, the upper cam had a tubular insert that went into the door. Fortunately, the cam kit came with both the type shown in the video and the one needed for my refrigerator. The kit has two sets of everything. I didn't bother changing the freezer door since they are still fine, so the one kit provides enough parts for 2 repairs. The freezer door gets opened less frequently, and has far less weight, so the came lasts much longer. This really should have been a metal part not the nylon or delrin it appears to be made from.

Why do you need to tap a larger hole when doing the replacement?

we replaced the door cams on fresh food doors. It makes a loud clicking noise when opening or closing now. How can we fix this problem?

Doesn't he say in this video use a 3/16 drill bit and 10/32 tab if you have an older fridge? I drilled it with the 3/16, used the tap, and the new screw is now too small to catch the threads. Now besides machining some kind of new larger screw I don't know what to do.

Marcia, Your comment made me check various drill and tap sizes. I think that a 3/16" drill is a bit large. Drills and taps cover a range of sizes and the 3/16" is a bit on the large size of the provided #10 shoulder screw's threads. I ended up using a 5/32" drill and very gently machining the opening with the 10-32 tap. I say gently because if you are aggressive with the tap you can oversize the threaded opening same as if you used too large a dril. Hope you were able to resolve your issue.
